I'm owning this camera since 1996 and it is still going strong. In addition to all the function you had nicely covered it also has mirror-prefire when using the the self-timer. It is just astonishing how many boxes of the really usefull features Nikon had ticked with this camera and accordingly it had a substantial increase in price on the used market, even rising about 25% over the last asking price new in box, when Nikon stopped making them.
The "Original" FE could still use both types of lenses. Thus, I bought an original FE instead of the FE2. So that I could use both the AI series of lenses, and the Pre-Ai series. But thank you for all this important information! I find your presentations to be very helpful!
Brian I now own 3 FE2's, 2 black and a chrome along with 2 FA's one of each colour, a chrome FM2n and 2 FG's again one of each colour. And out of all my Nikon manual cameras the FE2's are my favourite.
Great job as usual. I'm teaching my 13 year old granddaughter a bit about film cameras and photography. Found it cute when said there is a man on RUclips who has a camera like mine. I have the FM2(n). Solid and high quality and useful content keeps me coming back. Thanks for being study.
Great presentation. I still have my FE which I purchased brand new in 1981. It is still good but needed the shutter repair approximately 10 years ago. Also wanted to acquire the FE2, but people asking too much money for it.
Ok, the thing that drives me crazy about this camera is the film advance lever having to be out to fire the shutter. It constantly stabs my face if I’m looking through the finder, and because of this I find it the worst design of any camera I’ve ever used. Does this not bother anyone else?
Hi! I have an FE2, super new to film, and the film nob on the left side to lift and pop open the case fell off and now I can't roll my film in, I put it back on but unsure if I did that right. Any advice?
The mirror is missing? That's a rather disqualifying defect. I hope the seller listed it as "as-is" or otherwise indicated the camera is non-functional. I suppose a good tech could repair it if he had a donor parts camera with a compatible mirror.
@BriansPhotoShow Thanks. It's a gift from a client as an unsolicited and unnegotiated tip. So, no loss, really. The lenses and bag seem great though. I'll make a video about these when I have tine. Until then I'll search for some shops. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.
No TTL flash. You set the shutter speed to the flash sync speed (1/250 second), mount the flash, and set the aperture according to the flash guide number and range to the subject. If the flash has an automatic mode you set the aperture to the value required by the flash and then the flash will adjust the power level.
Brilliant introduction to the buttons! Just found an FE2 on e-bay and couldn’t remember how it worked. You helped a lot. Thank you.
I appreciate how you used the notebook covering those details. I could pause it and go over the info. Thanks for the video

I just bought the FE2 based this simple , clean and practical presentation. Thank you, Brian!
My pleasure! You will not be disappointed with your purchase.

Any quirky electronics problems for the FE2?
Nikon fanboy? You own 8 Nikon's??? Pentax made some really decent bodies and the Olympus OM is a must. You're missing out just collecting Nikons

Super Dope video!!!
best explanation! thx
I've heard of people buying a bashed up FM and cannibalizing its Ai tab to build into their FM2. Might be a fun winter project.

Nice review, thanks 😀👍🔥

Indeed it does. That's actually a very common complaint about this series of cameras.

Got one with the MD12. Still prefer my blk FE.
The MD12 has auto cut off. Eight AAs are pricey
Still great camera.
Thank you very much. I just got one, but the mirror is missing. Do you know if this can be fixed?

Thanks g
Nice !

A l'époque j'avais préféré le Canon AV-1, ce sont tous des bons appareil.

What about flash?
I've never used flash with this camera, so I'm not in a position to give advice on the matter.
