Just burnt one of my fpv quad motors today. Really hard to ship in fpv part here in nigeria and quite expensive as well so I'm gonna give this a shot. Thanks for the clear and detailed video.
To our drawing thing was the ten seconds I've been trying to understand for more than a year. You, sir, helped me turn out my first prototype. Thank you man. Thank you.
MAN I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH. MY MOTOR WORKED. SUBBED AND RING ON. For those who are wondering I fixed my IFlight Xing 2207 1800KV motor. It's delta configuration. Big letters are 11 turns and small letters are 10. Cable diameter is 0.5 mm and 4 meters of wire should suffice. The rest is nicely explained in the video.
I am about to fix a Xing 2208 1800kv motor. Can't find replacements anywhere that will be here quicker than 3 weeks and cheaper than $40 for the single motor. I expect your info to be the same as 2208 and 2207 are almost identical.
@@dedestro make sure to fix back the stator with glue otherwise it certainly will not remain stationary, causing desync midflight. That's what I encountered in the end sadly... Also I would note the turns on the windings and measure the cable dia just to make sure but you should be just fine with my info too. Good luck 🙌
Nice instructional, I've been working on the technics of rewinding small brushless motors for a while now and it definitely takes much patience. I just leave the stator on if its glued because its to easy to damage during removal and although this dose make it much more difficult to wind you end up with a much better product. Ive found that household fans are a great source of wire for rewinding because the motor has a coil with 3 or 4 different gage wires that are the sizes you would find in these motors im rewinding with plenty of length of each and the fan motors are easy to take apart without damaging the coil. also finding a fan that doesn't work to recycle has been very easy for me.
You can use a qtip to rewind the stators. Qtip brand, (if i remember correctly) use hollow plastic straw type, just cut the cotton ends off and run the wire thru the straw. It's basically a homeade tool for more precise control with better rewind results and something to hold on to as you rewind. Since it's plastic it won't scrape the coating off the wire. You might have to slightly mash a end of the straw with pliers first if the stator poles are too close together to fit between the poles but it will get the job done pretty well. It sure beats doing it with your fingers. Note: some qtip brands don't use hollow plastic, but use solid paper instead and those won't work. It has to be the hollow plastic type qtips. This is something i came up with several years ago and used it so i know it works.
This is life saving! I am making a small home-made 3D printed brushless motor just for fun, how do you get a 3-phase power source and how do you know the power is sufficient? Thank you so much! I don’t need much, as long as it moves, I will be happy! Also in the winding table link you shared, what does the reduction number mean towards the last column of the table?
Hero patience! Thanks for sharing I have a big 5008 motor, with still some room on the stator, did you ever tried to add some windings to the existing ones? Do you think is feasible or i have to start from scratch? (I need to lower the kv, and i want to put as much copper as possible)
What would you recommend to wind a motor that looks like you wound the wire just perfect ??? It seems that when you wind the wires are kinda misshapen. Too many wires are crossed and cause early shorts circuits. Thanks
Is is perfect because my BLDC motor 2200kv lost its yellow wire so I’m gonna rewind my BLDC motor so that’s why I’m watching this video and this video was very helpful. Thanks for making a video like this
The video is very useful sir. But could you give me an advice to the motor mamba 1105 5500kv ( 9 teeths and 12 magnets) should use what cable diameter and how many turns ? I really need your help .
I like what you are showing everyone . You could save winding by testing each winding firstand leave ones that work. ? A sewing machine might know something 😃 Or 6 bigger poles ? Lots of motors might only be broken a little at the bottom . Magnets fall out and they still work.
I've bought some .3mm wire for a 12 pole 64mm outrunner. I'll reduce the kV a bit by using more turns and less wires in parallel. I need 21 wires in parallel and seems tricky because of tight space between poles. I'm using your video as guidance :)
What happens with the different gauge of wire? If you increase the gauge does it make it more efficient and slower like more windings does. Or does it make it less efficient and faster like less windings does? Or the opposite way so thicker is faster and thinner is slower. Also what happens if you use a dual winding instead of a single winding?
I think the fatter wires will allow more current and more torque? But it's an electro-dance between your power source and how the motor is wound etc? I Googled it..."lots of math" is your answer. 🤣
Thank you for your very informative "almost complete" instructional video on rewinding brushless motors. I said "almost complete" video because (unless I missed it), you didn't suggest or inform us on what gauge (AWG) copper windings we should use. For instance, can you either tell us what AWG you're using in this video? Or, what I would use in a Power 10 Brushless Outrunner Motor, 1100Kv ? Also, was the the epoxy glue really necessary to cover the insulation removed which may have occurred from scraping the old/burnt windings? Because I've removed quite a bit of this insulation while using a solvent to remove the burnt windings. And, since the windings are already insulated, do you think it would make much of a difference? Mainly though, I'd really appreciate suggesting a good all-around Gauge *AWG to buy? Fr my research...I'm thinking 32AG? Thank you!
Thank you for your instruction. I have one question here is How can you drive your motor without using hall sensor which using to detect magnet? Thank you so much!
Thank you very much. I did the process with engines from the Mobula 7 Happy Model 16000KV and it was perfect. It was only difficult to find a cold with the same thickness, I found it in a computer font. As they are 9 coils and 12 magnets it was even easy.
Hey I was wondering , if we rewind motors in delta system there are always many turns , how to wind it on stator ? Should I make first 10 turns from inner of stator to outer and then another 10 in opposite direction ? Or should I put 1 turn and second on top of it and so on ?
I have a 10" scooter motor that I pushed for too long and white smoke came out of it. It still runs but it is burned inside and sometimes the controller shuts it off under heavy load. Can I rewind it into a more powerfull motor using this method? I am mainly looking for more torque for the uphills, I dont need more speed. What effect would I get if I were to rewind it using thinner gauge wire?
very good !!!! Could you give me the recipe for that epoxy you used to repair the stator? in a hurry, I had to use nail polish on one of my motors hahaha, but I don't know if it will take the heat.
i have a a 48v 500w BLDC ebike hub motor, 10a continuous 280 RPM , they work fine but i need more speed, To get more speed at the same voltage i need less turns? the motor can handle a trip more than a 30km distance without heating to much (52°C max) so if possible i can use the original AWG wire or is recommended a thicker one?
Do you have any specific guess with regards to the ratio on kind of coil to wattage of voltage? Like how many grams of coil and what gauge needed to harness 2k watt power of 1500watts of 5kwatts?
You said " of" instead of " or " . The efficiency can be increased by longer prop diameter and slower rpm . 5kw needs a one meter diameter prop to produce 2.5kw useful thrust horsepower.
I'm only an ebike enthusiast, would you help me understanding electronic and engineering? Actully looking at tuning the motor to be able to change from star to delta configuration by the flick of a switch
Please sir I know u are very busy but I ah e made a diy bloc motor but I followed all the instructions but it won’t start it just barely moves back and forth for a hit and completely stops if u have any advice it would definitely help
Nice video bro... Full of knowledge..... I would like to request you to help me in my upcoming project of dc motor as you have a lot of knowledge..... Please tell me how can i contact you..... Have a nice day
Waiting for this video for month , have to rewire a DJI Ronin M motor . The hard part is the stator is in a hausing with some aditional PVC board dont know how to force the stator off without damaging the PVC
@@Joyplanes In certain cases ? or always, because I've seen different types, my aim is to learn how to calculate the inductance of each sequence. Thank you very much for the reply.
What is the formula for calculating the number of turns? i have a motor with 20 turns of wire, now I want it to run 10% faster what should I do? I only know that increasing the diammmeter and decreasing the wiring turns will do it but I don't know how to calculate the number of turns
Save resources. It's definitely worth it since people learn how the fundamentals of electronics. This is how we move further.
Appreciate it

