I bought these and they won't connect to my sl9y sound bar, constant blinking green light. LG support weren't interested in helping.
You can try resetting the sl9y. Switch off any wireless router, keep the spk8s and sl9y in line of sight.

Got this last month (february 2021 revision) the volume is kinda disappointing with the original 24awg cable. Changed to 16awg cable and it sounds better and louder 👍

I bought this and tried with my SP8A 3.1.2 sound bar. It is not at all pairing.. I get only continuous green blinking light. I checked throught LG site and it says the soundbar is compatible to additional 140W speakers. Am I do anything extra to make this work?
I couldn't find a reference that they are supported. Try resetting both.

You can increase the rear channel sound using app/remote controller. Press the settings button on the remote controller multiple times and increase using vol up.

I do not have that setup. I think the side surround and rear surround will output same sound

The LG tv sound is really good.
You can not connect the rear speaker directly to tv. You need a compatible LG sound bar listed. If you watch netflix, prime etc and if you dont want to spend too much,I would recommend you to get SL7Y which is not that expensive . And pair this with SPK8S

Another option is to get wisa speakers, these are supported by lg cx. But normally are really expensive.

This is I am not sure. No need to use the wire came with the box. To avoid any splice in-between, you can use other wire too. I think it won't make a big difference

This is the video of spk8 s surround speaker which is compatible with a range of lg sound bars. In this video the sound bar used is SL7Y and most of the LG sound bars can be controlled using magic remote.

Just paired this with my GX and sound levels were a bit disappointing. Ended up getting a 2 channel 160W (x2) amp that pushes 160w to each channel. I then connected a 2 channel switch to split the signal so now I have 4 rear speakers, 2 L and 2 R running on 80W each speaker. Insane sound now

@@davyhoogy I bought the wireless rear speakers and ran the cables from the wireless receiver to a 2 ch amp I got from Amazon. Then, I ran the wires from the amp to a splitter that split each channel into 2 so I have 2 sets of left rear wires and 2 sets of right rear wires. Then, I hooked them up to the speakers that came with the wireless receiver and a pair of speakers that I had from an older system. Basically made it so I have 2 left rear speakers and 2 right rear speakers which made them a little louder.

Hi, what about SP9YT Soundbar? Is it compatible with SPK8-s? I know for a fact that it is not compatible with the SPQ8 rear speakers.
Thanks for the video man, very helpful. Maybe this is a weird question, but do you leave the rear speakers always on? I mean, when I just watch TV, or my son plays on the Xbox, I rather don't want to hear rear speakers. So can I just turn the rear speakers on when I watch a movie/serie? Glad you liked the video. There are some options for you. In my case I have it paired with LG SL7Y soundbar.
1. You can toggle on/ off the rear speakers if you press and hold the settings button on sound bar remote control.
I personally leave it off all the time. This means that surround speaker will produce sound only when 5.1 content is playing. And in my sound bar there is a sound mode called bass blast plus. In this sound mode, the rear channel will produce sound (stereo) even when the "rear surround off" setting.
If the rear speaker is in " Rear surround On" what you get is a stereo effect, and sound will come from all the speakers.
So when I watch movie/playstation, I use the standard sound mode to get true surround sound and when watch TV, I just use the bass blast mode to activate all the speakers to get a room fill.
2. If you want to turn off the rear speaker to save electricity, you can consider adding a smart switch.
@@GTCREATIONZZ What very kind of you to answer so soon and helpful. I have a dsn8yg and turn the surround off in settings but I still hear some noise from the rear speakers. It's like you hear the sea. Not loud, but disturbing. Did I connect something wrong, or is this normal? I asked LG customer support, but they are not so good here in Holland. I prefer to ask a pro like you ;)
I dont hear any noise from the rear speakers, it should be completely silent. you may check the wire connection from the wireless receiver to the speaker, or it might be a faulty unit.

My newly purchased SPK8-S is not working with my LG SN8YG Soundbar even if I set it to Auto or Passtrough and max the volume of the Rear. My TV is LG 65 UN7300.
Actually the SN8YG is communicating with SPK8S not the TV. Are you able to establish connection with SPK8S. Once the connection is established, the led on the surround receiver will stop blinking and keep on. With rear surround turned off, you will not hear rear speakers, if there is no 5.1 content. You need to press and hold the setting button on sound bar remote controller to toggle on/off.
Nice I still have to buy it I am thinking even connect those to my normal big speakers as well to try how it sounds than I think you get even a bigger stage in the rear .
Try to check with LG India stores. I am not sure where to get. The ultimate option would be importing from other countries

Hi. Bit disappointed with them really. They work pretty good for rear sound effects on stuff like the Mandolorian. Can't really hear them when I use the Xbox(series one). Then again they are at the rear of quite a long narrow room. Think I will try to move them closer somehow and play a bit more with the settings.

