Jack Pearson plays a Joe Bonamassa Flying V. Most guitarists, regardless of genre, have played a Les Paul. All of these players sound like themselves. Greetings from Nova Scotia Canada Eh? Lol I’m a brand new subscriber and unlike your predictions in the video I’ve never actually listened to poliphia (sorry for butchering the spelling) and I’m brand new to the Ibanez world and wasn’t looking for an AZ and fell in love with the look of this one which led me to your video….Nope my story is actually way different …. I actually went from only playing a couple in big box stores and disliking them all to buying a first year edge tremol/RG model 1986 Roadstar RG440 that was so clean it could be called new old stock still has the paper on some of the back plastic covers so I got it to flip for profit and before I had even paid for it I was in love with the feel and justified keeping it because all I had was Gibson Les Pauls so the HSS and double locking tremolo and 25.5”scale made a huge difference and then a couple of months later I sold the first real Gibson I ever owned that I bought brand new in 2007 for a profit at that and I used the money to buy another Japanese Ibanez Roadstar this time it’s an 84 model with the less than stellar pro rockr’ tremolo but it’s got 24 frets the same bridge pickup but it’s got HH instead of HSS and it’s still got the push push coil split and it’s not quite as clean as the original one that got me hooked on Ibanez so I’m not scared to take it out and play it hard it’s got the same Roadstar DX neck profile that I’m absolutely in love with and that seems common with fujigen built guitars and even tho the bridge is lacking it’s rock solid for tuning stability so I just use it as a hard tail the only gripe I have with the RS530 is that the neck is covered in a matching black poly so I’m seriously considering sanding it down to bare wood and oiling it to match the factory feel of my RG440
the guitars? or the players?? I'm not knocking all players that have one... the syn was such a popular guitar that everyone just thought they could buy one and play like him!
I mean as long as it looks sick and it fits your style, I think it’s okay. That's why they sell it to the general public. The Ibanez THBB10 is one my dreams...I just gotta learn a bit more to fully utilize an instrument like that.
only signature i've got is the Epiphone Wilshire Phant-o-matic (Frank iero from MCR), quite a few mcr fans recognize the model but a lot of people don't. I bought it partially cause i'm a big MCR fan but also cause there wasn't really anything like it. wilshires really weren't in production much until the end of last year, it doesn't have a regular tone but a varitone (like a bb king lucile), a killswitch and single volume. it has quite the "punk simplistic" vibe without being quite as limiting in tone options as other signatures like the Blink-182 or sum-41 signatures which just have a bridge pickup and volume. i think it's the best signature option for fans of that genre for that reason
dude!... under-rated guitar and VERY under-rated player! his influences run deep and are so realistic. he isnt one dimensional and it shows in that sig!
Frank’s why I first started playing!! I’ve been playing guitar for almost three years now. He’s not wrong, I was a kid that bought a guitar because they idolized someone lmao. I will always want Frank’s Phant-O-Matic, but my sig is Jim Root’s Fender Tele, which is my baby. Discovered Polyphia around early 2019, and now oof, I feel the need to have Scott and Tim’s sigs lmfao
@@lunarscorpio3987 Both those guitarists from MCR are so different and they are the hidden gem in that band. they are opposites but compliment each other soooo well
@@jimmyfranklin I cannot imagine MCR being half as good without those two. They really added something to both studio and live performances, and of course, the writing. Frank has such amazing solo stuff, in case you want to check them out!
I had to get Tim’s guitar. It’s so fucking beautiful, the AZ is a line I’ve had my eyes on for a while now. The black and gold, the roasted maple neck, the pearl on the headstock, locking tuners, graphtec, like ... come on man. And it doesn’t even say his name on the back of the headstock or anything, it’s insane. I love it, I haven’t played in months and the guitar straight up inspired me
Tyler L exactly! And I wanna tell you. The ENTIRE AZ line is equally as inspiring. Incredible guitars for the next level of inspiration and playability!
Working Class Musician I totally believe it man. Mine came in on Saturday, and suddenly I started practicing and finding myself watching nonstop music content on RUclips. I’ve owned several strays and ibby’s in the past, but this one is far and away more superior to me, and the feel is incredible. The combo of it having a roasted neck AND it being so light that it’s barely noticeable is just insane. The wood breathes like crazy, super resonant
I have the AZ2204 Prestige, I am really looking at both Scott and Tim's, leaning more towards Tim's lol,That's just a sexy guitar. And the Ibanez Premium AZ224BCG - Deep Espresso Burst has gold hardware.
