The fact that Dr. Mike walked out of that stadium with poise and sportsmanship deserves major props and to me is more important than him winning. But the thing is, he effectively intimidated Dr Mike and got into his head. There's a mental game here that isn't part of Dr Mike's repetoir. But I thought Dr Mike did excellently. You don't always win but you put up a good and entertaining fight!
The Diaz camp is like that. They are from Stockton and they are known for being jerks, trash talking, getting into your head, etc. Think heel in wrestling. It's partially to physic out opponents, but It's mostly just their brand and how they promote fights. They are the "tough street kids".

Kudos to you for not making excuses and recognizing what went wrong. Years ago when I was in highschool I was kickboxing, and at 17 I experienced what you went through here. Over trained, and I fasted for too long before fight night. One of my coach's friends was there before the fight, dude was a former marine and kind of a local legend in the fight scene. I told him what I was experiencing and how I'd never had this happen before. He offered a few pointers, and told me after the fight, he'd show me more if I wanted to. Guy I was fighting was VERY unorthodox. Not in his stance, but the way he threw his strikes, the angles and paths they took, made it really hard to react appropriately. Only reason I came out of that fight on top was bc I tossed my training out the window. This guy wanted a street fight, so I gave him one. I never abandoned the jab though, even if it's not working at first, one little chin tap will take their eyes off of their target and open them up. After the fight, that marine taught me that the way I was training at home was all wrong. Showed me the "mind over matter" trick for when I was doing cardio, when I started to get pain in my side and my legs felt like they were gonna buckle during a run, he kept pushing me over and over. Eventually, as he predicted, all the pain stopped. What started as a 2.5 mile run ended up being a 7 mile run. I applied that mindset and it paid off tenfold. Don't let your body decide against what your mind wants to accomplish
@@chiema9510 In my experience, at that point I was in the best shape of my life. And a 2 mile run was still grueling for me. I wasn't gasping for air, I just had a pain in my side and my calves were throbbing. The marine I trained with told me it was my body's way of saying "I'm not used to this, I don't like this". As long as you're not hyperventilating and your heart rhythm is normal, keep pushing yourself. If you need to stop and regroup, jog in place and move an inch at a time, just don't stop completely. You might feel nauseous, you might start dry heaving, keep pushing. When I hit that threshold, all that pain went away. The marine was about 100 yards ahead of me, and I took off at a dash and got next to him, and we jogged for another 4 or 5 laps around this huge park.
@@tjk21504 Amazing, thanks for sharing! I will try this on my next jog and not stop. Haven't practiced jogging in place to regroup. I have a similar thing where I get a pain in my side after ~1 mile and my legs and arms feel like logs. I notice that when I stop, it's usually almost impossible to pick up and keep going.
@@chiema9510 just don't overdo it, focus on getting healthy cardio first, then push yourself a little bit more every time. It's safer to throw in the towel a few times before you over-do it and hurt yourself
Dr Mike is just that kind of person, there's no place for him in this kind of sport. He's kind, good, friendly... But to be a good fighter you have to be an aggressor, a predator... He went there expecting good sportsmanship and solidarity, but found a bunch of animals. I feel bad for him. Feel bad for his failed expectations from this sport.
Just now seeing this Dr. Mike. Mad props to you sir. It takes guts to step into a boxing ring knowing the other guy wants to hurt you. No shame in a loss. Failure teaches us where we need to shore up weaknesses. People who have never boxed don't know the fatigue that throwing and absorbing punches causes. Sparring is way different than an actual fight. Sparring you aren't trying to hurt each other. You have protection gear. Anyone who runs their mouth I say this: Go buy some gloves. Take them to someone you know hates you. Tell them to hit you on the side off your head and then in your oblique muscles. You stand there in a boxers guarded pose. Then and only then can you run your mouth. Boxers are tough mentally and physically.
Seeing Dr. Mike be so polite and dignified is awesome. Trash talk and trying to rattle one's opponents outside of the ring/court/feild is kinda like a tiny dog making a show if being tough. Big hugs Dr. Mike, better luck next time.

