- I adore this excerpt and know I needed to do it at some point! So, to take a bit of a break from Lion excerpts (and to allow me to record some more!) here is a continuation of 'Dante meeting important people!'
It's this sort of thing that keeps Dante being one of my all time favourite characters in the lore.

So much sadness and pride, said with just five words.
Pride in that his son has become glorious sadness in that he’s to good to die I presume

@@josephbuckley5961 It's a Phonecian god. The Punic wars were Rome v. Carthage (Phonecians). Another location they inhabited was modern Lebanon, it's why we call it Baalbek.
This hits harder when put in context of Sanguinius speech at the Eternity Gate, where he made it clear he isn't going to force any human to defend it with him, or hold it against them if they choose to run away, because of their sacrifices up until that moment.
But he couldn't let Dante go. Wild scene, a crying angel, apologizing to mortal for forcing a life back on him.
I have a feeling Dante is to become the resurrected sanguinius idk how but I have a feeling that is where they are going with him
@@arandomguardsmen Imagine if Sanguinius finally lets Dante die and lets his soul pass into the Warp, and then replaces Dante's soul in his body with his own, thus becoming a resurrected Sanguinius - sacrificing his own peace for the sake of his son's, and returning to the world of the living
@@melrakan i like to think he will be one of the onely perpetuals. Dante is the purest beautiful of souls as is sanguinius.
Its heartbreaking but I like how you can hear the pain in Sanguinius words as he tells his son, his greatest son, that he has to keep fighting. He knows how much Dante has suffered and he wants him to have his peace, but Sanguinius knows its not Dante's time just yet.

It's not Sanguinius. It's The Emperor. Sanguinius' soul was eaten by Chaos. That's why The Black Rage exists.

Dante is one of those charecters who is tragically badass
Guy has met 2 primarchs, was personally asked to stay alive by his own dead primarch, defeated a hive fleet, lived for 1000 years and fought angron not to mention he’s gained the respect of guilliman and admiration of many others

Vulkan needs to come back, and give that hero a hug!

This is one of the most saddening moments in 40k for me...
Dante is one of the most awe-inspiring Astartes since their creation. He does not make it a secret that he is ready to die, willing to die, wants to die...
But the Imperium still needs him, the Sons of Sanguinius still need him...
So he gets back up again, knowing that he does not need to. Knowing that he could just... die... But he gets up and looks the enemys in their eyes and spits at them... again, and again, and again...
"You have done well my son!"
"So now I finally get to die?"
"Weeeeellllll heres the thing...."
Sanguinius, Robute Guilliman, now Lion el'Jonson.
These Primarchs are really insistent on Dante living.
I just read the Devastation of Baal.
I felt bad for Dante, but the galaxy needs him. We need him.
"STOP PROMOTING ME BOSS"
Dante. The Pittiest man we can have, since he's still hanging to the edge of living after his long service. His eternal and longing of rest will eventually be deemed and rewarded rightfully in time. Poor Old Man needs to achieve it goddamnit.
Might be a while before he gets that rest he deserves still I fear but, once he does get it it shall be such a relief for him and such a loss for the imperium!

When he dies we'll know the story of 40k is coming to an end
The lion wandered the wilds of caliban. Yet in this place midst the aethyr he saw it. Sanguinus. Or part of him. The lion was cought off guard.
"Hm. I wonder had we listened to curze we could have prevented much of this."
"...perhaps. ...i blame myself as well. For not being there for horus i mean. I could only think of a fraction of what broke horus so deeply."
"Indeed."
"Then answer me this. Why has father not sent you back? You already have several shards of yourself and half of yourself in realspace already. Why not come back?"
Sanguinus rose to his feet.
"It is not as simple. If i came back,all that i sacrificed might as well not existed. The fate i accepted could have been fully stopped if i willed it. i did not stop it because i saw all that came to pass, every branch to this point. And i know how mankind,the aeldari and the tau will join and smite the neverborn. I chose this fate because it was my choice. I did not want to burden my sons yet it was a concequence."
Sanguinus put a shoulder to the lion.
"As im sure you no doubt saw,under the veneer of humanity father made for us,we are myths made flesh. I am mikael and sammael. You are the knight king yet also ceaseless hunter. Guiliman is kingship and rule personified. And on top of that. Like vulkan,my name is not mine alone. All my sons,all those upon baal can inherit my legacy and become what i became. Myths are only made flesh when one makes there own and embraces it. Dour mephiston has inherited mankinds grief and rage and uses it to stand as a fell beacon of light. Gabriel inherits nasirs ruthless fury and my struggle. And dante...my greatest son has become more like me then he will realize. Even now i see it,growing in power."
The lion nodded.
"I am truely sorry brother. I wish we could have done something."
"Dont be brother. You have your home. You have father. You have guiliman. All of us will be watching."
The remants of the dead gather,nodding at the lion.
"Untill we meet under starlight brother."
Sanguinus vanished. The lion smiled.
"Of course brother. I promise. Your name,and those of what was left of our wayward kin that was noble and good will be remembered. For horus...for us all."

