    The FE is the camera I owned upon graduating high school back in ‘81. Still have it, and you’re right the ability to do double exposure on it was amazing.

      The thing is also built like a tank. I’d bet yours still works fine!

      @@doublenegative4real you are correct, it is a tank, and with the motor drive hanging on it, it was an awesome tank. I would much liken it to the Sherman tank of World War II capable of a great many things.
      Question, how do you do double exposure on a digital camera nowadays?

    • @doublenegative4real
      @doublenegative4real  10 месяцев назад

      @@UncommonSense1776 Double exposures are only possible on a few digital camera models, Sonys can't do them in-camera for instance. Nikon, Canon, and Fujifilm does them however. Basically, you select the double exposure setting, shoot the first image, then shoot the second, and it will combine them in-camera. Works pretty much the same way as film as long as the camera offers that function

    I have an FE from 1978 and an FE2 from 1982. Basically identical. Neither ever serviced. They are slightly aged on the outside, the brass shows through the black paint on the older camera, some very small dents. Both work perfectly and are a joy to use. I will pass them to my daughter as heirlooms.

    I own an FE and absolutely love it. I will never sell it or get rid of it. If I could own only 2 cameras, one film and one digital, it would be the FE and the Fuji XT-2. For the most part, I feel that the images from modern digital are too lifeless and clinical, and that why I love my FE and the Fuji XTrans sensor. These two cameras help me capture life as I see it.

      I'm in a similar boat. Often when I shoot digital for my own work I'm using a Fuji X-E4 because it can be decently close to film. But if I have the choice, film all day

    as far as making videos is concerned you have a great editing style so keep at it. The FE is my favorite Nikon, unbelievably easy to use -- almost intuitive. I have two. I also have an FM3a an F4. I still use them all.

    Hey I saw a bunch of GVL SC shots here! I'm trying to decide on my first film camera - I'm leaning toward this or the Canon AE-1 or Pentax k-1000. This is a long shot, but if you're in GVL do you know anyone who has one of these for sale?

    I mean... there's the Nikon FE2 which is basically the exact same thing but with 4000th shutter speed. Wouldn't that be the "perfect" camera??

    • @doublenegative4real
      @doublenegative4real  4 месяца назад +1

      Haha maybe, but the FE is often $100 cheaper than the FE2. Also for my work and times of day I shoot I don’t need 4000th of a second on a film camera really. Just because something has more features doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better

    • @rgudmundsson
      @rgudmundsson 3 месяца назад +1

      I like the FE over the FE-2 due to its ability to easily use Nikon’s older non-AI lenses, many of which are fantastic, just by flipping a tab. The times I shoot 400 speed film in bright daylight and want to get great bokeh to eliminate background clutter I take the N90s, which goes to 8000 shutter speed, but is also much bulkier.
