When you fly at night, it's amazing at what you can see. I love flying during the day, but the night is equal to that. Beautiful city lights, beautiful plane, and I love looking back towards the wing as well. Even seeing other planes while being on the plane is great. I enjoy listening to these pilots and it's a joy to hear that radio too. Awesome landing that sounds great. I love it, awesome video.
A nice view of Southend Pier and the seafront at the start.....Quite interesting to make out Chalkwell, the A13 and Hamlet Court Road from above....great vid!
Not many. We always look for whatever classic planes are still around but some airlines don't really want to publicize they fly these classics unfortunately so we have to hurry before they're all gone...
Yes it was an awesome, aerial, nighttime view of a city and its airport ... but then, you would experience a similar aerial view approaching any city and its airport at night.
That is really...BREATHTAKING ‼ I always wanted to see an approach to LCY.🙂 This airport is really unique.👍 The video is such a pleasure❗👌 Thank you so much, JP‼👏
This is the first time for me to see the cockpit view of a FOKKER Aircraft. Waiting eagerly for the premiere to start. Thank you so much for uploading cockpit videos!! ❤ from India!
JP........Hello a very warm Welcome with this amazing views! Fascinating.....I wil give you a great compliment! Thanks for sharing and have a happy week;)) Many greetings Betsy.
There once was a sight that the pilots could see. And that sight was the approach to London city. Now thanks to the magic of the RUclips site. We can all see London from sky. Say thanks to the RUclips site. For allowing us to take in this sight. Say thanks to the RUclips site for showing London city at night Hope you enjoyed my paraphrase of the wellerman song going around lately.
i remember taking off from heathrow at night the view was amazing it was breathtaking and it kinda gave me a feeling of nostalgia and awe and wonder of the world
Amazing video. One of my favourite airports in London i live next to LCY. and I do enjoy walking up sitting down and just watching the comings and goings. And seeing this video at night it brilliant
Just to the right of the runway across the water is the excel university. You can walk to the edge and watch the planes land during the day. At night the gate is locked but we used to climb over and go there to hang out years ago
That was a really good landing. Although LCY is not the ideal place to butter but still a good landing nevertheless. The flare at the end looks really good.
absolutely stunning approach, I love landing and taking off to / from cities after dark or pre dawn, but what amazes me is how "slow" the approach seems relative to the ground, also how high it was until a steep decent to land late on, which I know is normal at LCY; one more thing, I thought this airline was VLM?
Yes, most air carrier and precision instrument certified runways have these taxiway lightning. Note it’s an alternating yellow and green until behind the hold short yellow lines, then all green on taxiways and ramps . Staying on centerline guarantees wingtip clearance if aircraft are parked correctly at gates especially in very tight areas like LCY. Also, in case you didn’t notice, as they were rolling out the runway centerline lights were alternately red and white. That starts at the beginning of the last 3k for 2k and all red for the last 1k, as a reminder for the crews having landed or rolled out long. Most towers have control of the field lighting( approach , taxiway and runway not obstructions) or they come on automatically using low visibility or just before sunset and off just after sunrise and sometimes 24/7 depending on the airport. There are also flashing strobe white lights ( called rabbits in the USA..slang term) embedded in the approach light system for instrument runway visibility minimums and alignment purposes on short final. The majority of crews will have the tower keep them off , as they are extremely bright ( they are adjustable.. but even on the lowest setting quite bright) and distracting. Hope this helps and I wasn’t too long winded. Cheers.
I will never get used to the 7.5° angle, which has now been changed to 5.5° when 3° is standard ... why didn't they make it 6, it would be so much easier because it is just twice the sink rate than what you are used to?! Anyway thanks for sharing these amazing views 👍
I have a question to the pro's out here......as of around 5:00 in the video, I can see a plane taking off in west direction (to Canary Warff etc.). I believe I heard ATC give the clearance for that takeoff as well. However, I do see the strobes of "something" approaching from the east direction as well ?.....It looks a bit like a take-off and landing in opposite directions at the same time....? Can anyone explain maybe what I am seeing ?? Thanks a mil !!! :-)
The instrument and visual glide paths are much higher (about 2degs additionally ) than normal because of the high buildings nearby and an added benefit is a lower noise print. Also, an airline’s crew AND aircraft have to be certified to use LCY.
Every video seems like a Premier and it shows up on my sub feed, but once it “premiers” it is no longer in the sub feed, I miss out on videos every weeek because of this
I’m very sorry Preston. I don’t really know why this is going on. I can tell you our videos start every Tuesday Thursday Saturday & Sunday at 9AM New York time and you can always visit our channel to catch up on new videos ruclips.net/user/JustPlanes. Also make sure you click the bell when you subscribe. That means you get an email each time there is a new video. Thank you
Good grief, that's a heavily polluted city. I have friends who live in London and tell me that when they have a cold, their snot turns black from the pollution - and seeing that heavy, brown haze everywhere, I can believe it! Lovely video, though.
London's City Airport, all very nice, I'm sure. Jeez, how many airports does London need? They have Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, and latterly, City Airport. One can't help but think that the money spent on City could have been put to better use elsewhere in England, or in its two vassal States ... and amazingly, there's talk of building yet ANOTHER London airport !

OK, it was a 'classic' city some years ago. I'm not sure that a trip here is worth the trouble these days especially if you value your life.

Loved the video! The approach felt so high, but a great landing? Maybe Im coming too low when flying FS2020? Ha ha!

9:26 - did the tower turn on those runway lights to show the pilot where to taxi? Never seen that before. Do many airports have that?

Seemed like a high approach.

LCY has a much steeper than normal descent due to the surrounding buildings.
Sarfend Pier!
How many times as co pilot does it take before you get to land the plane their?
was that the middle marker?
