    I love Elvis for the indiviual he was, his huge giving heart, his radiant soul and talent.
    He was imperfect like all of us. My theory is had he lived and gotten into music business during this generation he would had lived to be an elder, he would had grown out of his addictions, (that's even if he had gotten involved with drugs), incorporated a whole different lifestyle, which would had resulted with healthier people around him and the ones that were good for him would had stayed, he would had settled down.
    During his time things in all aspects were just so different. In addition there wasn't much public awareness and outreach about addictions and grief counseling. Wasn't much education of how to juggle a entertainement business, how to seperate a image from real life. Etc... Elvis coming straight from poverty without business education it made for not a good recipe, along with other factors.
    The glorifying of celebrities was so unhinged then verses today. Fans even up to Michael Jackson's era was unbalanced, fans would literally pass out. The glorfying was so extreme it effected their nervous system into overdrive that it resulted in some passing out. I recall watching old videos of strechers brought in to remove some fans. Yes fans in this era still glorify but not on that level, it's because of various factors.
    With that said, he sadly only lived to age 42, so there's only so many stories to be told. That actually applies to anyone that sadly had a short life.
    The reason why he's still highlighted cause not many people come along in this life that had that kind of charisma, giving heart, physical attraction and talent, in addition those very attributes he had he's still paying everyone's bills. From Graceland, Memphis, all around the world who markets him, to movies, books, music and Elvis impersonators. The manner of how giving Elvis was my guess is he doesn't mind still paying peoples bills. It provides jobs for many, therefore keeps the ecomony going.
    What he did and accomplished left a incredible legacy. It also was a great lesson for future generation of singers and performers on the do's and don't's. Sadly of course some didn't learn but on the positive side, which I focus on is many have learned.
    It's never, never beneficial for the mental health of a entertainer to treat them like a God. It's an ideal that they nor any one of us can live up to. It places enormous expectations in which makes them prone to spiraling out. There's the perfomer, the image on stage and promtion, then there's the indivdual when not on stage. If we want to help them live a long life, we need to make sure to allow them to be themselves when they're not on the clock performing. If we happen to see them out in public at a store or mall, we're not to enter their private space, no different then us wanting our private space, now if they approach us that's a different story. We're also not to expect them to look like they walked right out of a catalog. They need to and deserve to be human like everybody else. If their hairs out of place, don't have makeup on, aren't dressed to the 9's it's totally fine. That's reserved for when they perform, doing a meet & greet and photo shoots. By doing this for them, it takes enormous weight off their mind.
    Love & Light 💗

    According to authors, Peter Guralnick and Alanna Nash, Colonel brought contracts for Vernon to sign the day of the funeral which seems like something the Colonel would do. Also, the person who i read had originally came up with the idea of opening up Graceland was an attorney that was with the bank who was on the board overseeing the estate that had some power on making decisions along with Vernon who was the executor.

      Peter got his info from Alanna, according to her. But I agree with the info.

    • @dougdickason
      @dougdickason 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@dennydeckerful yeah, thats right, Peter used Alanna as a reference for that information in his book. They both reported it in their popular books so i used them both as references, although im thinking now that it may have even been the day after Elvis died, even before the funeral, that Colonel brought the contracts to Vernon.

    • @FrankieLovesElvis
      @FrankieLovesElvis 9 месяцев назад

      If it hadn’t been for the colonel, Graceland would have been lost and in the red. 160 different licenses were issued for Elvis merch that grossed millions and millions of dollars. 😊

