@Gary Thompson no way Chamberlain was better!!! Kareem changed the sport with his skyhook and was the way better skilled ball player... Wilt was better physical but that's about all
Thorgard Haugen wilt was in a galaxy of his own, he blocked Kareem’s sky hook 5 times in a row in one game, if wilt played for 19 years just like Kareem he’d no doubt have the highest records by far, probably like 47,000 points and 25.000 rebounds and 12000 blocks.

Kareem is the best player of all time, the greatest winner of all, won 3 titles in H.S., 3 in College ( UCLA ), 6 in the NBA, leading scorer in the NBA, multiple MVP awards, and so on and on, why he's not mentioned among the best? Kareem has a unusual personality, just like ALI - Russell etc who spoke about the injustice to the minorities in the 60's, he's not mentioned among the best players, however those that know about the game of basketball recognized his achievement, THE BEST
My childhood hero, and arguably one of 2 best centers of all time along with Hakeem The Dream. Statistics wise, He's the best player of all time... Also is one of the most noble athletes ever...
I was fortunate enough to catch Kareem as well as Dr J at the end of their careers. They both seemed/seem to be real gentlemen. They were/are excellent role models.
Statistically, he is the greatest basketball player of all time. MJ may have had us amazed with his talents, skill, determination, and great career, but Kareem probably has as perfect a basketball career as there can ever be.
Kareem is the GOAT? You can make a case that 1971 was the only time he was the clear best player on his championship team. In 1980 Magic won without him, and in 1985 when Kareem won Finals MVP, Magic averaged a record 15.2 apg in the 1985 Playoffs and a record 14.0 apg in the 1985 Finals. Got outplayed by Moses Malone in the 1981 playoffs & 1983 Finals. Got outplayed by Nate Thurmond in the 1972 & 1973 playoffs, also missed the playoffs twice in his prime after Oscar retired and did nothing in the playoffs in 5 prime years without Oscar/Magic. Also got an MVP with a losing record and missed playoffs in 1976 - proof of how weak his MVP competition was. Averaged only 13 Points, 4 Rebounds and 1 Assist for his 6th title.
The wonders of Wayne Embry and the coin toss! Can you imagine how different life in Milwaukee in the early 1970s would have been if Milwaukee had lost the coin toss to Phoenix? You would have gotten that guy who was born in Cleveland, Neal Walk! Oh the humanity! Ha!

He is very well spoken. I don't know much about his game other than what I have seen in highlight reels since he was before my time but the amount of points he scored in his career is truly remarkable.
Also, the fact that Kareem had to battle against centers and power forwards for rebounds is also something people don't take into account. He took a pounding down there night after night, and would still comeback and put up great numbers.
if you combine the top two greatest scorer ever to play the game 39 years career. only 5 years was the offense not being run by Oscar Robertson, John Stockon, or Magic Johnson. the same three that everyone considered the greatest points gaurd and floor general in the history of the game. how do you think Karl malone is above 3 kobe, 4 mj, and 5 wilt. kareem is one of the greatest scorer of all time but you can't look over the fact that he had help. kareem career was downhill compared to hakeem's career.
I don’t understand why this guy is not really talked about very much in the GOAT conversation. He’s a champion many times over, scoring champion, and generally free from issues. Am I missing something?
I would pick Kareem over Jordan for the one simple fact that he played center. Being that Kareem played in the low post, he took a physical banging game in and game out. This takes an effect on a player physically, rather than someone who plays on the perimeter. Kareem played in NBA's golden era and not in the watered down NBA of the 1990's..

+Billy Causgrove Magic didn't win without Kareem… You have to remember magic won the clincher in game 6 in 1980 but Karen was the MVP of the league that year and carried them in the preceding five games...there's no way they would've won a 1980 without the captain
How this man has matured over the decades. Sweet thing to see. There was a time when he was angry, and some may say arrogant. Yet, circumstances put him temporarily there. Good thing he got past that.
WHat a great player for the Lakers for so many years! He was hurt in the 79-80 season, and Magic had to take over and lead the team to the championship. His speech was very short, but he was straight and to the point. Thank you, Kareem, for the memories, and for helping the Lakers bring championships to the Forum!!!
Actually the New York Mets had a pitcher named Tom Seaver who arguably was a contemporary of Abdul-Jabbar. Some sportwriters in New York called Seaver "The Franchise." In the late 1960s and early 1970s Seaver was the face of New York baseball. He even did a documentary with Wilt Chamberlain!
I believe Kareem is among the inner circle of NBA greats among great players. I don't believe one player can truly be the greatest in the game. It's unfair to ignore some of the great pioneers such as George Mikan during basketball's infancy. Many fans are too involved in the right now!! I love the entire history of the NBA although I can't remember basketball players past the 1970s. However my personal all time inner circle greats are: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Jerry West, Bill Russell, John Havlicek George Mikan, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Hakeem Olajuwon and Kobe Bryant to date. Arguably, John Stockton and Karl Malone and some others may also be included. When Lebron James' career is over, he will definitely be among the GOATs and perhaps Tim Duncan as well. However, the initial greats I mention are special in my personal opinion because they are part of championship teams as well as being GOATs. All n all, I definitely enjoyed listening to Kareem's Hall of Fame induction speech. Awesome legend.
+RUMPELSTILTSKY Absolutely!! I look forward to Shaq's Hall-of-Fame induction when it's official. There are definitely a few others I have not listed that may definitely indeed be among the inner circle of NBA greats. I think basketball does an excellent job when recognizing the true legends of the game. True basketball fans definitely know which legends stand out from all of the greats enshrined within basketball's Hall-of-Fame.
nischal limbu You nailed it, Shaq and Yao definitely had some entertaining moments. It was a job well done by the Hall of Fame committee putting this year's special class together. This year's class was indeed a special one.
@@Existingg Kareem Abdul-Jabbar helped take an expansion team to the NBA finals in three years. The Bucks doubled their number of wins in 69-70 when Kareem joined them, from 27 the year before to 56, In his third yer in the NBA, the Bucks won 66 games. They swept the Baltimore Bullets (now the Washington Wizards) in the NBA finals that year.

