Incredible, without words here;
Extraordinary music, best choice without a doubt.
The 2012 Olympic games are my favorite. Everything was amazing.
Invite Muse again, please 🙌
Muse again please
So 11 years old me really watched this without knowing Muse was gonna be one of my favourites bands ever
I was literally thinking the same thing, I am acc shocked I never knew about them b4 2015. My 10 year old self was completely unaware 7 years later he would be listening to muse on repeat daily.
Exactly the same for me, but I don't remember watching this!!
Same for me :(
Same ha ha
I was only 9 and I never saw this, I wish I had because I would have liked them back then already
Muse should be perform at every Olympics opening ceremony tbh.
where do I sign to make this real
i agree.
Dom cracking up at Matt's flamboyant behaviour😂
The best
SURE!!!!!!!!
Muse is millenium version of Queen
But without VIH+ and with pants
SOMEONE FINALLY SAID THAT
I've always thought of their style as a mix of Pink Floyd and System of a Down.
Whatever made you say that?
@@mbee1591 Obvious Queen influences, and their music is as grand and bombastic as Queen's is.
the stage is shaking from Chris's headbanging
Underrated Band..
The band with the best live performances for the last 20 years
The backing singers haunt my dreams.
underrrated comment lol
Some people are not prepared for music as exciting as Muse's, they are surely dead inside.
Yup and Muse still wrote a song for them 😂
2:01 he is so good that he plays with his mind 😱
Yep, the were forced to do a playback, which they hate. Hence why Matt is very dramatic with the guitar.
Well Matt literally revealed his strength to the human race after all.
Seeing pink floyd , tool and muse live make you feel alive
Freddie Mercury would be proud. 😢😢😢😢😍😍😍
Ahahahahahahahaha
Same thought ever!
@@dinacamposlopes ????
???
Proud of what?
Still, after all these years I'm getting goosebumps hearing this song and seeing that performance. Out of this world. Incredible.
I've just come back to it after years and watching Matt play this so easily is just ridiculous 😅
I love that they led the choir choose their own personal style of dressing up and their choreography is everything
They haunt my dreams
@@louie8604 you need to find the footage, an hour, after this, when they sang backing for Elbow, and where happy and full of smiles.
M.Bellamy is an absolute GENIUS
That guy at 01:34 looks so motivated XD
Passion 😂
That guy is me listening to Muse in my room. lol
@@zackzallie8735 haha same 🤣
bro is thrusting
Imagine being your countries pride and joy rock band and being asked to make and perform an Olympic song. One of my favourite songs of theirs.
I have simple needs: I see Muse I click
Should be the official song of every Olympics tbh ;)
Will Martin pretty sure it was
agree
It was.
@@koregamer1996 The keyword was "every". Everyone knows it was the official song.
@@ilear9576 zzz
Such an underrated live performance. The real MVP here is Matt who still managed to play the piano with it rocking like a boat in rough seas.
I doubt the piano or the guitar is live. For the guitar, as a guitarist, I'm 100% sure it's prerecorded.
@@dirtyharry1881 yep, muse wanted to play live but only got to do the vocals. It is in part why frontman matt is acting so over the top
this remind me of marty mcfly and his solo..
guess the audience wasn't ready .. but your kids are gonna love it
that movie made it look like a white boy invented rock and roll. yuck.
@@braesidebikes4344 Chill. That's not the point of this comment referring to muse
@@braesidebikes4344 You mean Elvis Presley?
@@braesidebikes4344I don't think we want to start counting who's invented what exactly
@@braesidebikes4344 gee sorry... let's see,...... what did white people do?...( invent)........OK: >>>>>>> the piano, the guitar, the trombone, the base guitar , the drum set: (complete), the keyboard in general, computers, virtually every single instrument played in all the orchestra's of the world, all ( that is,).... ALL of the opera's of the world, all the music of all the operas of the world, German, Italian, etc. etc.......now your going to tell me the blacks invented rock and roll?????? REALLY????? the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, oh yeah. and a few very talented educated blacks helped also.... THAT'S REALITY.......
I love how at the end he gives a simple hand flip. He's thoughts must have been " nailed that one, your welcome world"
Dom cracking up at Matt's flamboyant behaviour😂
Hes cracking up at Matt making it incredibly obvious they are having to playback (which is something Muse has done throughout history). Which is incidentally also why he is acting so flamboyantly.
