    Freeze your rice for 2 days, that kills any eggs or bugs, then store it in food grade buckets with oxygen absorbers..👍🇺🇸

    💫👏👏👏👏 Im so proud of you guys! Your pantry is the mecca!!! I have those dry packets on my ebay to purchase. Thank you for educating me on the seriousness of what can go wrong. I would not have thought that about rice. I currently live in a much more humid environment than I grew up in and get surprised by how fast things get funky. I wish my family growing up knew this knowledge. I still remember the horror of the freezer going bad and all the wasted food. Time travel 33 years to last week and my mom did a similar waste of two freezers of food (not vegan). You can coonect the rest of the maddening dots. I dont know why other vegan YT people don't show their storage techniques for people to catch up!
    Oh can you share how to store your potatoes please. I put some in those white tubes intending to use them within the month and they went bad fast...

      Thank you! When I started I couldn't find any Plant-based or Vegan Preppers so I started my own. All we did to store the potatoes is cure them after harvesting which was just letting them dry out on the counter for 2 weeks. Don't wash or wet them. I'm not sure if you can do this with store bought. Then used a cardboard box and layered them with shredded newspaper and put them in the closet so when we open the Pantry, no light gets in until we need some and they are layered so they don't get light. The box and newspaper absorbs moisture so you have to use something like that.

    I love your videos, I also come back to this video to see what I’m missing. I see your deep freezer is on carpet, so I did the same, any advice to keep my closet cool as it doesn’t have a window or an ac vent.

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  9 месяцев назад +1

      I would install two vents in the door if you can't use the walls. One on the bottom to pull cool air in and one on top to force hot air out. This will circulate the air into your pantry using your central ac. Install a Ventilation Fan on top and route the extension cord inside around the door and to an outlet. Then install a Ventilation Cover only on the bottom (No fan needed) to pull the air inside and cool it down. Install both with grills out so it looks nice. You can shop around for other options and even buy a cheap door to modify if you are renting the house or don't want to cut holes in the one you have and just store that one in the garage.
      Here are the two items you need.
      amzn.to/47UuGsT Ventilation Cover for bottom of door.
      amzn.to/3RnWHn4 Ventilation Fan for top of door.

    So organised ! So we don’t need Mylar bags
    Just the buckets. And oxygen absorbers So much easier
    Thanks for this vid.

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  2 года назад +1

      I've never used Miller bags if you do need some like that you can use a potato chip bag it's the same thing and just iron the end but we take what we need put it into smaller containers and then we don't have to open the buckets that much and the oxygen exorbers killed everything in there by the time we first open it.

    We love soy curls. Just a tip if you freeze your soy curls they will stay fresh longer then a year. The company actually recommends to refrigerate or freeze that way they won't go rancid.

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  2 года назад +3

      The problem with freezing is the space. Our freezer is already packed with so much that won't store on the shelf. I did find some #10 cans that store for 20+ years of plant-based alternatives to chicken, taco meat, sausage and beef but haven't opened them up yet. I'll try them and show ya in the next video :)

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  2 года назад +2

      I'm not Vegan, I'm Plant-based and do add eggs to my diet from my own raised chickens but we sell most of them to help pay for the chicken feed. I'm becoming more self sufficient to live off the grid someday but I'm always going to put health first, then safety, then security in that order because that's the stats and order of all cause mortality.
