@leisurelee83 he wasn't Traitor if he was a Warhound still which it sounds like he was fighting the corruption also there's a second one hope you've seen it
When I first got into 40k, I was drawn to Chaos by the idea of them representing some kind of “dual nature”. What soured me on Chaos was just how 1-dimensional it tends to be. I wanted to see the side of Khorne that I was promised, the side that despised sorcery as the last resort of weaklings, the side that valued the skulls of mighty opponents slain in worthy combat, the side that scorned base treachery and hungered for his champions to demonstrate their worthiness through their own capabilities. And far more often, I just found the same tired meme of BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE. Butchers are boring and predictable. But warriors…warriors can be so much more nuanced. So when I see a tale of a War Hound, awakening from millennia of unthinking slaughter and deciding to be reasonably angry about being sold a false bill of goods, I am *very* interested.
Blood for who? Skulls for what? I remember that line from the heresy novels where Angron is railing at Gulliman about "courage and honor, courage and honor!" Korne sells the illusion of noble combat. Testing of martial skill and the nobility of rejection of all but the strength of self. The irony to me has always been that the lie is told almost alongside these justifications: "He cares not from whence the blood flows. Only that it does"
Listening to Crixus slay the terminator makes me wonder how many World Eaters have come back from the influence of the Butcher's Nails and killed other World Eaters - Die like a warrior, while killing other traitors as a last act of absolution before being cut down. Most would be too far gone under the Nail's influence to care but it makes me think that maybe Crixus isn't the only one trying to right an old mistake. Great work always to Vox and the Author! ⚔️
Reminds me of an old black crusade character I had. His name was Krack and he had an unfavourable meet up with a necron deathmark once, this encounter somehow still failed to kill him. Long story short, he became lucid, no brain fog from the nails anymore, no rage, no bloodlust or pain... just silence. Ended up working as a mercenary for a roguetrader later on. He was my only character who got a "happy end" like that.
You’ve got a real recipe for successful but also unique content, brother. Your voice, story choice, and music selection is fantastic. Looking forward to going through the rest of your vox library.

Well if you like the taste of cordite there’s a great old story from the 2nd ed Space Wolves codex where Ragnar kills a Carnifex by stuffing a grenade right down its screaming gob! Ah, Good times.
What a tragic thought, that there are war hounds stuck inside a world eater's head being propelled to heresy by the nails for millennia. Only to snap out of it and realize all they've done. I would love an entire series on this character. I listened to the sequel first :D
Love it. At first I felt like Krixus' change of heart(s) was a bit abrupt, but after giving it some thought I quite like it. The World Eaters are impulsive and unpredictable by nature and that's not going to change no matter whether they're loyal or traitor, so a snap decision makes sense. I'm excited to see if the change is permanent though. I know the Gaunts Ghosts novels established the idea of "the armour of contempt" - that you can resist Chaos just by despising it enough - but to be able to reject Chaos AFTER having fallen and after 10,000 years of service to Khorne, in which most of that time was spent literally in the Warp... Well it would be pretty impressive. And it would open up a whole lot of very interesting possibilities. I know you're probably thinking the redemption of the Alpha Legion and the Thousand Sons, but consider what it might mean for the radical factions of the Inquisition - having proof that a person can immerse themselves in the power of Chaos then just choose to turn away from it would be a pretty convincing argument for allowing the use of Chaos as a weapon by the Imperium...

Crixus no doubt drew the appreciation of both the Emperor and Khorne at the same time. The Emperor appreciating the death of a warband and the prospect of Crixus somehow by some miracle eliminating Angron. Khorne does just like the blood and skulls but also appreciates testing his followers and even defeating his followers if they aren't strong enough. Has there ever been another individual to gain the eye of the Big E and a Kaos "diety" at the same time? Incredible story telling 👍

Everything about this story is so damn near perfect. The way it's written, the way it's read, sound effects, background music all go so well together. I've listened to this video so many times I can almost remember every word spoken in it. @@cc-bk3tx Yesss but an even more GRIMDARK Doomslayer who hates himself almost as much as his corrupted brethren. Oh you just made a brilliant observation Angron who preached about freedom from slavery and yet proceeded to chain his sons the same way he was with those blasted butchers nails.
@@KarakNornClansman the pre heresy word eaters may have been violet but I was surprised to learn that they held the largest number of loyalists than any of the other traitor legions. You can call them the emperor’s dogs or hounds all you want but compared to angrons iron leash the emperor let them roam free
So from what I understand from this story, a world eater, turned agaisnt his own brothers/forces because he felt it was wrong? I knew they killed anything that came in their line of sight or just for the sake of khorne, but I never heard of anything like this.
@@AVoxintheVoid To add on for clarity, Crixus doesn't fight to save the Imperium or protect its people; that's something of a happy accident. He fights because he recognizes that Angron turned them all into rabid dogs. His rage is that he allowed himself to be put on a leash, and wielded as a weapon to prove his loyalty to someone who didn't care then, and is beyond caring now. That he willingly let himself be bound as a slave to the Red Angel, and then to Khorne, as a perversion of everything his father told them he stood for. There is no saving what the World Eaters have become, including himself. All that remains is to put them down. Also, if folks want to see more of him (as some seem to), I was considering keeping Crixus in reserve as an occasional walk-on/extra in future tales... where he might be just as much a danger to our protagonists as he is to those they're fighting against.
Truth be told, I don't think he would have. Assuming Angron got the Nails, but the Emperor, say, sent some Gold Boys, went himself, or sent the War Hounds down to beat back the Nucerian armies (even better: one of those options, plus big Emps sends supplies, medicae, food, etc.), I believe Angron would have stayed incredibly loyal. Maybe even not mandate the Butcher's Nails for all his Astartes. The Emperor made probably the worst decision he could by forcing Angron to be the general E wanted him to be.
My type of music (I used to play this kind of music in a band several years ago) and my kind of story. Hell yeah. Well done mr. Vox, one of my favorite so far.

