I think supercharger for the torque and somewhat simpler build process. I think you could make entirely sufficient power without having to mess with hot and cold side piping and oil feed lines for turbos, and all that nonsense. Tuning should be a bit easier as well. Boost control done by pulley instead of fiddling with wastegates and such.

we already saw the trip where everything went wrong. We should just focus on the great footage, the wild builds people have out there, the trails, and incredible scenery
The stock springs are so big because they are a 2 1/4 ton rated truck. Please Crack the geared hibs open and check the nuts that hold the output stub shaft in place. There are 2 different designs but they are both known for letting go, resulting in a tire departing the vehicle with the stub attached. I've personally been in 2 in 9 years of Marine Corps service. It is so surprising that you guys were able to lose that much weight just by changing out stuff and making custom stuff this humvee is an absolute beef cake I love this build. I do think a camper would look super cool with this truck the ultimate off-road overland machine.
Have you guys ever considered doing cerakote for some of your larger parts? You can build a simple oven out of some rigid foam to whatever size you need and curing temps are much lower than powder coat (as low as 150F). You can just use a heat gun for the heat source. I use this method for larger bike parts like frames and swing arms mostly. Then you don’t need to worry about buying a gigantic oven and don’t have to outsource for coating big parts! Aaron Colton has a lot of cool videos using this method. Love the work you guys do 🤙🏼
I do my powdercoat curing with a 1kw electric lamp heater - put the part on a piece of welding wire hanging in front of it. I move larger parts around in front of it and cure it in sections - Worth investigating for your bigger pieces
I just want you to know I’m a disabled vet injured in Iraq from an ied. You’re building my dream. Please enjoy it! I wish the government gave me more money so I could have toys like this.
Yes, the spring does carry the weight of the vehicle but that’s also the max force it sees (at full compression). The shock attachment sees higher dynamic loads as it needs to slow down the spring during extension (so thats the spring force) and slow down the vehicle during compression (mass times (de)acceleration)
Also, they're built literally for war so no shit everything is gunna be hilariously over built as a safety measure. I know if I had people shooting rockets at me the last thing I'd want is underbuilt suspension and drivetrain components lol.
21:43 Dude.... to think that you guys have built dozens of machines over the years without ever buying a new sheet of aluminum is wild. I do kind of miss the old street sign gas tanks, though 😂
