There is another way to do this. The wind speed is marked DOWN from the center mark. Then the angle scale is rotated to show the course. Then it is rotated so that the WCA and drift angle are the same. (Hard to explain--easy to do. --Gives the same WCA and groundspeed answers).

Elly Muriu to obtain your True Heading (TH) you need to add or subtract your Wind Correction Angle (WCA). You subtract to the left and add to the right.

Hey what do you do if the wind velocity is more than 50kts? Say 70... or if your true airspeed is more than 260? Is there some way to use scale?

Hi Ejano that is a great question, to be honest I don't know the answer to your question. I would have to do some research. I think you can scale the airspeed but not the wind. This is really not a common issue because these speeds scenarios are for jets and we never calculate this by hand.

Ahk, wow thanks for the reply! Yeah I thought maybe I was using the wrong flight computer but our teacher has given such ridiculous questions like 280 TAS and 115 kt wind! Even the CR-6 doesn't seem to go up that high

Well maybe most of his students have the calculator which you can put anything in it...

Are you still required to use this POS to get your private? Even the cheapest GPS gives you all this and more.
