Glad you're having fun discovering and exploring the different areas in Makati. I used to frequent that area (Greenbelt/Landmark/Glorietta) when I was still living in Manila. From my mom's place, it's 1 tricycle ride and 2 jeepney rides. But it's a lot of walking just to get to the other side! haha Yup, you gotta eat rice with your burger. It's also the same in Hawaii. They serve plate lunch (meat/rice/macaroni) at some of these fast-food places like McDonalds. Since it's so humid there, try a "halo-halo" at a food court. You'll feel refreshed. I think your videos are getting a ton of new subscribers (Filipinos). They love your spontaneous interaction with the people that you meet during your walks. You're a nice guy, Terry. You have a kind heart. Love the ending at 7/11. 😀 Maraming Salamat po!
Fun fact about the Philippine languages I caught up reading on Wikipedia. Is that the Philippine languages belong to the austronesian-Malayo-polynesian language family which is related to the hawaiian language. And appearantly the austronesians reached all the way to New Zeeland and Madagascar where austronesian and malayo-polynesian languages are still spoken. The roots of this language family seem to be from Taiwan and possibly eastern China a couple of thousand years ago.
Apart from english, maori is the other language spoken in New Zealand ( called Aotearoa in Maori ), so it would have it's origins from austronesian although that is the first I have heard of that , there are schools in NZ teaching maori to young students, Kohanga Reo schools, so maori is a vibrant and taught language to some students abnd their is a dedicated radio station all in maori, and Maori Television , ( channel 5 ), speaking the maori language ( Te Reo ), with english sub-titles , there are some english speaking programmes also.
Good video Terry, ( only found out in this video ), that 1st lobby was incredible ! and such a nice staff who filled us in with info about that hotel, and 91 pesos for a 500 mil can Tiger 2.60 NZD, cheap, noticed the sidewalks were wide in Makati proper, your friendly chat with locals makes your videos enjoyable and informative , guess your glad your not in Florida, with that Milton Cyclone about to hit Tampa By area ! warming seas seem to be the catylist for these typhoons etc, least the exodus will prevent tragedies , also check out Moal Boal, Obslob , Pangasama beach, snorkeling and entertainment area and Basdaku beach ( about 20 minutes from Pangasama beach ), is worth a day there, lovely safe white sand beach, several calenderias with San Miguel, you'll have a ball in Moal Boal Terry !
Fun to watch. Love the interactions with the people and your sincere appreciation of the nicer places here. I think (with respect to your previous thumbnail) that this is also "the real Philippines". Both are realities here - the poorer areas and the richer ones. And thanks again for your generosity to the lady at the end of the video. :)