    • @dougdickason
      @dougdickason 9 месяцев назад +7

      @@FrankieLovesElvis The Colonel did some creative things, but if you think he did any of it for Elvis' or anyone else's benefit other than his own, that would be a delusional perspective to have. One of the merchandising deals Colonel had, he brought to Elvis less than a few years before Elvis died, was pitched as a little side deal for "the guys" to make a "little extra" money, which Colonel got the lions share of 56% and the remaining guys split the rest, which included Elvis, Vernon, and a few of Colonels "associates." Colonel shortly thereafter also acquired one of his "associates" shares to raise his percent cut well to over 60%. This contract involved all merchandise not sold in concert, and since at that time the vast majority of merch was sold on tour, in concert, so it seemed like a small thing. Just before Elvis died he had Elvis renew this contract, and when Elvis died, one might think no more business. Out of all the contracts involving merch, the golden goose was the little "side deal" Colonel had brought to Elvis, and I would debate he planned it because Elvis had nearly died 3 times in the previous few years, and instead of maybe really helping Elvis, this contract was the type of aide he was rendering. We all know that all sorts of Elvis merchandise exploded after Elvis died, and since Elvis was now passed, there were no more tours or concerts, the little side deal of which Colonel was by far the largest percentage holder, was raking in dump trucks of money to be dumped at the Colonels dungeon. Also, another of his many unethical and illegal things he did was what is called "double dipping." This began at the beginning of Elvis' career and remained through his death. This is where Colonel was either promoter, co-promoter, and Elvis' personal manager, although at times Colonel gave that title to Vernon, it was Colonel who was monetarily compensated for what sometimes was Vernons title, so as they say, follow the money and the truth will be in the details. So there are often debates, and confusion as to if Colonel actually got 50% of Elvis' earnings and this is one reason why, double dipping. For example, during the 70's which was Elvis' most lucrative time touring, Colonel acted as co-promoter, as well as Elvis' manager. So lets say Elvis did 10 tour dates and the tour made 20 million dollars, Colonel and the other promoter split 50% after the bills were paid(overhead). So Colonel got 5 million from promotion. Then the Elvis cut was 50% or 10 million, of which, depending on circumstance, Colonel took between 25-50% of Elvis' 10 million, which would make him between 2.5 and 5 million more. That meant that for that one tour Colonel got between 7.5-10 million compared to 5 million for Elvis. These are the types of illegal activities that the probate judge became aware of and immediately voided all contracts between EPE and Colonel and ordered EPE to sue Colonel, which that was later settled, thanks to Priscilla helping her partner in crime out of a sticky situation by settling, instead of going to court and destroying all contact and benefit to Colonel. In closing, i would argue that it is all Elvis as to why he had made so much money and had continued to rake in more each year after his death, more than most current athletes and entertainers in acting or music do. Colonel just figured out ways to suck off the riches that Elvis truly created. Also, Colonel was taken out of play a few years after Elvis' death and had no direct part in saving Graceland. I wont even give Priscilla that credit as it was an attorney for the bank who was on the board overseeing the estate that had the original idea to open Graceland but Elvis was the reason Graceland survived, Elvis and the millions of fans from around the world who love him and made it happen and still are.

    • @Della624
      @Della624 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@dougdickason The Merchandise deal was a very lucrative one for Elvis because he did not have to do anything to get 50% of the proceeds - and as you say there was millions of dollars to be had in the Merchandise side of things. All this sh*t you have to say about "double dipping" is all supposition. The figures you give is from a complaint raised by Priscilla and EPE when they took Tom Parker to court, to get him ousted from having any kind of control over Graceland and its assets, but this complaint is only partial side of the story - since Priscilla likes to seal any kind of deal SHE makes when taking someone to court. The point is, you only get one side of the story and it's Priscilla's and EPE's not from Tom Parker's side at all. Given that the PRESLAW Site shows you the ACTUAL letters of Contract between Tom Parker, Elvis and RCA, Parker could quite easily have disputed her claims, but instead he opted for a reportedly 2 Million Dollar deal reached outside of Court. When Vernon Presley passed away Tom Parker was the ONLY obstacle Priscilla had from getting her hands on a massive money making machine called Elvis Presley and Graceland - and funny now that since she no longer has any control over the estate she's now playing a victim of Elvis Presley and attempting to destroy his image and reputation along the way - If she can;t amke any money then no-one will (That's my Alanna Nash bit of input for you).
      Onto Alanna Nash and her book about Tom Parker. I believe Alanna Nash had a preconceived idea that Tom Parker was a nasty piece of work and spent an entire novel trying to prove it, but what she ACTUALLY did was use an inordinate amount of supposition to promote her preconceived idea of Tom Parker and that's all she did - but her suppositions get quoted and re-written in other books as FACTS when they are nothing more than what Alanna Nash THINKS. For instance her details regarding a murder that occurred in the Netherlands and how she attributes that to Tom Parker and why Elvis never toured abroad, is nothing more than fiction. There are many logical AND logistical reasons why Elvis Presley never toured abroad; this pile of utter garbage is NOT one of them.
      Tom Parker's contract with Elvis Presley was very concise and clear. He would take 25% of any Album and Movies Sales (Very common and expected back in the day, especially from a Manager of only one client), later it would include tour dates (only 25%), and 50% of any Merchandise Sales (unheard of because selling Merchandise had never been a thing until Parker started it). It's only been muddied over the years because of people like Alanna Nash desperately wanting to paint a picture of something that actually did not exist - and serving it to what seems to be a majority of an audience who desperately want to believe anything bad and/or heinous about Tom Parker.
      Billy Smith, Elvis' Cousin states that it was Tom Parker who had the original idea of opening up Graceland to the public, but that Vernon rejected it at that time because some of Elvis' family, including Vernon and Minnie Mae were still living there. It was HOME to them. Priscilla took Tom Parker to court in 1981, and Graceland was opened to the public in 1982 - this was only a couple of years after Vernon had passed. Perhaps Parker had been in the process opening Graceland to the Public, Priscilla got wind (she was regrettably back in the picture again) and BAM! Parker is being sued by her and EPE.

