The little kids, "somebody call IX I I" 911. hah - So, I was curious on if Meg was actually someone in Greek Mythology and looked it up. " Megara was the wife of Hercules" then I read further. "Megara and Hercules had a happy marriage that produced several sons, and her role in mythology is really to set up tragedy for the hero. Megara is killed by Hercules after he is turned mad by the goddess Hera, Zeus' wife, vengeful because Hercules was a product of her husband Zeus' infidelity." So much for a happy ending.. sheesh, or shivers as you would say.
So, when I was 6 years old, my mom took me to see the Premiere IN HOLLYWOOD where they were doing this whole Premiere Event. All the merch, the news was there, showing off the Videogame, an Obstacle course, a short live theatre play, THEN finally the Movie. One of THE BEST Movie Experiences I ever had
Watched this in theatres when I was 10, I still have the stub😊the Disney series was also fun, the opening intro is the Zero to Hero song, and those gospel singers are a bit more in the series too. Mahn I loved my childhood. These early Disney films are forever classics.
This was basically Disney’s take on Superman. A being from another world, raised by couple who are also farmers that always wanted a child, feeling like an outsider. Even Meg has a bit of a Lois Lane attitude. And Hades is basically Zod. I guess since Disney couldn’t get any rights to the DC universe, they decided to use Superman’s story to make Hercules more kid friendly
Holy shit, you're right; good catch, mate 🤔🤗. And there's more: going to a fortress-style place to talk with a projection of his biological father, and his "superhero" suit has a piece of clothing giving by his "earth mother".
I doubt they ever wanted to make an actual Superman flic, with adaptations of modern IPs not really being their thing, especially since the few times they tried it didn't work out that well boxoffice-wise. But taking some cues for how to make the myth more kidfriendly, totally.
So not so fun fact, in the myths Hera curses Heracles with insanity so that he kills his wife (Megara) and his kids. His labors are meant as penance for that sin.
I'm so glad you're watching this. Hercules is my favourite Disney movie of all time. I know every song and every line (in Spanish because 🇲🇽) and I truly love it. I've been having the worst day, and watching you made it a lot better. ❤ Thanks 🥹❤️

This was growing up, and still is my favorite Disney movie to date! 😊 Love your reaction to this one, this movie had a great message! Also, the dialogue is just hilarious and the songs are fun and catchy!
this one is the most memorable cartoon I've ever seen in my childhood. I have their unofficial dvd, always play it every sunday. I love the art style and the creativity (like scene in those vase, absolute fav), the story (it makes me curious about greek mythology), the humor is so funny without being too much, and the color palette is perfect.
Yep, Danny DeVito voiced Phil and Meg is voiced by Susan Egan (I've only seen her in a sitcom called Nikki, which is about a struggling dancer who is dating a struggling wrestler. Egan played the sassy, best friend to the main character). And in case you didn't noticed, Hades is voiced by James Woods. And If you recognized Pain's voice, that's Bobcat Goldthwait. The older Hercules is voiced by Tate Donovan (mostly known for playing Mischa Barton's dad in the show The OC).
:D so glad that you decided on this one, i have no clue if you saw my comment last video but Its one of my 3 favorite Disney movies from the Era alongside Hunchback of Notre Dame and Aladdin.

Hi! You should watch Anastasia someday too, I would love to see your reaction on that one. It’s one of my favourite animated movies. Beautifully done 💕
This was my favorite Disney movie for years and years, up until I discovered Treasure Planet when I was about 16. And Go the Distance will always be one of my favorite songs. Speaking of which, I'd like to recommend Treasure Planet for you to watch some time! It's based on a pretty simple retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, but in my personal opinion, it's a far more compelling story than the original. The animation is absolutely gorgeous, and it's home to my new favorite Disney song, "I'm Still Here." It's not remotely as well known as a lot of other Disney movies from its time, and it's a real shame that it doesn't get the attention it deserves.
I love _Treasure Planet_ and I consider this one to be more underrated and overlooked than _Atlantis,_ Interesting you brought up this film as both that movie, _Hercules, Moana, The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Frog, The Great Mouse Detective_ and _Aladdin_ were Disney films directed by Ron Clements and John Musker.
Hercules is one of my FAVOURITE Disney films! And it has a fantastic soundtrack! PLEASE, please watch The Road to El Dorado next. It's such an underrated animated Dreamworks movie, with another fantastic soundtrack & loveable characters.
this is definitely one of my FAVORITES! so happy you reacted to this. not to flex or anything but i have the same bday as meg ;) i've watched this probably over 50 times in my 18 years and damn. it never gets old
What I love most about Hercules is that no matter what project the voice actor for Hades, James Woods always comes back to revoice him anytime. He's voiced Hades in the Hercules TV show, pretty sure he's done some Hercules games and of course every Kingdom Hearts game that had Hades in it (which I think is like the main 3 titles). He does not need to at all but I give him such props.
