I always had high quality mattress covers, which I wash once a month. Two weeks ago, I actually cleaned my mattress for the first time in my life... Melissa, it smelled soooooo fresh, I will now do this twice a year. I watched your video, left the baking soda on for the whole day, and it was much easier than I thought it would be. 2020 was the year where I Marie Kondoed my condo, and I went from super messy to 80% organized. I spend much less time cleaning up, and my environment is much calmer 😊
The last time I cleaned the mattress I first vacuumed and then put baking soda that lavender essential oil was added to on the mattress. I took a wooden brush ( not hair brush) and lightly brushed the baking soda into it. I left in on about 3 hours and then vacuumed it. I also washed mattress cover, quilt , sheets etc . The bed smelled great and I loved knowing it was so clean

Thank you for the motivation to clean my room. I live in a one-bedroom apartment and I can't sleep on my bed because it's too soft so I sleep on the couch. So that made my room a place where everything gets thrown so that I can make my living room look nice during the day. Then I pull my blankets back out at night and get back on the couch. I'm motivated to get a mattress and make my room a whole new experience thank you!
Best habits are 1) multiple laundry hampers/baskets in the bedroom (clothing) and bathroom (towels, bath mats, microfiber cloths) and doing 3 or 4 loads of laundry a week 2) replacing the floordrobe by installing two boards over the laundry hampers in the bedroom as a place for laying out outfits for the day or to store clothing that can be worn another time or pajamas 3) automation for our iRobot roomba and Braava to keep a baseline of cleanliness 😊 The worst habits are normally my partner‘s because he doesn’t like cleaning 😅 but he‘s working on improving his cleaning game 😉 Great video Melissa! Our bedroom is pretty clean. Sheets are washed once a week, furniture dusted once a week, laundry is picked up every day, have no piles of paperwork, magazines etc, nothing is stored under our bed except for our dachshund, floor is vacuumed once or twice a week, our blinds are washed every 3 months, and bed is made every day. The closet needs to be decluttered but is organized. Same with chest of drawers and bedside stands.
I don’t use a bedspread. I have a dog I adore and he sleeps on the bed. I have a light blanket and I have a nice sheet I spread on top and it catches all the dog hair and debris. It’s easy to change and wash so my bed below stays really fresh. I make sure I make my bed every day and it’s a huge game changer. I used to never make my bed but I got a dog hair caught in my ear from my pillow and I changed my ways. I highly recommend this for pet owners.
I have a bad habit of putting things under my bed. My closet is full top to bottom. I plan on cleaning the closet after Christmas 🎄 because I do have some Christmas gifts in there. (Don't let anyone of my family members know) lol. Another bad habit of mine is that I seem to pile things on top of my hope chest, whether it be cleaned folded clothes or random books or papers. I Need Lots of Help and Encouragement! Thank you for All your educational videos. I have learned alot from them and I have been on a decluttering roll. I am giving things away, throwing things away and even selling some things here and there. Again Thank you 😊
Hi! Im so inspired by your videos! I would love love love to see a total house spring clean/organizing video with printable check list. I have never done a total spring clean because it had always felt so overwhelming. Thank you 😊
Oh my goodness 😢😢😢 Next to my craft room ... my bedroom is the worst catch all room of all!! Even my laundry!! I fold it put it in bins and don’t put it away. So I dig! It’s a huge room. So one side has a lot of storage things like Christmas, a/c when not in use, just stuff!! I finally got two large shelving units and a shoe rack. Had a weekend and filled shelves from piles. I used the 3 box system ( keep, using & charity) and it felt great! I’m going to have my son help me hang a divider so I can make it two separate areas. Hoping it will help me rest when I go to bed instead of seeing stuff at the other end of room!! My one positive is that I make my bed every morning when I get up :) Thank you for your videos! You help me remember to get things done! I’m a procrastinator, so thank you :)
I feel the same way about doing laundry as you do about vacuuming. Not so much the washing/drying, but the putting away. And I'm all about the random pile of laundry, mine is on the storage bench at the end of my bed...and I've definitely just tossed the clothes into the laundry bin (whether they're actually dirty or not 😛) rather than putting them away properly.
I am really good about hanging up clothes after wearing them or changing. But I am so bad at vacuuming and washing the sheets. I make my bed EVERYDAY, but hate having to take the sheets off and back on...... better do that today. Thanks for the inspiration Melissa & Chad!