So I’ve just bought this, I have the sl9yg Dolby atmos, are these ment to be behind you or pointed in like diagonally pointed towards where you sit???
Diagonally will be good. Place speaker 1 or 2 feet behind seating position if possible
@@GTCREATIONZZ Unfortunately my living room is not massive so I have my sofa up against the back wall but I’ve bought two stands so either side they can go behind me technically just not a lot so I’m best to point them diagonally as if you were to draw an imaginary line from each rear speaker it would point into the middle of my TV??
I have same kind of setup, sofa is up against the wall and speakers are on a stand with height slightly above (1ft) ear level. You may tilt around 45deg towards listening position.

My couch is at the wall ( no space behind it) so if i buy the lg spk8 i will have to put them on top of the couch corners (cant wall mount either). My question is , being so close to the head/ears , do you believe it would be annoying to have them so close? Thank you.
Hi thank you. I prefer the speaker to be close to you, ideally 2 ft away and pointed towards listening position. Trust me, there is huge difference in the experience if you got access to 5.1 content. Also make sure you are not more than 12 ft from main soundbar for the best experience. You can also adjust the rear channel volume, but I keep it at max.
@@GTCREATIONZZ Thank you for the reply. The sound bar is at 4 meters from the couch (lg sn7y) i believe is close enough. The problem is that there is not enough space at the back of the couch , the rear speakers will be less than 2 ft from my head. I don't know if being so close will be trouble.

Cannot connect to tv via Bluetooth with just these speakers. This is kind of giving 5.1 surround sound to LG spy & GX model 2.1 soundbars
It actually turns the 3.1 into a 5.1 I have the S80-QY with the additional speakers

I just recently purchased these speakers and the LG sn8yg sound bar and I am noticing the audio sounds more tinny and uses less bass when using the rear speakers. Did you or anyone else experience this or know why it might be happening and how to fix it. Adjusting the mixer doesn’t help much.
Try using bass blast mode. In this mode bass is better and rear channels gets activated.
@@GTCREATIONZZ I followed the instructions in your video as I should have all along and realized I was not testing it on 5.1 enabled videos and had the surround mode on. I turned it off as you said to and it works perfectly now. This took a whole day of messing around thank you for your video and help.

Depends on the source from which you are playing, is it actually having 6 channel audio? what it shows on OSD when you press the "i" button while you watch the title?

While watching, I prefer to keep the sound mode to "standard" or "ASC" volume more than 25 ( I like to keep it above 30). From where you are playing and does the source has 6 channel audio. Or may be for the title, there is not much surround mixing.

Yes the power connection is required, for my case also there is no power plug, I had to run extension wire from front to rear. But I was able to hide the wire nicely.

Hi I just got the SPK8 speakers. I tried them on my LG SN10YG connect on e-ARC to my LG C1. The volume coming out of the speakers is very low even by putting the volume of the rear speakers on +6 with the app. Please anyone has the same problem?
Is the speaker placed too far from the listening position? These speakers are supposed to place 2-3 ft away at ear level

Question..I have movie theater seats. So how should I mount my LG wireless rear speakers? Should I mount them on them wall or get two of the speaker stands?
If you have enough room, better mount on speaker stands so you have the flexibility to adjust and get the sweet spot.

Its all upto personal preference. Lg spk8s is having mounting threads on both bottom and rear side.

In my case, the wireless receiver unit is hidden behind the couch and it works perfectly fine. No need to have line of sight.

@@GTCREATIONZZ sure, i have sn9, which is compatible. However, i am not sure about this 7.1 thing for 2 reasons... 1. Based on a review of one of samsung's 5.1 bars plus additional 2 rear speakers they found out the back surround channels were not produced by the rear speakers, but only by the dedicated speakers in the bar 2. When i asked a week ago in an original LG shop (as at that time i just considered buying what i have today at home), they said the spk8 provides only additional effects, not the real surround channels.
Actually its the spk8s makes the big difference. It gives the true surround channel, the ones on your soundbar are virtual surrounds.
Not sure if the spk8s will be considered as side surround or rear surround in your case.
Mine dosent connect to wifi with the app why is that how do I connect speakers to the app????
Hi Dylan. Few things you can try.
Press and hold wifi button on soundbar to reset the sound bar. Re out router.
Once done, connect phone to 2.4ghz. Change sound bar to WiFi mode and try connecting.

Actually it doesn't matter which tv u are using, you are connecting soundbar to home WiFi using lg app in your phone

I just got these. No problem in sitting it up. But when i try too listen too audio with 5.1 I only get stereo sound from the rear speakers. How is that?

RUclips does not support 5.1 audio.
You need to change the audio settings on your TV to "pass through" then netflix will show 5.1 audio

This is the only option, if you want complete rear wireless you may consider jbl bar 9.1