Wow, you seem so grounded and humble yet confident when you could be arrogant and defensive. Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes of this fight.
What's the mind over matter trick you use for running? It's so hard for me to get in anything over 1.5 miles!

I wish you guys can show me as much love as you show this Channel! I know I’m not as good as him but I still make entertaining videos and with your help 1 day we will get there together 🫶🏼🌟Thanks!!
He probably doesn't see himself the way we do but dr mike is an absolute legend for endearing all he does. Props and more strength to you
I have mad respect for u for showing up to that fight. I think that alone shows how big ur balls truly are. I’ve had mixed feelings about u but ur sportsmanship in this fight was like no other and although I’m a nobody u now have my utmost respect.
Doctor Mike’s defeat was totally understandable knowing it was his boxing debut. He really did great and I believe he will standout in the future.
Didn’t he fight Idubbbz?
@@GoodTimeGremlin Idubbz's fight was exhibition. This was his professional debut
The fact that you even stepped in the ring with someone of this caliber deserves respect, but people don’t understand all the behind the scenes before a fight/match. The weight cut, the training, and the walk. Good job Dr. Mike.

this man is a doctor who is in great shape and does boxing. Most people can't even get in shape. This man is a legend for putting in the showings he did in both fights. If someone can't respect that then their just lost and there's no hope.
I've always been proud to see what you're doing as a doctor. I'm even more proud of what you did in that ring & events before it.
Treating opponents with respect is a sign of humility and HEART!
My opinion? You WON way before you even entered that ring.
when you have no prior experience and you jump into the bull pen, you're gonna get knocked on your ass, but you shouldn't feel discouraged by it. you took a lot of heavy hits (gotta keep those gloves up doc, that dude barely feels the weight of his anymore) and stayed steady, and that's a TREMENDOUS achievement. keep at it
He barely feels the weight anymore huh
Respect 🫡 Not a lot of people are brave enough to become a boxer, especially not a doctor but you really tried your best and that’s all that matters. You are such a respectful soul that nothing can beat ❤

Or on the other hand being a doctor makes it an easier transition. As a doctor you have life and death in your hands. When you see what you see what you see in the medical field and all
Honestly I'm just as impressed with how he took his loss as I would have been if he won. He stayed polite, looked at what he could learn from the loss, and allowed himself to be imperfect. He took a risk and did his best, can't ask for more than that.
The more a fighter disrespects you (especially from the Diaz tribe) the more they want to get into your head because they want to win the psychological battle before you enter the ring, indirectly you represent a threat to them. In a way it's more flattering than having them smile and look at you with a backhanded pity, because those are fighters not martial artists. So big props to you for entering the ring with another capable fighter, battling it out under the eyes of thousands of people. That in itself puts you above 90% of most men out there. Only real warriors are ready to put it on the line under this amount of pressure and stay composed. You are way more than your looks and it's truly inspiring.
Hey Doc, we absolutely have your back. You showed up and did your part better than anyone could've asked for. Failure is the greatest teacher, thanks for being there for us, so we are here for you. Much love!
Exactly we have your back since it is a good place to stand because you make such a great target for punches.
As a person who dose mma you respectfully did amazing. You took a chance fighting someone with more experience and you made all 4 rounds. You landed hits and took some powerful hits and still continued to fight instead of giving up. Hands down amazing fight and great job. Exited to see you go forward with this and huge fan of you

Don’t discourage yourself, you were not an “easy fight” against him. You went all 4 rounds on your feet, an easy fight wouldn’t have lasted till the end. Props to you🙌
Props to you for keeping your cool even though you were disrespected for no reason.
I almost started crying!! Seeing Mike hurt and bleeding made me so upset! I was so scared for him.
U wish u could bandage him up huh?
i felt the same
Yes! Same! I even fast-forwarded a bit thru it!