Yes!! But at the time of filming this they didn’t have that option! But Tim’s and Scott’s are still the best looking hands down!! If you do check the links in my videos for deals and if you use one of my links it’s no extra cost and helps the channel! But I also have a prestige and it’s just an unbelievable quality
@@jimmyfranklin And in a moment of shear irony, it looks like the premium model that had gold hardware included is now discontinued for 2022... I'll just be placing this foot in my mouth now lol.
Hey! This might be a strange question but I am trying to figure out what capacitors (if any) this guitar uses on the pots. Do you know at all? I know what posts it uses, just not sure what caps are in there. I'm putting the same pickups in my AZ and wanted to get the same tones but I can't find any info on the capacitors.
excellent question... its just a minor stigma that comes with playing someone else's "identity" and claiming it for your own... it would be similar to playing in a tribute band and claiming the songs as your own...
@@jimmyfranklin how is playing someone else’s signature guitar on stage the same as playing in a tribute band and claiming that you wrote the songs? That’s ridiculous…
@@aelmorky thank you so much!! im just trying to cover all styles evenly! there is a new black prestige with white pick ups that I'm looking at! ugh it is gorgeous!
Yes and no. You won’t sound like them but sometimes what they did is everything you ever wanted and you just like how special it is compared to whatever they always offer as a standard model. I love the Tim Henson signature. Nothing special it is like a strat hss. I wanted it because it has stainless steel frets and 12 inch radius so perfect for me!
Working Class Musician yep. Even the tremolos are nice compare to whatever fender offers and I like that. It’s sucks that for $1500 you only get a gig back but it is also loaded with Gotoh parts and dimarzio pickups. I love it!
I want to reserve a tim henson signiture its fucking sweet as hell, but im on the fence, i just bought a house and im trying to nerse my savings back to health before i buy anymore dumb shit lol.
Nice review! I have Prestige and Premium HSS; both great guitars. One main reason I prefer the AZ Prestige is the feeling of roasted neck. Neck on the Prestige feels very similar to an unfinished neck while on premium there is something like a satin urethane finish. Is it same for your AZs?
Once again awesome video and some very good points ! Love your lepage ..it's such a great playing guitar. I Enjoy your vidoes..they have alot of positive energy and are fun to watch!
I’ve never really been into signature guitars personally, simply because I feel like I have to play just like the artist. I know that’s not the case, but I would rather buy just a generic guitar and make it my own somehow.
I don't know how to feel because I've been saving up for my second guitar/ first good quality guitar and I really like the look, specs and sound of the synyster gates signature guitar but I see so many people on RUclips playing it for A7X covers and I feel discouraged due to the stigma with it being for A7X cover bands and Teens who worship synyster gates. I want to get the guitar because I like the guitar, but feel conflicted on buying it :(
Then get the guitar because you like the guitar. If thats the guitar for you then go for it. At the end of the day, you're the one playing it, so fuck what everyone else says.
Just found your reverb posting for this... killer sounding guitar, how's the neck shape though? Haven't been overly keen on the super thin ibanez necks I've played before.
exactly.. its a pretty thick neck... I was worried I wasn't going to like it but its SO comfortable. its nothing like the thin Ibanez necks.. im not a fan of those either. I actually got rid of my charvel because the neck was too thin
As a teen I had an Ibanez Joe Satriani so when I think Ibanez I think "paper thin neck" so that's definitely a positive for me. I developed tendinitis in my left hand and something about the small grip ends up causing pain after 45 minutes or so of play with a thin neck. My strat C and V necks I could play for hours with minimal issue lol
so this is his Signature pickup... its the igno. I'm not the biggest fan and I know other people with these guitars that swap out the igno for other pickups... its very good... not my personal favorite!
@@jimmyfranklin Those true velvet the single coil pickups those are really great sounding single coils it’s that hamburger that concerns me doesn’t seem like it would be a very good pick up
Bro! Love your vids/reviews! Have you ever considered comparing Harley Benton’s Fusion II to the AZ series? Obviously huge price difference but they’re ambition is to tap into that ‘Jam Track Central’ player. I picked up the Fusion II HSH natural finish with roasted maple neck. Looks kinda similar to Guthrie’s guitar. It has a modern C neck and man.. for $400 bones I have to say it plays better than my Ibanez PGM301 and $4000 LP custom. Like butter. I’ll prob change the pickups at some point but other than that it’s insanely great for the price. But I know Ibanez is going after the same type of player and I’ve been curious about how far apart these two guitars play. Could they be pretty close in comparison of feel? 🧐
I love it!! I gotta check it out but maybe ill do a review then a comparison!! that sounds awesome and I love the term " jam track central player" btw hahaha!