You can hear some whammy bar action in this, but Matt doesn't even have a whammy on his guitar (nor a Kaoss pad to emulate it). At 3:25 you can also hear the guitar start climbing the fretboard, whilst Matt punches his arm into the air, and then quickly adjusts to fake the guitar playing.
Muse rarely do playbacks. SMH
It's live.
@@Miguel-lu4ry You need to look up the times they have though, generally on talk shows where the hosts have no idea who they are so they swap instruments and ham it up big time hah!
Hahahahaa yeeesssss, I loved it!!
One of the best live tv performances of all time.
That's because it's not really live.
Yeah that performance wasn't live tho. I've seen them live and these guys can deliver 100%. There is no reason for them to duck out on this other than orders from above.
I love this song. It has the vibe of a Gothic musical and I can just imagine Matt being on a theatrical stage, singing this with such energy and passion.
it also has a thundering rock beat to the song as well
Honestly, I think it's about time that Muse fully embrace their cheesy side and write a musical/rock opera. Most of their newer albums starting with The Resistance are already halfway there!
Proving how much they hate playback XD
@@SyazwanSaidan voice was live
They don’t care where they’re playing, even if it’s the Olympics closing closing ceremony, you never make them use a playback.
@@Shr00b the track is a Playback. They sing live. The guitars and Drums are definetly not live.
@@miguelinpinpin 3:28 clearly shows that there was voice playback
The only thing is not live are the voices of the choir. They can´t afford in their performances to go with all the musicians that work with them always. I see jelous people here. XD
Can’t believe this was 10 years ago. Still remembered I stayed up all night just to wait for them to perform😂
I'm not sure if the choir is marking the closing of the Olympic games or announcing the imminent arrival of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Love the energy of the choir!
El baterista también hizo un buen trabajo
I've watched some Olympic openings and closing ceremonies in my life, but I think I have never seen and will never see one who will get my heart more than London 2012! I mean the Queen starred in a SHORT MOVIE with Daniel Craig!
And Timothy Spall as Churchill, Rowan Atkinson!
And Great Britain definetely gave us the greatest music of all times, and they pulled it ALL out for the ceremonies! I remember I was a teenager and Muse have been my favorite band since I was nine years old, I've had the time of my life seeing them at the closing ceremony!
Thank you London 2012 for this amazing shows, this Italian girl with a British heart will never, ever forget them!
It's 32 years ago today since one of the greatest rock band performers/singers of all time, Freddie Mercury, died. Watching this video, I am reminded not for the first time that Matt Bellamy is a worthy successor to Freddie in his vocal talents and his persona or personae onstage. Bravo, Muse.
1:10
Chris headbangs any harder, his head is gonna fly off
I watched this performance on TV during the Olympics, I was very happy to see my favorite band play this epic act!
Wonderful! This song is a true hymn!
The best song from the Olympic games of all time, beautiful song...
I was a 17 years old teenager when I witnessed this. one of the greatest performance ever !
Amazing! The choir is fabulous, it gives me chills.
This performance shook Mount Olympus and made the Gods tremble.
This song and performance is so underrated, they are so good!
Nice miming on the guitar at 2:01
Something about the tune along with the orchestra just makes this feel like the perfect song about people fighting for ultimate glory.
When you can’t get to sleep at night because this song floods your mind.
I can't sleep at night because of the choir
He is so talented
Im gonna put the choirs massive respect to complete this song and the performance itself. The combination are just perfect. Underrated performance in oympics ever
I feel so lucky to have grown up with this band
Him straight boogieing at the beginning is giving me life
Everybody admires Matt and Chris, so I want to appreciate Dominic ☺️☺️
3:36 He's like a shy and modest god.
Love that gesture!
guitar channel is pre-recorded. Matt uses his 7-string for this song, but here he's holding a 6 string.
if I remember correct only the vocals for bands were live. Everything else was pre-recorded, which we know Muse doesnt like.
Owen Canas And they didn't like.
you can also hear some whammy action here and there, but he doesnt have a whammy (nor Kaoss pad to emulate it). And at 3:25 he makes it incredibly obvious by throwing his hand in the air whilst the guitar track starts strumming up the neck.
Additionally and more obviously the guitar isn't plugged in??😅