I definitely slack on dusting my room but I'm really good at putting my clothes away or in the hamper. Also sharing a room with a toddler is a great motivator to keep things clean (and out of his reach)
Super bad habit: Definitely the floordrobe! I was a shift lead housekeeper at a upscale lodge so now I definitely appreciate the cleaning skills and eye for aesthics that I have (I really do like to clean!) but I am terrible at keeping up with laundry and keeping my room clean during the week.
I've watched nearly ALL of your videos, so I'm most definitely feeling like an expert cleaner right now. The only problem is getting out of bed and actually doing it. That's the only hump I can't seem to overcome :(
Best habit is when I strip the bedding to wash it, I use the pillow cases to clean the ceiling fan. The dust ends up inside the pillow case not everywhere, you shake the dust outside or in the bin and throw the pillow case in the wash!
You influenced me to sort my clothes, and to make my bed every day. It helps a lot. I still dont have a home for everything. My storage armoire is in the basement since I moved. I need it soon. You also made me ashamed of my tiny kitchen. Lol I am still working on getting it completely organized. You clean while wearing all white! Impressive

Ok, I will clean my room tomorrow. I've been so fixated on getting the main living areas spotless that I've neglected my own room... for like months now. 😬
I have the same problem. We moved in almost exactly 1 year ago to the day and I will clean every room except my own. There are things in my room I brought in when we moved that’s still in the bag I used to move them in. I know... Throw them away, but actually some of it is very important papers that need to be kept. Other stuff I am sure could have probably even thrown away before we moved, but it’s that dreaded paper clutter. Ugh!
i’m kind of the opposite, my room is the cleanest room in the house cause i see that as my sanctuary. i still clean the rest of my house regularly but i always prioritize my room:)
I'm blessed with a brand new master suite, thanks to home renovations. Best habit is cleaning this room on a regular basis, including dusting and putting away my laundry. Worst habit is not washing my sheets as often as I should.
A small organisor on the side table, keeps all those tiny items tidy. Once a week, I clear those items. Keeps the surface easy to dust once in two days.
I would like to point out that I have a ton, A TON of bad habits which is why i clicked on this video in the first place. In hopes that one day i will get it together and create a healthy cleaning routine FOR GOOD. I'm terrible and HATE cleaning but worst of all I suck at decluttering, I just DON'T wanna do it. Clutter on and in my dresser, clutter on shelves, clutter in my closets, clutter on my beside table, clutter in my bathroom. Gahhhhhh save me from my own madness! Because of this I have trouble organizing even my own mind....which we all know is never a good thing.... and dust.....don't even get me started....
Best habits is keeping the dishes and laundry caught up. Worst is, if someone else makes a mess I feel overwhelmed because my system is disrupted. so I just stop cleaning because the anxiety gets the best of me
Best habit is keeping a checklist in my planner so I know when I dusted, vacuumed, washed sheets. I dry to do it weekly and so it is very noticeable to me if I don't get to it. Plus my memory aint getting any better as I age. I forget when I've done these things last.
Hi Melissa! Great video as usual. I love watching all your videos. Really very helpful. I was wondering if you can give some tips on organizing medicines of all types in your next video😊thank you in advance
Best habits are keeping horizontal surfaces clear and scheduling a weekly clean (Sundays). Worst habits are tossing my socks next to the bed and leaving folded laundry in the basket.
I had been sneezing a lot lately but mainly only in my bedroom. I couldn't figure out why until I went and looked around. Turns out, my high bedroom surfaces are super dusty! 😁😂
Bad habit: Not dusting the blinds often enough Good habit: 99% of the time, I put my dirty laundry in the washer (I use it for a hamper; my apartment is small and there's no room for a clothes hamper). I also declutter, clean, and reorganize my clothes closet about 3 times a year. My clothes are organized by category, then by color (light to dark from left to right) within each category. My chest of drawers stays neat and clean, on the top and all of the drawers.
Hey Melissa, always great videos. I actually have written down alot of you cleaning ideas. I have a bad hip at this moment in my life and I was cleaning my bathroom before I got on. Only way that i am able to clean my walls from waist down is to use a paint brush duct taped to a rod. And use your idea about dawn and water. It works great. But I wanted to tell you that I have a shower insert that , being in the country I get those terrible hard water stains. I found a solution to it and its a product called WHINK. You can buy it at Walmart. It works unbelievable. You can see your rust just run down. Thanks for you many ideas,.You should put these all in a book foreveryone . Dave from Ohio
Thanks for the response Melissa, I appreciated it. I worked for Mcdonalds for 30 years at night and always was coming up with easier ways to do a job. They made my job so much easier. But I have had a bad hip for 4 years and everything is tougher. In Feb. I will get my hip done. Its basically for having 2 full time jobs for 45 years. The other was Teaching Tennis full time for 45 years . Thanks again.. Dave@@cleanmyspace
We have a bad habit of leaving clothing on the floor but i make a point that every morning when we wake up i pick up all the clothes, put them in their hamper. Then i make the bed and open the curtains before i leave that way i feel like i have accomplished at least 1 thing that day and i get to come home to a nice tidy bedroom. Which also means wave 1 is done and if i want to do a quick clean all i need to do is wave 2 and call it a day.
