All the Wizards get a thesis, Specialize and Universal. It is a basic features they all share like the fighter attack of opportunities or the rogue sneak attack.
Loved the video. I'd like to ask for a source on the comment that Universalist wizards cannot have an arcane thesis (6:44) as I don't see evidence for that in the Core Rulebook. (I'm only especially concerned because I love the Universalist wizard and I want to be able to substitute my spells when I play as one (that is if I'll ever be a player for once lol) 😭) (Edit:) I also want to make note that the Universalist wizard can start with a focus spell, specifically Hand of the Apprentice from the Hand of the Apprentice wizard feat. I honestly think the Universalist is just more customizable than the specialists, at least at first level in my opinion. Being a human with the Natural Ambition ancestry feat along with a Universalist wizard is an interesting concept to me, allowing the wizard to start with two class feats at first level, which I think is pretty cool. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see more juicy PF2E content soon!
20:50 pf2e recall knowledge mechanic already covers this. So a gm wouldn't necessarily have to try and combat the wizard's knowledge. Just set the DC and if the players built themselves into knowing that related information they will more than likely succeed
i've been waiting for the wizard basic impression and sadly this review does not put them in a good light. Compared against the other spellcaster the wizard is the one I like the most. There is so much more that I could say in defence of the Universalist wizard and how he interact with his bond item, but I don't think that it would be worth it. I recommend "The local disaster tour guide" on the wizard, if you want to be inspired by that class. In any case, thank you for the time that you guys took to put out these entertaining video.
First the universalist does gain access to the thesis this is not a specialist wizard exclusive so I hope if that is your reason for turning away you reconsider. Second is while a universalist will have 1 less spell slot of their highest level effectively for their entire career, when you pick up the right feats you can get access to cascading drain bonded item chains which give you more speel castings overall.
The universalist does get a thesis and is a fun play style for people who just like casting spells. They get a feat at level 1 and can use their spell focus a lot more often allowing for immense flexibility in combat
i absolutely love the 4 degrees of success when casting a spell, this is most often on the enemies saving throws, so like, they crit the save and manage to avoid the effect completely, or they crit fumble, and get a way worse effect
Any chance we’ll see a advanced dive into the classes you’ve already covered up to like level ten or mayhaps the other pathfinder classes from the advanced players handbook and other material :s
Someone said the wizards power over the martials in PF2e is the amount of options that spells and rituals give. All the options to target the monsters weakest defence

Was just checking this, yeah, they flushed that one.

For me howl feels more like a sorcerer. His magic seem more innate then something he had to study for to learn.

Everyone can use rituals
You may want to adjust the volume on this one, it's like half that of any other video.