Ok but the fact that my man Mike didnt get knocked out after taking all those hits to the chin and being fatigued seems like a win in my book. Keep up the hard work doc, this is just the beginning
of your epic fighting career.
What was that weird overhand punch Avila kept hitting him with... That would be hard to defend.
Dr Mike, unlike the other fighters, genuinely smiling while flexing @ 2:46 . He looks absolutely proud of himself on what he has achieved. Well done. even if he lost, the training, time and commitment he has done to be able to fight is commendable.
Nothing but respect to you sir! Many have never put their bodies in danger like that. And never will. Great toughness shown by you as well.
He wins in my eyes, he actually had sportsmanship, and good intentions, I’m so proud of him for keeping his cool even if he lost the match.
That’s what’s wrong with America. He lost. There are no participation trophies in the real world.

As a amateur boxer myself, the sport of boxing is all about respect. Kudos and props to doc Mike. Truly an amazing representation of a good respectable man. It’s disgusting how many hardheaded wanna-be “tough” boxers there are.
boxing is about respect? lol
Well that's the thing, you're an amateur boxer. Your livelihood doesn't depend on how many tickets you are able to sell. Professional boxers fight to live, and controversy gathers eyes.
For most people life is rough and if you are devastated about getting insulted by some guy who lives by a public bad boy image you probably had to never deal with real problems
@@kawaranai9743 And in professional boxing everything is fake. This goes to show how social media has made it so that a completely idiotic person can have a job. In what circumstances can you be horrible to the rivals you meet, and keep you job? And not only keep your job be praised for it.

Sir you're a doctor and you did that well in the ring. You made everyone proud there. Congratulations 😁
No he didn’t. HOW is anyone proud of a man with an education that TELLS HIM that this sport will DAMAGE HIS BRAIN. And he goes on to get OWNED. HOW is anything respectable?? It’s a s**t show… he got DESTROYED
Id say hes the most educated fighter
@@UselessShyte he did it as a personal challenge. he doesnt need this career path unlike those with no other path left for them (due to their shitty character and shitty brain to begin with) but to sacrifice their bodies to make money. he can enjoy it and leave it. it would be incredibly rare for someone with less time to train and less experience to win against one thats has been doing it as living for long time. within that context, getting “destroyed” would be straight knock out first round or towel thrown by coach. instead, not achieving that against dr mike is an embarrassment for a combat sport veteran and claiming it destroyed would be petty salvaging of ego.
He didn't make me proud, made me ashamed, probably gonna unsub. I thought I was here for a doctor not for a brainless idiot challenging another brainless oaf to a punch off. Literally solves nothing, proves nothing, other than making him look stupid.
I didn’t even know this happened, but I’m honestly really impressed that you went face to face with a pro. The fact that you lasted all rounds without getting knocked out or down, kudos to you.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you made it big in the world of combat sports, just seeing that composure and technique, you’re going places. Can’t wait to see the next fight!
its only a mircale he didn't sad to see Mike showed zero head movement, except everytime he took a hit to the head.
Like watch the fight and pretend like Mike is wearing a full neck collar/cast. Like his neck just stopped moving.
And just like creator clash, he's unable to deal with a high stress combo, either he can't tale advantage of the opening he makes with a combo, or he just freezes up when he get hit, didn't initiate enough, or really any clinches. It was just poor boxing form, and he was outclassed in almost every aspect of boxing.
So much respect for you, Dr. Mike. Well done. You handled that guy's lame attempts at goading you into a confrontation with poise, then you took everything he threw at you and didn't go down. You are an exemplary human being and I appreciate that you're a positive force in this world.
"It ain't about how hard you're hit, it's about how you can get hit and keep moving forward"... still made us proud man!
Love the video. Gathering the team, training hard, going through all the hardship of dehydration and fatigue, getting punched in the face, all for the purpose of challenging himself and gaining experience. No ego, just hard work and courage. It's a really great personal growth video. I believe every fighter at the beginning of their career should watch this!

You didn't lose. You went after your dreams and made them happen like a champ. Just knowing that you did something huge, scary and risk taking is a giant win in itself! You didn't act like an immature bully like some of these fighters and there teams do, you handled the "loss" with grace, you're learning from it and moving forward. the "nosce te ipsum" on his back speaks volumes about Dr. Mike's approach to responsibility , not only in his practice, but also in the encounters in his life in general. I have never seen someone as laid back yet passionate, all the while being as respectful and deliberate in their interactions.
