In this very special Reedsy Live, we'll be joined by Fran Lebowitz, a former NY literary agent who's represented many bestsellers and award-winners, including Julia Quinn's Bridgerton. Over the course of an hour, Fran will review query letters submitted by viewers, offering her first impressions as well as practical feedback for improvement.
There will also be a live Q&A, so don't miss out!
Additional queries with mark ups from Fran will be posted to our blog in just a few days: blog.reedsy.com/live/query-critique-lebowitz/
Great class! Very informative and helpful. I've tried to find the reedsy blog post where you mentioned more letters might be posted with Fran's critiques on them? Where would I find that on the website?
It was great, Martin. Fran is a fabulous host!
Great Insite into the dark arts of Query Letter writing...Many are called but few are chosen. Michael
Really excellent. Thank you.
Interesting video about what goes on in an editor’s mind, but I need a better idea of what I *should* include before learning what I shouldn’t include!
Fran said to include: a quick pitch, a short synopsis, info about you, and comp titles.
Thanks for this informative video. Question: If a writer has sent queries to more than one agent at the same time, should that information be mentioned in the query letter?
What if you're writing a memior, and don't have any other books in the works? Would self-publishing be the better way to go?
How do I get notifications so I can enter these live feedbacks?

Different sites state that between 500,000 and 1 million new books are published each year, not including self-published ones. Yet, getting past all the obstacles and through the publishing houses' doors seems a Herculean task. Isn't there a mismatch in facts here? Care to elucidate?