I don’t think enough people realize, let alone remember, Dante has led the Blood Angels as Chapter Master _way longer_ than Sanguinius led them as their Primarch. Even _the Lion_ is shocked at how ancient and tired Dante looked when they met.

This had me in tears, excellent job man! I was wondering, do you think you could do a VA of when Alexis Polux and Barabas Dantioch had their final moments together? Their bromance was one of the best things in 30k

Amazing work!!!! You can feel Dante despair and sorrow. Blood angels will always be my chapter as a collector and hobbyist so i thank you for this amazing video!
I am forever torn between the sons of Dorn and Sanguinius! and Dante is just such a wonderful character!

I just love the narrative of 40k timeline. Here dante just wants to die, and after talk with guilliman and his appointment as leader of Imperium nihilus he just flips around. "I cant die now when the imperium needs me most" just watching the stoicism return to him twice fold after his breakingpoint is glorious.
What an absolutely amazing job! So much pain and sorrow and you delivered it amazingly far play my guy 🙏💪

Dante could be the vessel used to host both halfs of Sanguinius soul ( the dark part inside Mephiston and the Sanguinor)
That would :
Adjust Mephiston power level wich is absurd at the moment
Explain why the Sanguinor visited Dante that much
Explain why Sanguinius told Dante he still needed him
And finally give Dante his final rest
I always loved the “band of brothers” speech he gives right before the final charge and releasing the prisoners of the tower of the damned.
I may add that to the list, actually, along with Sanguinius' Speech on Terra, like father like son!

Man, it would be so awesome if there was a Devastation of Baal movie, similar to All Quite on the Western Front.
I'm always going to be fascinated how 40k makes me feel so patriotic and sympathetic about a fake world about giant tank dudes that fight immortal space robots and killer mushrooms.
It is a special blend they manage of making something so utterly over the top and ridiculous still manage to be meaningful to so many people!

i know that the imperium has no concept of retirentment "in death duty truly ends" and all tha but this giga no... TERA CHAD lived, figth, suffer AND work for 1500 years...just give him the best retirentment plan in the imperium i dont care if they have to sold the entire golden throne!!
Been a while since I read this book, and I'm more adamant than ever Sanguinius is the next Primarch to return then poor Dante can get a break.
As much as I would love that (If they can do it without weakening his arc up to his death) I think it might just be Dante's lot in life to suffer, poor guy!

The Glorious Golden Hawk Boy lives.

Sadly, Glorious Golden Hawk Boy isn't actually alive. He is very, very much dead. However, his soul stayed coherent in the Warp, and as the second-most worshipped figure in the Imperium, it makes sense that he would gain some power as a demi-god.
If nothing else, he lives in our hearts! aha

40k does a lot of characters dirty but few can claim a worse fate than Dante’s unending struggle towards rest

And yet some would have you believe 40k is satire.
When Dante dies I would wish him to go in glorious sacrifice. Sacrificing his life to do something like set off a nuke or something like that.
Shit actually had me tearing up first time I went through it. Dante is the only character I won’t truly feel all bad about him dying. He will have earned his rest after all has suffered and him finally being at peace would give me much comfort.
Considering the latest lore drop of how the Hive Fleet is back and beaming straight towards Holy Terra, it may yet finally be time for Dante's rest. He was told by Sanguinis that he would perish saving the Emperor so I get the distinct feeling he'll be the heroic sacrifice that finally forces the Nids back to the fringes for a time
That would be a fitting end I think, more so than most.
Maybe as Calistarius became one with the black angel to become Mephiston, Calistarius often being spoken about in the past tense as if dead, Dante will do the same with the Gold Angel, becoming no more yet not truly dying.
I think I'd like that, it'd keep the struggle of a living Dante going on, it would merge him with the Gold Angel of Baal and it would put Dante and Mephiston as a sort of stand in for Sanguinius instead of having them just resurrect the Primarch himself.

I wonder, if the primaris surgery really restored Dante to full strenght? I mean the way his story is written before the whole Baal incident, his joints were aching and he had to drink copious amounts of blood just to maintain some semblance of combat readiness. Would 3 additional organs really do the trick on a space marine THIS old? I don't think even the emperor accounted for space marines to last that long.
I hope they let Dante become the first new Primarch. His story is great, and he is a True son of Sanguinius. Maybe they can write it in a way he got Sanguinius soul.
Sanguinius is and always will be my favorite Primarch.
It'd be a contentious plotline but I'd love for Dante to take on the Sanguinor, so he has the Gold Angel and Mephiston has the Black making them a sort of joint primarch.
Then release new more primarch detail minis for them!
