Great truck nipper spent a lot of my childhood travelling in my uncle’s on all my school holidays delivering fruit and vegetables around the country it’s what gave me the bug to drive trucks for a living 🫶🫶
Good to see the auld lorries comeback to life , I’m feeling auld now reminiscing back to when I started driving an Atkinson Borderer at 21 in 1980 , used to meet the Strathclyde transport guys changing over with their 111s and 141s , ( big Truckers 😁 ) you think back as if it was the good old days , not remembering the solid seat base , wooden doors where the rain came in through the top , air windscreen wipers , and a radio you couldn’t hear for the engine noise, Makes me appreciate the 450 Scanny I drive now . Hi Nipper, I used to work for John Osborn in Leighton Buzzard, we use to service Peter Roff,s trucks, a lot of Volvos at the time, his yard was on the Standbrige rd. Now a housing estate. They were the smartest trucks in the area. Love the vlogs
Love this. I bought a 143 out of dundee 4 years ago and 2 of they years its been in Ireland getting restored parts and labour are definitely the biggest thing especially when everything has to be fabricated as you say. But im proud to own one and much prouder of what the men restoring it have done for me looking forward to getting it back.
Brilliantly it together and a great insight for everyone, Peter Roffs we’re A beautiful sight to see on the motorway or autobahn’s of Germany, you could never catch them though! 🤣🤣👍👏👏👏👏

Wow that's a lot of work but a beautiful finish it's really nice to see one again they used to have a yard in Leighton buzzard not to far from where I live always remember that saying on the trucks riding on air well done fella good choice of truck and company 👍.
Being a HGV apprentice in the 80s, I can appreciate the work you do. For me, The 143 was the best Scania ever made. In 1998 l went to Holland, to live, and to work for Beers Scania, a Dealership of 19 dealer that Scania had brought back from Beers. I had the pleasure of testing the first of the 470 HPI. Because Holland is flat, we drove to the east of Germany to test them. I really like you attention to detail,and your knowledge. Thanks for posting.

I remember a black 143 with Evil Edna in red painted on the back. It had twin chrome stacks. Eminox I think?? It was bobtail on the M6 south past Lancaster. This was about 1996-7. Anyone know anything about this unit? Your motor sounds good. Not silky like the new super. Raw and unrefined. I like it. Manual box too. 😀

I remember seeing the Peter Roff trucks featured in Trucking International magazine at that time. I agree that the livery is one of the best and looks good on the Scania and Volvos they had.
I worked for a transport company called J.R Smith Transport Tring Hertfordshire as a drivers mate back in 1986 / 87. We had scania 110 111 112 113 and a 1980 141 V8. We had other manufacturers Volvo F10 F12 and F16. Later they bought in a oair of Mercedes powerliners with twin turbo V8 and that eps powershift gearbox. Awesome work you are a truck maestro.

Well done, massive respect to you . The 143 is an epic mans truck but this is an epic restoration . So much blood sweat tears and hard cash have gone into this project. Best to stay away from certain guys who just want to drive about bowing the horn 😀

I still speak with Peter from time to time & he assured me if he was still trading he would of had a 770S & an FH16 750 in todays market , would have been nice to see in his livery
I knew quite a few of his drivers . Always loved a Scania especially the older ones . I had a 164 like your one which was a 2000 Irish one . Absolute weapon. My 770S is good but miss a manual:)

Super vid Nipper , few years back i restored two cars and that was hard enough a Ford escort Rs turbo S1 and a Ford Sierra Rs500 cosworth , parts were still available then for them , can’t imagine doing a truck . I drove a 143 in the early 00’s was my fav work horse in my then employment as a class 1 driver

I’m not a trucker but my dad was.. When I was young (late 80s/90s) I’d get to go away with him in his Daf ati3300 But the scania 143 was my favourite truck followed by the Mercedes sk v8 The good old days 😂

Looking at those early photos all i was thinking was what top gears Quentin wilson used to say "WALK AWAY" far play to you for getting it done ,. I had an F88 for 25 years on the road 1976 to 2000 and repainted it and sand blasted it repaneled it about 5 times over those years untill i parked it in 2000, it stood for 5 years and detereated to the point of no return because i wasn't prepared to throw any more money at it, .I gave it to a local guy who had some old classics and this was around 2005, and he ended up weighing it in,. They weren't worth big money then, parked outside did for it, dry storage would have preserved it but i didn't have anywere to keep it , i guess we can't save them all,.It gets me when people say it needs saving when they see an old truck, well put your money where your mouth is and try it, throwing thousands of pounds at it and trying to source parts, spending endless hours working or it or give it to a restorer and have a humungous bill at the end of it,. Theres no easy answer and hats off to all of you that have done it,.

Great insight Nipper. I saw an old 1986 92M? Scania Fire Engine (former Strathclyde) recently and it had a lot of asbestos stickers. Do you have to be extra careful when doing restoration work?
Hope them air horns are not plumed in if you want to keep it original to Roffy spec he made good money but he was a odd yolk to work for 7 days a week run Sunday finish Friday was truck Saturday 😂

They weren't worth big money then, parked outside did for it, dry storage would have preserved it but i didn't have anywere to keep it , i guess we can't save them all,.It gets me when people say it needs saving when they see an old truck, well put your money where your mouth is and try it, throwing thousands of pounds at it and trying to source parts, spending endless hours working or it or give it to a restorer and have a humungous bill at the end of it,. Theres no easy answer and hats off to all of you that have done it,.

Hey man, love the video/videos. You've come such a long way. It's been many many years since we last met. You lived on Pier Road at the time ( probably about 10 or 11 years old) and you'd come down to 5 Ormiscaig with your wee brother Martin for a carry on and we'd fly some kites and stuff.

Great insight Nipper. I saw an old 1986 92M? Scania Fire Engine (former Strathclyde) recently and it had a lot of asbestos stickers. Do you have to be extra careful when doing restoration work?
I’d imagine the asbestos would be on the brake shoes - not used now & haven’t been for a long time