Go The Distance is my favourite Disney song, and back in 2022 I went to see the Back to the Future musical in London, where Roger Bart was playing Doc. It felt so special to hear him sing live
_About Hercules giving up his godhood for Meg_ “Awww, good, he’s doing the right thing.” Mmmmm….is he? I mean, imagine the _”What the fuck did I DO???”_ face when he realizes he could have made her his immortal wife like Dionysus did with Ariadne. 😆
Oh if you like this trope (grumpy old trainer and young over- enthusiastic student), you should consider watching Million Dollar Baby. It's so good with a great cast too
a skinny guy who bulks up and has super strength, fights hydra, saves the world from giant monsters and a pissed off god with brother issues, then rebirths the love of his life who was used by the bad guys as weapon against him. where have i seen that before? 😂
Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon are all the children of Kronos. They rebelled after seeing him consume their older siblings and killed him, separating control of his domains between them, begrudgingly for one.
@@HannahB09Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades and Poseidon were born of Rhea and eaten by Kronos in that order. Zeus, the youngest, was saved by Rhea substituting a stone wrapped in swaddling cloth to trick Kronos. Zeus was taken to Crete to be raised in secret by nymphs in a cave on Mt Ida. When he came of age, he became lovers with an oceanid named Metis (later the mother of Athena), who was a handmaiden to Kronos. He convinced her to feed Kronos an emetic potion, and he vomited out first the stone (omphalos, which became the foundation for the Oracle of Delphi), and then his swallowed children in reverse order. Hence Hestia, being the first born and last ejected, was called oldest and youngest of the kronides.
It steams my clams to see my baby Hades depicted this way! Looking at this movie again, through the eyes of an adult that studys Greek mythology for fun.
I gotta start using "Steams my clams" 😂 But I agree, there are quite a few webtoons comics that show him in a more accurate light. Of course there's the big one, Lore Olympus, but I also recommend Punderworld and Mythos Redone. The last one doesn't focus on him directly, but he does appear as a side character!
Just discovered your channel- I love that you're enjoying these classics so much. I'm reliving my childhood nostalgia through your eyes 😊 Hercules is 100% one of my top favourite Disney films, and Hades my favourite villain, hands down. Have you seen Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame yet I wonder? If not, HIGHLY recommend it.
One of my favourite subtle details in this is giving the saddest 'Gospel Truth' reprise to Melpomene, the Muse of tragedy. That and the way he defeats the Hydra; in many versions of the myth he has to trap the one immortal head under a rock. 15:40: 'Just use your fists' - I really thought you were going to say 'just use your fish'.
Don't feel too bad about Hades. In the mythology he got himself a wife/queen. Even if things weren't as uh... reasonable or relateable to modern day standards (looks at Zeus😒) they still became a total power couple. 😅
Glad to see you watch it.~ this is another quotable classic from our childhood. Edit: remember when Sazu said that Scar would make a nice throw rug? Well, there it is. XD
This movie was for sure a disney creation with greek myths thrown in but they changed everything to make it less dark. I loved this movie as a kid and it got me interested in the actual myths which I think makes it actually great for people to see if it makes them want to learn more.
Disney released “Hercules” cause they got a lot of backlash over their last two films “Pocahontas” and “Hunchback of Notre Dame” being too dark and focusing on real life issues and not light and fun for kids. The role of Hades is one of James Woods all time favorite character to play. Anytime Disney needs the voice for a video game, tv, movie, etc he will do it no matter what. This film was going over budget and Woods offered to refund his salary so it could be completed. Disney turned down his offer and found a way to complete it. Woods even changed the character. Hades was supposed to be a slow menacing character then Woods came in and impressed the crew with his rapid fire style. They rewrote the script but Woods still ad-libbed many of his lines. Woods ate watermelon to make the sounds of Hades slurping the worms. 19:59 that’s funny they had then “kids” say 911 in Roman numerals. “Somebody call IXII”. 21:35 this is the middle of the movie when Hades says “relax it’s only halftime”. Perfect spot to put it. 39:22 it’s interesting how they changed his voice when he became a full God. My daughter loves the part when Pegasus blows out Hades hair and he says like whoa is my hair out. She cracks up laughing at it. James Woods was an excellent choice for Hades.
Love this movie watched it many times,I had a cd that had multiple movies on it like similar to each other and my top two faves from the cd was Hercules and moses. Thx for reacting love your channel.