My closet "clean out" problem is the clothes i wear to work are absolutely NOT what i would wear on the regular if i did not work where i work (I work for a major retailer) so i have clothes for work and clothes i actually WANT to wear....its a struggle of epic prepositions
For my whole adult life - especially since having kids - my bedroom has been a dumping ground for....everything. Too much dirty laundry that doesn't even belong to me...the items that get moved from other rooms...the ice bucket that doesn't fit in the freezer, yes that is in my bedroom. I'm tired of it. My kids are teens now! Time to make a change. Just need to put the effort in. Man, that will mean doing a lot of laundry... 🤣
Some good habits: I have a basket for the my clothes I take off at the end of the day. It looks pretty and keeps my things contained and off the floor. I usually fold and put away the clothes as I’m folding my clean laundry. I also obsessively keep my drawers organized. Bad habits: I hate dusting. So areas like the base of our bedroom TV are covered in a layer of dust. 😝
For my large upholstered untufted headboard, I tried running a tacky lint roller over the velvet, and it picked up all the dust. This is great until I get the vacuum assembled for deep clean.
Under my bed is my luggage, extra homemade canned veggies (can’t stack and there’s plenty of horizontal space under there), extra paper towels and toilet paper (we order online in bulk) and a vacuum sealed seasonal clothing.
Has Melissa ever said if her Dyson V11 replaced her need for a full size corded vacuum. I know she reviewed the V11 Outsize, and I know she has used corded Dyson’s in the past. Let me know
I’m beyond terrible at cleaning my room, And everything else. I recently got into detailing my car and now I want to do my room! Though I tried pressing the link for the checklist but says error 404 on the website.

Fabulous video..I enjoy cleaning and organizing..thanks for the tips
hi is the cleaning checking list really for free because I am not able to access it
Yes, i had to look up "clean my space" bedroom cleaning checklist, exactly as i typed it
With Google
i love the video keep it up
I had been sneezing a lot lately but mainly only in my bedroom. I couldn't figure out why until I went and looked around. Turns out, my high bedroom surfaces are super dusty! 😁😂
You said you'd link your favorite matress protector below but....where is it?
Do you have any advice on cleaning candle soot/shadow on the ceiling?
I love this video
As a man your channel is invaluable.
Like your style of presentation! Xx from Turkey
Thanks for watching Ella Stella!
Bad habit: Not dusting the blinds often enough
Good habit: 99% of the time, I put my dirty laundry in the washer (I use it for a hamper; my apartment is small and there's no room for a clothes hamper).
Thanks very much for watching Dave and if you are interested, we actually released a book called Clean My Space which you can find on Amazon :)
Dave@@cleanmyspace
thanks again ,,enjoy your weekend
I need a huge decluttering video for my bedroom ,clothes papers...please.Thank you.
Love your shirt! Where did you get it?❤
The check list link does not work. Bummer, I was really hoping to use that.
Best habit dusting and vacuuming
7:34 Was literally fishing out 3 dusty picture frames from the under the bed abyss. I feel so seen 😆
Love your videos, they’re so inspiring!!! Thank you so much 😊
thank you. your content was very useful. i really enjoyed it!!!!
I am definitely Team Chairdrobe. 😆
Thanks you and have your help on the 3rd party thing to help us with our own event 😀 👍
Great video 💕💖💖💕💕💖✨💕
Nice and motivational, love it, thanks Melissa 💚💛🌸
Can't get over how cool your top is! Where is it from???? And as always - a very helpful video, on my to do list!
Do you have a link for the mattress protector? I do not see it posted below the video. Thanks!
I love your small bedside lights. Where can I find them? Also, what color paint is in your bedroom? Thank-you for the videos!
Once a week even in winter hang duvet with cover outside for an hour. Also open window for half hour every day
Wow superb 👌🏻Great work
Thanks!
Hello, thanks for sharing, vinegar with water,it really helped, speciao ij this pandemic situation 👍👍👍👍👍
This is so helpful