Stop comparing players just appreciate every one of them.
The greatest center of all-time in my book! 💯
My #1 center as well.
He is very well spoken. I don't know much about his game other than what I have seen in highlight reels since he was before my time but the amount of points he scored in his career is truly remarkable.
He mastered the unblockable SkyHook
Caanan Nethken wilt blocked it
Eat My Shorts Eventually. But I mean that was his style of play. It was deemed unstoppable at the time
Caanan Nethken Wilt did Block his hook shot!
9307 Never said he didn't block it. I'm talking about later on as in the 80s
*The most accomplish player in basketball player.*
Very well spoken.
MASALLAH GREAT MR KARİM ABDOL JABBAR GREAT BASKETMEN ONE THE GREAT BASKETBOLMEN EVER
My favorite player ever
Wow, what a great speech. One of the best players of all time, truly a great human being.
Kareem you a diamond in every single way. My GOAT that's for sure.
Best center ever
To me what a very Humble Person he is! Well done!
I’m a youngster but I love this man. He’s so well spoken and just an overall great person.
Very graceful.
Also, the fact that Kareem had to battle against centers and power forwards for rebounds is also something people don't take into account. He took a pounding down there night after night, and would still comeback and put up great numbers.
He did a good job all around thanks
Damn I just respect this man so much more now.
Unbreakable record holder #1 all time highest scorer
GOAT!!!
nope
the dude He's the GOAT H.S., college, and professional, not Jordan!!!
if you combine the top two greatest scorer ever to play the game 39 years career. only 5 years was the offense not being run by Oscar Robertson, John Stockon, or Magic Johnson. the same three that everyone considered the greatest points gaurd and floor general in the history of the game. how do you think Karl malone is above 3 kobe, 4 mj, and 5 wilt. kareem is one of the greatest scorer of all time but you can't look over the fact that he had help. kareem career was downhill compared to hakeem's career.
Pure class. Bravo, maestro!
Kareem is The True 🐐🐐🐐, sorry for Michael Jordan fans, but Kareem was truly the Best Ever.
First class speech. Congrats Kareem!
I don’t understand why this guy is not really talked about very much in the GOAT conversation. He’s a champion many times over, scoring champion, and generally free from issues. Am I missing something?
Possesses the greatest offensive weapon in basketball... skyhook.. Greatest basketball player in his position.
He's the best
The best center.
Great basketball player, wonderful man
No one won't even catch up to Kareem this nigga is the real GOAT
+Billy Causgrove Magic didn't win without Kareem… You have to remember magic won the clincher in game 6 in 1980 but Karen was the MVP of the league that year and carried them in the preceding five games...there's no way they would've won a 1980 without the captain
Such a humble person
What a classy guy.
Except for stuttering here and there a very articulate and most elegant speech by the G.O.A.T. of basketball history!
Hes the best player ever in my opinion and i watched hundreds of games from 1969 until today on live tv and in person.
Yes, and some believe he was not a strong rebounder, but that is very mistaken. Greatest center ever, in my book.
Wow. He is a very classy guy. GOAT #2.
what a guy
Only player ever nicknamed "The Franchise". Class act and greatest center EVER.
Goat
Such a classy guy
Kareem was one of the best adversaries the Celtics ever had - those games were more like a war, and fun as hell to watch!
Kareem is a known introvert. He doesn't do well with the media, which is a must for a head coach.
The real Goat 🐐
THE GREATEST PERSONALITY OF BASKETBALL !!!!
Kareem IS THE GREATEST TO EVER TOUCH A BASKETBALL THEN AND NOW! THE REAL GOAT! GOOGLE HIM!
Awesome legend.
you sir, have perspective. maybe squeeze shaq in there
+RUMPELSTILTSKY Absolutely!!
+Todd Sands cant wait for shaq and chris and yao's speech you know they gonna crack some jokes
That's funny. Shaq n yaos speech were full of jokes. Lol
nischal limbu You nailed it, Shaq and Yao definitely had some entertaining moments. It was a job well done by the Hall of Fame committee putting this year's special class together. This year's class was indeed a special one.
And also him being in the movie Airplane brings kudos from me! Absolutely hilarious in that movie.
The true GOAT
ALL CLASS
My fav player
Kareem deserved at least 20 mins for his HOF speech. He’s the all time leading scorer for crying out loud
Starting a franchise? I’ll take Kareem.
Thomas Retallick instead of bill russel who’s won 2 rings as a GM? Sure pal