I enjoyed this one, not quite as much as the first World Eaters vid (something about the way you narrated that one really stuck with me) but still a good story (the author's other work - Almost - was also great).

This is my favorite one out of all of them. I listen to it at least once a day only to end up rewinding it like 8 times
Maxamillions story is honestly unbelievable
Lol I thought I was the only one
You've quickly risen to one of my favorite RUclips channels.
This was big one. I bet no one would have thought that 12s are capable of overthink their nature and current state of their existance. Great story, Neal. Perfect adaptation, Vox)
I've listened to almost all your vids, but this is my favourite. The music, the screams (can't have them enough), action and story. Magnum opus brother
Added it to my favourite videos. Hope the author will make a sequel :D
I keep coming back to this one. This is my favorite though im really looking forward to the rest of the "Black Ship Comes".
One of my personal faves too
Hay man, I’m a big audio book guy, and I just have to say you put out the best stuff I listen to. I binge listen at work
Thank you so much Michael! This is a huge compliment
Everything about this story is so damn near perfect. The way it's written, the way it's read, sound effects, background music all go so well together. I've listened to this video so many times I can almost remember every word spoken in it. This vid even somehow manages to help me get through times in life by the raw emotion I get when listening and connecting to it. Sorry I'm not trying to be weird I just really fucking feel that the people who put the effort in this be made aware of how much talent they have. Also I'm a little tipsy right now which sometimes causes me to get a little more emotional and dramatic than usual.
Glad to know that there's folks who really enjoy it!
The thought of some War Hounds set in a quest for vengeance and honor, struggling against the slaving impulses of the Nails, is giving me goosebumps.
Right?? Neal 'nailed' this story 😜 would love him to write a short novella about this character.
Just checked out your artstation Diego. My god you are talented. I'm sure I've seen your work when searching for art. How would you feel if I used your art in the future? Full credit given of course
@@AVoxintheVoid Thank you! And by all means, use whichever pieces you see fit. You're doing some wonderful work!
@@AVoxintheVoid Also, do you have any basic audio settings to get clean and crisp voice recordings? I have a decent mic and use Audacity, but I am just getting started with all this.
@@diegogisbertllorens7416I'll have a look for you soon and let you know the settings I use. I use reaper instead of audacity so a lot of my settings are for plugins in that. EQ is massive, tend to boost the bass a little to give it some beef and then boost about third of the way up to create presence without too much harsh S's. I'm still learning it all myself! A compressor is also key so you can level out all of the recordings .
Love a good world eaters redemption story, I've listened to this at least 6 times now.
You gotta finish crixus’s story I gotta find out what happens
Have you not heard "broken chains?"
@@AVoxintheVoid "Broken Chains" is amazing, is there plans to do more with Crixus?
There is indeed. Going to be an awesome story arc when it's done! Got some beautiful cameos lined up!
@@AVoxintheVoid I'm looking forward to the old War Hound's story, just finished a re-watch /listen of Broken Chains!
You are a master of your craft, as are the writers of these stories!
God fucking damn man
Hopefully this is a good 'God fucking damn'? 😎
@@AVoxintheVoid lol obviously, the narration, SFX and soundtrack perfectly conveyed that 'God.. Fucking.. Damn!' feeling to me

Awesome job man but honestly it makes me really yearn for a series about a World eater turning loyalist and then going on an endless crusade to mercilessly butcher all other world eaters he can find in the galaxy even though he knows he can never truly be redeemed or freed from the nightmarish embrace of the butchers nails...
I couldn't agree with you more John!
So a type of 40k doomslayer?
@@cc-bk3tx Yesss but an even more GRIMDARK Doomslayer who hates himself almost as much as his corrupted brethren. So basically the story of a truly tormented Anti-hero who knows he's damned himself a thousand times over and therefore is beyond redemption but simply doesn't care cause he's not fighting for himself but for the citizens of the imperium and the Emperor who he all betrayed...
@@Doomseer That does sum up Crixus in a nut shell! With a little bit of luck, I might be able to grant that wish...
Superb!
That was awesome! Your choice of music in these videos is always top-notch! Only a matter of time before you get to 40,000 subscribers!
Thankyou my friend! Takes me a long time to find the perfect pieces to accompany the dialogue, glad you enjoy it!
Easily top five favorite of your narrations, Vox.
This guy reminds me of the son of a woodsman. Deserving of redemption.

Oh you just made a brilliant observation Angron who preached about freedom from slavery and yet proceeded to chain his sons the same way he was with those blasted butchers nails.
40k is all about hypocrisy on every side.
Yeah, from the authors notes he was stuck in the warp for a meaningful amount of time with other traitors but he has managed to break the chains
@@theliterarymercenary1699 please keep him aliveeeeeeee. Need more of him

Amazing choice for the background music really drives home the out of control horror of the nails.

Educational video excellent and wholesome

I wonder how the warhounds would have turned if big E had helped angron.
Love it!!! Blood! For the blood GOD!!!!!!
Thankyou brother! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE

I enjoyed this one, not quite as much as the first World Eaters vid (something about the way you narrated that one really stuck with me) but still a good story (the author's other work - Almost - was also great).
I'd just also like to say that I'm so glad you find such good-quality fan-fics to narrate. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind you reading old fluff pieces, but it seems like you do your best work with your fan-fic vids.