One of the best live peformences ever!
1:11 Chris's head is gonna drop out of his body
Geoffrey MASSON I was expecting it to fall off and roll down the front of the stage goodness
The stage is rocking.... hard.
This song became my go-to motivational song before a competition to this day
Feel the adrenalin pumping and rising in your veins..
nice of you to post it almost 6 years too late.
Excelente banda
I remember seeing it posted shortly after the 2012 Olympics. What made me kind of angry......was THIS was the official song of the 2012 Olympics. NBC didn't bother to air this bit of the Closing Ceremonies. Instead, they cut to the studio.....to interview some American who had won a meddle for something.
Naaahhh never too late.
Muse deserve much more of this...great band, few like them!! 👏😘
The olympics where made for this song
Let us all imagine Muse performing a Super Bowl halftime show
They're not american

2020 Muse - Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best ever song of a massive event I ever heard before. Is really well the way Matt, Chris and Dom played that song. I love MUSE!!
Muse always awesome
Muse brings an energy to their music 🎶 and live performances that most bands can only aspire to, as seen by this performance.
For me, I like how impressive the male voices sound in that song. 🤙🏻
1:00 That blonde woman in the choir caught my eye.
Oh that would be Nicole Kidman she loves to slap her thighs "Ahhhhh" ing in her 8inch stillettos 😀
She look like Nicole Kidman.
>:O
The backup singers rock, some much intensity.
I was 12 when i watched this live on tv, if i had already been obsessed with them for a couple of months this sealed the deal, altered my brain chemistry for the rest of my life
As much as I love to watch Muse, I couldn't tear my eyes away from the bizarro chorus singers.
0:05 - 0:16 Matt's duck face at the Olympics - OMG I f**king love this man so much.
Good to see musicians making forced playback obvious, even if they have to tone down the obviusness
No recuerdo otra. Con tan espectacular repertorio de artistas. 👋👋👋👌🥰
Just remember one thing - never ever force Muse to play with playback...
Everytime I see muse’s vocal singing, it seems like Freddie mercury is back and singing. What an amazing voice!
1:54 Dom laughing at matt making the playback obvious
it's award winning playback performance, that's for sure 😂
the vocals aren't playback, it's just everything else
@Simon W he does that on most performances of survival, he points his mouth away from the mic to reduce the volume, because he is really, really loud on that note
Bellamy doesn't sing playback. Like, at all.
@@hannahg8439 there is clearly some playback here, they were forced into it.

3:35 most glorious farewell ever
I love how Dom is cracking up at the choir
Best song of Olympics ever.
Matthew Bellamy is a genius
LISTENING TO MUSE IS LIKE BEING IN AN APOCALYPSE 🤘🏻
This should be the Olympic anthem!

And I reavel my strength to the whole human race.... I LIVE FOR IT!
I love how Chris' strings are the colours of the Union Jack.
That choir did not come to play. Fierce!!!

Completamente de acuerdo
MUSE ARE INCREDIBLE....MONUMENTAL....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was in London at the time. I remember watching it live on TV and being so proud of them!
when I start the training at the gym to warm up with the rowing machine I listen to this piece!