Jim root I always thought started the fad in making ur signature a lot less about the band and more focused on something u normally cant get from the brand and making it not scream whoever's band the signature artist played for. Could be wrong but once I saw Jim's tele come out seemed to see a lot more scaled back signature guitars coming out in the metal scene purposefully trying to escape what happened with synyster gates model having his name, the band logo and yea badass guitar but makes u feel like u cant go play ur own stuff on a guitar with that much band propaganda stuff on it.
I'm probably going to buy this one. It has everything I search for: HSS with regular single coils (Not stacked or Noiseless), Locking tuners, a 2 point tremolo, 22 frets and a Graph tech nut. I don't really care for the roasted maple or the stainless steel frets but they are nice additions. The only thing I dislike is that it doesn't have a rosewood fretboard but that's not a deal breaker. Would you recommend this one compared to the AZ premium/prestige?
WELL! im glad you asked!... i love this one... but i do think the standard premium AZ is better for the money... what is your price range?? check out these because there are a bunch of premiums for good prices but there is ONE new prestige with a rosewood fretboard: imp.i114863.net/AogGkN Where are you from??
@@jimmyfranklin Hi man! I'm from the Netherlands. I have a budget of max €2000 but I rather spend less than that. That Prestige has everything I want in my next guitar. Does the Prestige justify the extra €500 over the LePage model?
Honestly. The prestige is one of the highest quality guitars I’ve ever owned! Ever since I got it I have played it every day. And I’m never selling it. And I would buy it again. So I’d say yes. That’s my opinion and I hope when you get yours you feel the same!
I haven't even realized I have to signatures...I have a John Petrucci Sterling which is the most comfortable neck I've ever played and I have an Ibanez PGM Mikro... Paul Gilbert signature and it plays awesome... it goes really well cause I'm short and have really small hands lol... I got rid of the hideous violin panting and whatnot and made it pink/magenta... looks good, plays well, no one knows it's a signature model... best acquisition ever... I do plan on getting a SLM10... too expensive tho
Any thing Petrucci is great! Look great sound great and play great and everyone agrees you should play them! Most of Paul Gilbert’s are a bit flashy but for some reason people look right past them? Maybe cuz Paul’s followers care about playing very well. So they ignore the guitar haha!!
For Years and years ...cuz I'm getting old, I was strictly a Dimarzio guy but recently I started trying out Seymour Duncan true single coils like the SSL-1, the SSL-5 and the SSL-4 and they are amazing, the best but when it comes to full size humbuckers and hum-cancelling single coils I still prefer Dimarzio...I guess it boils down to what you hear.
I bought a music man valentine guitar. I don’t like maroon 5 at all but james valentine is a MASSIVELY underrated guitar player. I like his guitar playing and the valentine is a fantastic shape with fantastic features. That’s enough for me
how much do those go for?! I would love to do a video on one of those! and you are so right. he is insanely underrated! if I ever do a list of most underrated guitarists... he is my number one. spoiler alert
@@jimmyfranklin im in australia so prices are bumped up a little cause we are to far away, the sterling models are approx $1300 and the music man is around $3000. tell you the truth, with these two guitars, there isnt much diference, ebmm has a boost and coil split while the sbmm has just the boost. they are so close in comparison compared to other models
I'm about to pull the trigger on the prestige az. However, I am drawn to the Scott LePage. The 22 frets isn't a complete deal breaker but I prefer 24. Do you see a 600$ difference in quality between the 2? I haven't made my mind up yet. BTW, I agree, gold hardware is the tits. I'd grab the Tim Henson if it wasn't for the mini humbucker.
It’s like you em read my mind on all of this! Have you seen my video about the AZ2402 prestige??I have another video on my channel about that one. I have a review of the 2402 on this channel! ill tell you that the 2402 prestige is still my favorite and the quality is unbelievable. what are you using it for? playing live? recording? just for fun?
Working Class Musician thanks for the reply! Mostly for fun and recording. Although I don’t play a lot live, I do plan on doing it more this year.
@@backgroundnoise5840 recording, practice AND reliability with the roasted maple neck 2404 all the way. you can get great single coil tones with the split... as far as live goes, Tim Hensons guitar looks great on stage! 3 to 1 in my book.
also I meant to say 2402 in all of these replies! sorry
I've seen some people with syn custom
& They play really well
the guitars? or the players?? I'm not knocking all players that have one... the syn was such a popular guitar that everyone just thought they could buy one and play like him!
