  • In this video I go over the basics of re-wrapping (re-wiring) a Turnigy Park 300 1380KV motor. The basics could be carried over to any brush-less out-runner however things such as wire gauge, number of turns, and wire termination techniques would change depending upon the motor.
    Special thanks to the crew at FliteTest.com for inspiring me to take up the hobby and inspiring and enabling so many others to do the same.
    Another special thanks to IBCrazy at Rc Groups for posting the how to article that inspired me to make this video. The original article can be found at www.rcgroups.co...

    You cannot possibly understand how much I am in debt to you for making this video (hint, my school project was to create a brushless motor using a 3d printer, magnets and enamel wiring)

    really great video..i was searching online for a step by step guide, i stumbled upon this vid and you linked me to the IBCrazy guy, who has also done a great job explaining it to the novices..
    a lot of thanks to you..!!

    I too am new to the hobby and loved the video. I just had trouble with hearing all the details as the sound was at a level (pitch wise not volume) my older ears couldn't follow well. I do feel I got the better part of the information good enough to give it a go when I have a motor fail. Thank you very much! Also, like you, Flite Test is what got me interested in the hobby too!

      Thank you for the kind words. I've been out of the video making world for a while but will be working on a few new videos soon and will pay much more attention to the audio. And yeah, Flite Test had done a lot for the hobby. Happy Flying!

    If your motor gets damaged, and you want to salvage it instead of buying a new motor.
    Alternatively if you want a Higher/Lower KV motor you can adjust the windings count.

    Thanks for the tutorial, really well made. I wondered if you could give me some pointers on how you pushed the shaft through?
    I removed the C clip and tried using a vice but it wasn't budging, I read online that a few people have bent the shaft using that technique. I can't use the prop saver as it's too small and is fixed to the bell. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    • @smit6089
      @smit6089  10 лет назад

      Mine was extremely difficult to push through the bell. I heated the bell on an oven coil for about 10 seconds (similar to removing the bearings) and then hit it hard with a vice. Make sure you are using a socket or something against the vise to give the shaft a place to go as you are pushing it through.

    Would permatex shellac work for insulating the stator.

    • @smit6089
      @smit6089  6 лет назад +1

      It may but I'm not sure. To find out dab a small amount on some paper and allow to fully cure. Then use an ohm meter to check for conductivity.

    • @smit6089

      Dimitris Alexiadis I honestly just used CA glue.

      smit6089 cyanoacrilate? Is this like super glue? Logo type? I ask because I have damaged the insulation and Need to fix that first. Did it work ok for a long time?

    • @smit6089
      @smit6089  6 лет назад +1

      Dimitris Alexiadis yes. Just like super glue. Mine lasted about a year but then I over propped it and killed it.

    could i do this to change a motor from low to high kv by adding less turns?

    • @smit6089
      @smit6089  9 лет назад

      There is a lot of math relating to this that I will not pretend to understand but in my experience more turns yields more torque but Lower KV and less turns yelds less torque but a higher KV.

      thanks for responding my problem is i have 2 motors with much to low kv to use and i would like to change it its worth a shot i guess

    I am looking for , how rewiring sunnysky brushless X2212-13 Kv980 , number turn , and wire size etc.., someone knows you there make ? or to have one idea ? Also maybe a plan. ?? Thanks so much for your answer.

      Hello - I have now finished rewinding my Sunnysky - 12N 14P, in delta. Works very well.

    • @lawrencespies8674
      @lawrencespies8674 10 лет назад

      jeanlucvar Is there a formula to use for wiring a motor to a certain Kv? say 920Kv. I have seen kits to build motors using 9 and 12 stator. But I cant seem to find any info on how many turns with what gauge wire to achieve 920Kv.

    • @flat_stickproductions209
      @flat_stickproductions209 9 лет назад +1

      Lawrence Spies There is a lot of variables. I have a 12n14p that I am winding to 400 KV. The stator is 5020 so it will be different than this tiny stator. For my motor 920kv would be about 3 turns. I have not found one single equation that would work for everything. It a lot of trial and error. I just wind a motor with a best guess and measure it, then adjust from there. Remember, to test the motor you dont need to go through a full assembly. I just drop the bell on and fire it up, not worrying about cable soldering or securing the bell.