And the guy playing hercules has an amazing vocal range
Anastasia isn't a Disney movie.
One of my favorite joke is Hercules checking under the centaur before calling him "sir"
He was looking at the number of legs and realizing that a non-human might be offended at being called a man. Otherwise there'd be no point in changing "my good man" to "sir", it would be redundant.
Pretty sure he's trying to figure out how to address him, not by gender or species, but by title. "Sir" is better than "good man"
At 39:54 I always think: A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength… but by the strength of his size 🤣
2:55 Fun fact: James Woods loved him so much he said he'd be willing to play Hades no mater what the pay is.
17:00 Susan Egan, she was Ginny in "Achmed Saves America" and that's the only other thing I know her from.
25:31 Ever wonder how it got repaired from the hyena bits and got from Kenya all the way to Greece?
34:26 Well he is 0.01% god.
Definitely top three Disney films! Amazing soundtrack, top-tier voice actors, and of course James Woods and Danny Devito... it doesn't get better than that ❤
“That’s Phil’s boy” my favorite line
Probably my favorite disney movie! In Greek mythology, Hercules is born a demigod. They change A LOT for the movie hahaha you should put The Fox and The Hound on your list. I think you'd love it
Meg was voiced by Susan Egan. James Woods is one of my favorite villains as Hades!!! And Danny Devito? GENIUS casting!
I used to watch this on VHS all the time when I stayed at my grans for sleepovers back in the 90s. Such nostalgia ☺️
Hercules was a demi-God too.
Actually Hades wasn't that bad of a god. He was Zeus' oldest brother. Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus pulled straws for which realm they'd rule: heaven&Earth, the seas, and the Underworld.
"We dance, we kiss, we schmooze, we carry on, we go home happy. What do you say?" 😂 I love this line so much. I've been quoting it to my friends for years. Glad you enjoyed this movie. You can't not have a good time to be honest. It's one of my husband's favourite Disney movies too. Uh and the muses?! LEGENDARY. I LOVE that gospel music so much 😍❤ Great video again, Oscar. Big love from Manchester Uk xXx
3:46 - You don't get many movie reactors knowing who Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are so props to you!
The original "What are thoose?" 23:58
Yeah Megara is definitely a top Disney character with such a fun personality while actually being quite complex.
is this movie mythologicaly accurate? absolutely not. is it still very fun and a lovable classic? yes.
I'm a complete Greek Mythology nut, and I still love this version of Hercules.
Oof
So, when I was 6 years old, my mom took me to see the Premiere IN HOLLYWOOD where they were doing this whole Premiere Event. All the merch, the news was there, showing off the Videogame, an Obstacle course, a short live theatre play, THEN finally the Movie.
One of THE BEST Movie Experiences I ever had
Hercules is one of my favorite disney movie ! It's Hercules and Mulan for me
Scar became a throw rug 😂😂 just like zazu said
Watched this in theatres when I was 10, I still have the stub😊the Disney series was also fun, the opening intro is the Zero to Hero song, and those gospel singers are a bit more in the series too.
Most superhero characters are inspired by ancient myths
Fun fact, when Hades says "It's only half time" is exactly half way through the movie
❤ Thanks 🥹❤️
fun little fact! they’ve recently adapted Hercules into a stage musical! It’s not out in english yet and there haven’t been any released recordings of it yet so i don’t know much about it-
but still!! it’s so cool
26:25 I STILL WANT THAT STRESS TOY IRL!! 😂😂😂
Real bad
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You are my favorite YT reactor out there, I look forward to your videos every day!
This was growing up, and still is my favorite Disney movie to date! 😊 Love your reaction to this one, this movie had a great message! Also, the dialogue is just hilarious and the songs are fun and catchy!
The voiceover performance of adult Hercules is very reminiscent of Christopher Reeves' portrayal of Clark Kent.
Back in the day, this was one of my favorite Disney movies. Fun to rewatch it with you 😊❤
this one is the most memorable cartoon I've ever seen in my childhood.
"Somebody call IXII!!" Thirty years and I just caught that. Such a great movie. I have Hades on a holiday t-shirt. It says "Joy to the Underworld".
:D so glad that you decided on this one, i have no clue if you saw my comment last video but Its one of my 3 favorite Disney movies from the Era alongside Hunchback of Notre Dame and Aladdin.
Who else would love to see him react to brother bear ❤ 🐻 absolutely enjoy his reactions and the way he interpret things
Yes please!!
Yes! Brother Bear would be an amazing reaction :)
37:35 herc going full anakin skywalker for a second there
I love Megara's voice actor!! She voices a character in Steven Universe! I think you'd enjoy Steven Universe. The music is especially great, and the characters. :D I'd love to watch you react to it, it's my favorite show, ever. XD
"Somebody call IXII" lmao. Probably my favourite line.
