Your calucations are off. Its 23 since I saw you jump when there was nothing to cause the jump in the game in sky chase act 1 so you must have pressed the jump button
19:50 Here’s something pretty cheeky here: it’s not Eggman rotating the ship or part of the ship at least. As Sonic is doing his thing in that area, it’s Knuckles who’s rotating the ship while finding the Master Emerald pieces. I love that this game is one story but gives perspective to six characters participating in it, especially when those perspectives clash!
Also, I was thinking of ideas for a sonic adventure 3, and though that having multiple characters in levels would be cool, like sonic would take one path in the level, tails would take another, and knuckles would take another.
We must finish this saga. There are 6 more characters to play as. Knuckles and especially Tails sound pretty interesting. But that's only if you want to.
This is really a testament to why so many people like adventure era sonic. Just the amount of freedom in the sandbox. Being able to tackle problems any way you want. It's something games can learn from but instead people make fun of this game because the freedom at times creates jank
@@dukecherry5169 You can even see the effort behind all of it, if you look close enough. Especially with the pre-rendered cutscenes and the soundtrack. Man, SEGA almost never disappoints with the soundtrack.
This is a fantastic video! This isn't about the challenge itself, but something I wanna point out is that you mention that Eggman is rotating the ship in Sky Deck to mess with Sonic or whatever, but I think it's implied that it's actually Knuckles rotating it as in his version of the level, he turns the ship to make searching for the pieces easier. This isn't anything mind blowing or useful, but something I've always found very funny. Love the video man
23:58 You could've charged up a light speed attack, charged up a spindash, release the button for a split second (to execute the spindash whilst keeping the charged light speed attack), re-hold the spindash button (to keep it charged), and then release it at a certain time to make it to the platform. All whilst navigating around the platform to get to the other enemy. Hopefully that all made sense lol. You're welcome. Some neat tricks I haven't seen before in here though, pretty nice!
Are you talking about going from the 'impassable' ledge I paused at, and going forward aiming for that flaming enemy? Yeah, that might just work. I know its possible to combo the spindash and lighstpeed dash but never quite got the hang of it.
@@DPadGamer I am yes. Only one spindash is required, so it's not super difficult to execute, but it's still definitely not the easiest trick in the world, I'll admit, so fair enough if you can't get it.
16:16 It would be tougher on the Dreamcast version due to a lack of free camera but I was able to skip a jump by doing a spin dash jump skipping the pillars. Even with free camera, it did take me several tries.
Don't know if this was addressed already at 9:47, but it is fully possible to clip into the Race part of Twinkle Park (With Jumps unfortunately), but it is physically impossible for Regular Sonic to complete it. The Ramps and Speed-Boosts on the Race Track were not coded with Sonic in mind, so what will happen is that he'll get the boost of speed he needs, but then immediately stop dead in his track because he's touching the ground. Because of this, he can't clear the jumps you have to take over bottomless pits, and even if you Spindash Jump to skip those jumps, you'll most likely hit a Death-Plane, and die anyway. So that Jump into the Twinkle Cart is not only the better option, but it's also the ONLY option. tl:dr: You cannot beat the Twinkle Park Racetrack as Regular Sonic.
As someone that has been workshopping this exact challenge for years (at least since 2015) I can knock a few jumps off. Mind you I've been playing PC vanilla for the most part so idk if mods have any impact. It shouldn't but a forewarning anyway. 2:36 Jump #4 is a waste. The ramps collision is bugged, spindash from the bottom left and you'll get launched up to the top every time. 24:04 Jump #17 is a waste as well. One of the most well known bugs in the game is dual-charging light dashes. This means you can spin with X and hold it, then hold B and begin spinning again. This means you can release the second charge, begin falling and then release your charge to make it on the platform by attacking the enemy across the platform. I also have a video of me beating this level jumpless if you search up "Lost World Jumpless" it'll come up. not much to add to the last act of Lost World except that you can simplify things, again, by spinjumping (not a real jump!) on the buttons to save yourself a potential panic attack. 25:57 Lastly Jump #18. Spinjump off the conveyor belt and you can skip a jump. I know "spinjump" has "jump" in the name but it's not a real jump, just let Sonic ride off the ramp naturally. He'll get the height he needs. As an aside the fifth panel in Windy Valley is doable and even easier without the lightdash so I highly suggest to anyone crazy enough to try this, do NOT go for that early. Just spinjump (same as #18, not a real jump) on the trampoline from outside the fence and you're golden. Again not sure how much the mods complicate things but in theory between the two versions you can knock the number down to nineteen. And that's just with what I know. Congrats on managing this. Seriously it is not an easy feat.
Thank you very much for the feedback. You were right, I was able to skip jumps #4 and #17. For jump #18, I'm not quite sure what you mean, which conveyor belt, the one infront of the checkpoint? EDIT: Okay, I figured it out, and skipped #18... but man. This game's physics & camera are ridiculous.
Liked how clear you were when explaining all the tricks, made it much easier to understand everything you did, I hope that you do indeed revisit the game for other stories
No clue if you’ll see or read this comment, but good job on the challenge! I actually did a minimum jumps run of SA1 myself and overall this video ended cutting down the total a bit (going from 12 jumps in sky deck to 6). A few bits of optimization you missed were after the ladder at the start of sky deck, you can just spin dash jump to skip the cylinders and cut out 2 jumps, and in the mirror room of lost world you can take a careful route with light speed dashing to reduce it to 0 jumps. Overall though this was a super fun video (it brought me great joy seeing someone else suffer on chaos 4), if you do end up trying the other stories, I’d be more than willing to give any insight from my run over discord!
Dreamcast Conversion does actually affect gameplay by changing a bunch of minor things in the level layouts! But it shouldn't be too big of a deal overall.

There's something amusing about the amount of times it seemed like you'd need to jump just to clip through a wall/door instead. As for the other characters it might be worth a try, I'll admit the idea of a big the cat jumpless video is also amusing because of how dumb it sounds.

I don't think Amy, Big, or Omega would be too interesting, simply because Amy's hammer jump is too good (unless you banned it, but in that case she'd just be unable to do much of anything- still some interest, but less than Sonic, Knuckles and Tails who each have a few moves still available), and Big/Omega have no real mobility moves and their gameplay (mostly Big's) moves a bit more away from platforming in some regards.
I'd also be interested in an SA2 run of the challenge!
