@@musicuniverse1986 Oh, yes MU: i actually begun playing bass after i heard his ASTOUNDING performance on Birdland. Back in those days, i used to ask my friends: "what the hell is THAT instrument?" and they said me: "It's an electric bass". After that, my path was written!

You're welcome. Because of the recording quality that makes his bass a little thin sounding it's kind of hard to tell what bass he was playing in my opinion. But still, I agree with you that this was probably not the bass of doom. During this point in his life he alternated between many different basses, for various reasons.