Yes
I mean as long as it looks sick and it fits your style, I think it’s okay. That's why they sell it to the general public. The Ibanez THBB10 is one my dreams...I just gotta learn a bit more to fully utilize an instrument like that.
isnt the THBB gorgeous??? thank you so much!
only signature i've got is the Epiphone Wilshire Phant-o-matic (Frank iero from MCR), quite a few mcr fans recognize the model but a lot of people don't.
Working Class Musician Very underrated player indeed. For a punk guitarist, he’s very clean 😂
Disagree my Martin Miller Signature looks stunning.
But I do feel like a LePage sig now
its a great one to have in the arsenal!! did you get it??
Yep.. because it looked gorgeous.. and gold hardware:)!
This is why I’m checking into this one? But there’s also the Ibanez SEW961fm
Great video Jimmy and so so entertaining! I have watched your video many times and purchased the same guitar,,,,,,,,KEEP UP THE GREAT PLAYING MAN!!
thank you!! I will keep them coming!! anything you would like to see more of??
Great one Jimmy! If you get a chance to review Joe's JS2410 sig I would very much enjoy that. Your video's are really really good. Thank you.....
Am I the only one waiting for a lick from Polyphia?
Then he smacks the trem bar...
SUCCESS!
HAHAHA at the time I was just getting into polyphia and I really just loved the look of the guitar!
And I mean. Who doesn’t love a whammy bar gargle!
Why would a Syn Gates not be acceptable? I see plenty of people play things other than avenged on them and it sounds great, they’ve got great sound.
excellent question... its just a minor stigma that comes with playing someone else's "identity" and claiming it for your own... it would be similar to playing in a tribute band and claiming the songs as your own...
@@jimmyfranklin how is playing someone else’s signature guitar on stage the same as playing in a tribute band and claiming that you wrote the songs? That’s ridiculous…
How does it compare with a regular AZ premium?

That’s the guitar for me for 2020! That red black and gold is just dang so good lookin!

YES!! practical reasons! plus... the Tim Henson model is sexy as hell!
Working Class Musician yep. Even the tremolos are nice compare to whatever fender offers and I like that. It’s sucks that for $1500 you only get a gig back but it is also loaded with Gotoh parts and dimarzio pickups. I love it!
@@noire1991 The gig bag holds up better than you think!! pretty well made!

Thank you!! that's all I want! to spread the love of music and guitar!
@@heshreds4049 Thanks for your advice! I just ordered it :D

Just found your reverb posting for this... killer sounding guitar, how's the neck shape though? Haven't been overly keen on the super thin ibanez necks I've played before.
The AZs have more of a Fender-ish type C shape.
exactly.. its a pretty thick neck...
Coming to you from Andy's Channel howdy.

Working Class Musician I don’t think you’ll be disappointed mayne!
I thought those polyphia sigs were prestige haha, due to the dark necks. Seems like many of the az premium don't have that dark roasted colour.
Jim root I always thought started the fad in making ur signature a lot less about the band and more focused on something u normally cant get from the brand and making it not scream whoever's band the signature artist played for. Could be wrong but once I saw Jim's tele come out seemed to see a lot more scaled back signature guitars coming out in the metal scene purposefully trying to escape what happened with synyster gates model having his name, the band logo and yea badass guitar but makes u feel like u cant go play ur own stuff on a guitar with that much band propaganda stuff on it.
exactly! I think Jim root is a great example of what you should do with your signature model!
WELL! im glad you asked!... i love this one... but i do think the standard premium AZ is better for the money... what is your price range?? check out these because there are a bunch of premiums for good prices but there is ONE new prestige with a rosewood fretboard: imp.i114863.net/AogGkN
Where are you from??
@@jimmyfranklin Hi man! I'm from the Netherlands. I have a budget of max €2000 but I rather spend less than that. That Prestige has everything I want in my next guitar. Does the Prestige justify the extra €500 over the LePage model?
Honestly. The prestige is one of the highest quality guitars I’ve ever owned! Ever since I got it I have played it every day. And I’m never selling it. And I would buy it again. So I’d say yes. That’s my opinion and I hope when you get yours you feel the same!

For Years and years ...cuz I'm getting old, I was strictly a Dimarzio guy but recently I started trying out Seymour Duncan true single coils like the SSL-1, the SSL-5 and the SSL-4 and they are amazing, the best but when it comes to full size humbuckers and hum-cancelling single coils I still prefer Dimarzio...I guess it boils down to what you hear.
it totally does.. im mostly a Duncan fan.. but these single coils in this model are BRILLIANT.
Is the neck on this anything like a strat?
I bought a music man valentine guitar. I don’t like maroon 5 at all but james valentine is a MASSIVELY underrated guitar player. I like his guitar playing and the valentine is a fantastic shape with fantastic features. That’s enough for me