Wow, I really liked your conclusion, especially when it comes to Hercules' humanity, that that was the reason why he got his "godhood" back, I've never looked at this in that way, really nice catch!
I always stay till the end because of these moments, you very often interpret movies in a valuable way, thanks, I hope you're having a good day❤
Best April day yet! Fluffy posted a clip about his trip to Australia 🇦🇺, I found grass jelly at the store and it lists Australian importers so its probably from over there, and now you react to this movie that was a childhood favorite of mine, wow! God is good! His blessings are endless. 🙏 God bless you all!
I must agree with you. Hercules is great, but it can't possibly top Treasure Planet. That's a masterpiece in so many different levels!
I couldn't agree more!
this is definitely one of my FAVORITES! so happy you reacted to this. not to flex or anything but i have the same bday as meg ;) i've watched this probably over 50 times in my 18 years and damn. it never gets old
What I love most about Hercules is that no matter what project the voice actor for Hades, James Woods always comes back to revoice him anytime.
He's voiced Hades in the Hercules TV show, pretty sure he's done some Hercules games and of course every Kingdom Hearts game that had Hades in it (which I think is like the main 3 titles).
He does not need to at all but I give him such props.
Treasure planet is a gem too, you will LOVE it !!!
Go The Distance is my favourite Disney song, and back in 2022 I went to see the Back to the Future musical in London, where Roger Bart was playing Doc. It felt so special to hear him sing live
my favorite joke ever. Kids in the gorge " someone call IXII, some help"
_About Hercules giving up his godhood for Meg_ “Awww, good, he’s doing the right thing.”
Mmmmm….is he? I mean, imagine the _”What the fuck did I DO???”_ face when he realizes he could have made her his immortal wife like Dionysus did with Ariadne. 😆
Hercules is very underrated, it's fucking brilliant!
Oh if you like this trope (grumpy old trainer and young over- enthusiastic student), you should consider watching Million Dollar Baby. It's so good with a great cast too
The Lion King 2 is SURPRISINGLY AMAZING, I hope to see that soon 😊
Yes, it's more or less Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. It's great.
@@melissacreel4719 Pain and Panic are loosely based on Deimos and Phobos, the gods of fear and terror.
a skinny guy who bulks up and has super strength, fights hydra, saves the world from giant monsters and a pissed off god with brother issues, then rebirths the love of his life who was used by the bad guys as weapon against him. where have i seen that before? 😂
where? :')
Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon are all the children of Kronos. They rebelled after seeing him consume their older siblings and killed him, separating control of his domains between them, begrudgingly for one.
weren't Hades and Poseidon also eaten by Kronos but Zeus cut them out of his stomach when he rebelled?
@@HannahB09 Probably. I've heard a few versions.
@@wolfywox I’ve read LO and Punderworld. Hades is better depicted in those webtoons but being a villain works for this movie.
The fact that a pillar fell on Meg’s whole ribcage and stomach and she still lived…
I mean I know she died but she still lived long enough to say bye. movie magic bby.
Great reaction! Hercules and Mulan are my favorite renaissance movies!
James Woods! BEST HADES EVER! 🔥🔥
I loved this one, the music was great.
Excellent reaction commentary.
This is one of my TOP favorite animated Disney films of ALL TIME!! It's original and classic all at once, and fun as hell!
💪❤️🎬
Don't feel too bad about Hades. In the mythology he got himself a wife/queen. Even if things weren't as uh... reasonable or relateable to modern day standards (looks at Zeus😒) they still became a total power couple. 😅
After Phil comes to help Hercules against the cyclops, you can see blood dripping from Hercules’ mouth.
Hades angry at Zeus but wanting to take over the world and goes after a innocent baby Hercules
"Let's just hope it's not that one that grows extra heads "
...
Glad to see you watch it.~ this is another quotable classic from our childhood.
Edit: remember when Sazu said that Scar would make a nice throw rug? Well, there it is. XD
Meg!!!! A wonderful witty Queen!!!! ❤❤❤❤ can’t wait for you to meet her!! My fave 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The 5 but with 4 fingers is the roman numeral 5. V. Theres little easter eggs like that throughout the movie.
Megara is voiced by Susan Egan, who was Tony nominated for her performance as Belle in the original Broadway cast of "Beauty and the Beast".
Love this movie watched it many times,I had a cd that had multiple movies on it like similar to each other and my top two faves from the cd was Hercules and moses.
Thx for reacting love your channel.
I love that you know Greek mythology so well because I have so many books on it and I’m such a big fan of it