Wow, this information is much more simplified than in the college study. I have a question, how to increase the motor power(W/KW)?
Incredible. I came here to learn to rewind a Fasco small inflation fan blower for a greenhouse but I learned something. Impressive.

Thank you I have did one motor and after four times it worked good thank you for all you do keep up the good work Donnie Eudy from NC
Question. What is better thick wire or thiner? Thanks for the video and information. You're awesome.
Thick wire, less windiings is equal to more speed.. thin wire, more windings is equal to more torque

Can we use neyodimum magnets in rotar or ferrite magnets r ok for better performance.
Do the windings all rotate the same direction? If not, could you switch the polarity of the coil and not the direction of the winding?
Thank you for your instruction. I have one question here is How can you drive your motor without using hall sensor which using to detect magnet? Thank you so much!
The ESC has that sensor and uses a neutral pole in every switch of polarity to detect the magnet strengh

133g thrust doesn't seem like much. Was that the original spec for the motor?

The easiest way to take the stator out without damaging anything is to push it with long bolts in the mounting holes.

Just buy an epoxy that stants enough temperature.
Thread locker is idea for that application. Guaranteed to hold up to the heat, can be used in thin brushed on layers.

For 1306 brushless motor which copper wire I use 0.25mm or other one
First view from my side😊
Hmm, clockwise and anti-clockwise, it is viewed from end of poles into the shaft? If so, then capital letters should be anti-clockwise winding no?
It doesn't matter as long as you are consistent and alternate according to the diagrams. He did mention that in the video.