    It seems to me that the "Elvis life" would have been extremely difficult to handle as a parent, despite the fun times. Jo's attitude is admirable and her and Billy's love for each other is obvious.
    I never knew Pris was Catholic, apparently not a devout one. I'm so thankful Lisa at least got out of Scientology. Will say again it's a shame Lisa and her children did not have a close relationship with Elvis' family.
    Thank you for clearing up the "always wanted Pris back" thing again. That fairy tale is pushed incessantly despite those closest to him saying it wasn't so. Thank you also for acknowledging the pressure Elvis was under to get married. Other MM members including one of the best men have stated so on video, even just before the wedding. (What a horrible way to start a marriage.) I expect the movie to be fiction aka BS and don't plan to watch it.

    Dear Billy, I am an ETA here in London and I would be very grateful if you would be kind enough to take the time to answer a question. By the way, I consider you to be one of the most loyal and trustworthy people who was around Elvis. You loved him unconditionally and was with him right to the end. My Question: For his tour that never was (Aug 1977) what was the new jumpsuit which was delivered to Elvis? Was it the blue one with silver decorations which is sometimes on display at Graceland? This suit is sometimes called "the unfinished suit". You wrote in your book that Elvis tried it on but was unable to wear it because he was heavier at that time. Also, I heard that this suit was not made by Elvis' usual costume maker Bill Belew but someone else... do you know if that is true? Thank you so much for any help you can give us to answer this question! Bye for now, J.R.

    The new Elvis movie was for entertainment. Although I was alive when Elvis was, I was not a fan. That movie made me into one. I saw it on 1/28/23 and have been to Graceland three times since then. I showed the tour guides things even they didn’t know. I now have a PhD in Elvis. If someone is a fan, they will seek out the truth, otherwise it was simply entertainment. We really don’t know anyone’s real thoughts or feelings because we are not mind readers. For me, I just love to look at pics of E in his prime, watch him dance and hear him sing, the rest of it is none of my business.

    Does the Larry Geller story of Elvis having a regrowth of hair and he had to dye it with mascara make any sense to you guys? I think you said some of the guys told “stories “
    Thanks Dennis

      i saw that too- and i understood it as touching up grey root regrowth w mascara- as a cosmetologist since 1988- it made sense to me because they make root touch up in a mascara tube today.. i have also used mascara on grey hairs for funerals- so that didnt seem like anything unusual.

    I remember I read that Ginger Alden said Elvis told Billy this one was going to be big and was referring to his wedding with her. I have heard Billy and many others said the same line but Elvis was referring to his upcoming concerts. Ginger Alden is a liar too but she is not famous few interviews but if you watch them you can see she said different stories different times.

    First Happy New Year to the entire Smith Family. Thank you so much for your honesty especially on your recent videos. Jo you are such a pip I almost died laughing when you were talking about the documentary Loving Elvis and a few certain women whom I will not name here I know which one you were talking about. This lady must be living in La La Land since the mid 1950’s I highly doubt Gladys was “grooming” her to be Elvis’ wife. When she said Gladys said Elvis needed to sow his wild oats and by that time she would be old enough for him to marry her. I almost feel on the floor. Oh and yes their so called romance was ended when her mother wouldn’t let her come to Memphis and live with Gladys and Vernon to prepare her to be Elvis’ wife. I just shake my head. Well wishing you all the best in the New Year. Keep your videos coming I really enjoy them.

    Not that it really matters now because he shouldn't have said what he said in the documentary but David Stanley did end up making a statement saying that he took back everything he said and that he was sorry. I didn't really believe a word that anyone said in it and most of the women I'd never even heard of. I felt like Linda Thompson was the only truthful one. I think it was clear that the documentary was a money grab and we all know when money is involved people will say whatever they're told to say or even make up lies to obtain cash.

    Happy New Year !!! Hey, it’s me Ali, let me pop a question off, Hey Jo Hey Billy and Dannielle miss you all and hope u are all well. Question, the Book, Elvis Man Friday by Gene Smith, have you all read it ? If so, how accurate was the book ? I heard Elvis loved Gene and would
    Have done anything for him at one point until he crossed Elvis. I read where Billy or rather Marty once said, Elvis was around the pool when Gene showed up on a new Harley and hinted around on how he would love to own the bike ( I think he must of taken it for a test drive and popped up at Graceland) but Elvis never budged nor gave in to Gene’s hints for Elvis to buy him the bike ?
    Is Gene still around ?
    Anyhow, miss and love you all will be down soon - to visit.

    👋 HI, Billy and Jo and Danielle and family! My name is Chrystal Mae. I'm 32 years old, and I live in Albuquerque, NM, U.S.A. I've been a huge Elvis ever since I was 6,7 8 years old. I have a couple of questions to ask of you on my Momma's behalf: Did Elvis' Mama Gladys ever sing in the Sunday choir at church? My second question for you is: Do you think that Elvis would love his grandchildren as much as they probably would have loved him?
