Glad to help!
Channa this is best quality 4k video I've seen so far. Unreal. Great video and great information..!!!
Simply amazing find across the whole RUclips to find such channel providing you with entertaining, nice-to-listen-to walkthroughs and guides and new ideas on A/V topic. BTW - fantastic idea on receiver upgrades versus eARC use in correlation with faster progressing TV’s at the end of this episode; True dat 😅, amen💪🏻, and also thank you for all your efforts to keep this channel going, you and your content is genuinely truly madly deeply phenomenal! Keep going, Mark
This was great. Had exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Another Great tutorial Channa man! My wife compares my waiting for the HiFi summit, to a four year old waiting for Christmas morning! Have a great day man!
That is awesome!
Sounds like you are an audioholic - we all have that issue - Christmas morning syndrome.
A massive thank you to Techno Dad for this video. You have solved a great headache for me and surely many others! Thank you sir.
You are most welcome!
I want to take this chance to thank you a lot for this quality informational video. I started on the journey from Home-theatre 101 on Reddit and after long hours of research to setup Dolby atmos for my cave, this is the video which tells about the latest tech at our disposal. This ends my research, now I can plan accordingly and save money. Thanks again.👏🤞🙏🏻
You’re very welcome, Raj!
Another great video! Keep up with the great content.
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for another great video I'm getting my LG CX soon 👍 👍 this will help when I get it
Nice KEN!! Make sure to get it from Value Electronics and tell them I sent you - bit.ly/2xgRwM2
@@princessazula346 they are working on update
Great video brother the info is always on point .
Thank you for watching Michael!
Thanks soooo much. I dug through and got Earc working prefectly. I needed this information! My setup was PC RTX 3080 - LG C1 - Yamaha- eARC. I needed eARC enabeled, passthrough, and hdmi set to bitstream!
Hey ! I have a c1 to,but i cant do earc or atmos...can you help me ?
Great tip of using the TV as the hub via eARC to avoid upgrading the AV Processor with each technology change. Likewise I’ve done something similar but in my case upgrade is now needed - good to know that I can focus on eARC support as a main criteria.
Yup! It's kind of a game changer as we can keep our AVRs just a "little bit" longer when tech changes. Like, I can upgrade my TV and not be 'required' to upgrade my AVR.
Excellent video. I just got a new 2020 oled and a new Marantz receiver and this answered literally all of my questions. Thanks!
Glad it helped, Chris!
Thanks mate, have been struggling with this all day, got new lg cx 65 trying to connect to samsung q70 soundbar.... was connecting virgin v6 box to soundbar and hdmi back to arc on tv...hdmi slot 2, Nightmare, as you sugested, i have now put hdmi from virgin and ps4 directly into hdmi 1 and 3 in tv, and only 1 hdmi from soundbar to hdmi 2(arc slot on tv). Made sure arc on soundbar and tv with passthrough selected and its sorted, thanks
Man o man! You saved me some time worrying about connecting everything to the AV receiver especially when i am going to use my surround mostly when watching movies. "Making it like a soundbar!" Perfect, brother. Thank you for this amazing video.
Glad I could help!
I just got my 2019 OLED and a new Denon AVR, and ran into this same issue. I haven't confirmed all sound settings/encodings work yet, but I finally realized I needed to change the settings on both the TV and DVR. Your video is awesome to see, great confirmation, and a good reference in case I don't quite have it working - thanks!
You're very welcome!
Did you get it working correctly ?
Ah man, thanks so much for this video! I've been putting off buying a 4K TV for years because it just seemed wrong that it meant replacing my 10+ years-old but perfectly fine Denon AVR-3808ci receiver. I consulted the "experts" from Best Buy, PC Richards, and a local Home AV to give advice on exactly this subject, and they just said I'd have to buy a new AVR from them. When I told them I wanted them to first try hooking up all my devices to the TV and then send the audio to the AVR, the look they gave me said it all. So I never hired any of them, and decided I'd just have trudge through it on my own.
Just yesterday I finally ordered an 2019 LG C9 from Amazon (I decided against the newer 2020 CX model because of the DTS downgrade, and also because they couldn't guarantee delivery for at least 3 weeks, ha) So when it arrives, I'll be following your advice step-by-step! 👣
Hi dowmck! I had that same AVR!! I sold it in 2016. I am pretty sure it doesn’t support ARC. You should be able to pipe the audio from the TV via Optical to the AVR.
Look at my comment above.. just go and get yourself an LG oled c9 and an LG SN11RG soundbar.. at least game demo both before you make any purchasing decisions.👍..lol u did already... Now just a ditch all the cables and receiver for the sn11 😂
When the video started, I felt like you are about to jump out of my laptop into my lap ... Nice video with some important information.
Awesome! Solved my problem with my OLED C9 and Marantz 7706. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I am glad that I subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for watching Septimus!
This is an awesome video! I was fearing I would need to upgrade my AV receiver but now I realise I don't need to! Cheers Techno dad!
Yup! That’s the beauty of eARC.

@@TechnoDad, So I Guess I Should Connect All My HDMI Connections to the The CX LG Oled , And Just EArc or So to the Denon AVR-X6400H, For Just Sound????
Very helpful. I couldn't figure out how to enable earc on my new sound system and this helped tremendously
Good video explaining it to us about the cables and what they do
Great video! Thanks. Will be trying this with a new Samsung 4K TV and Denon 2700. No doubt your information will help
Thanks for your explanation, I'm going soon to connect my LG C9 with a Denon S660H

Glad you liked the video Chaz!
good stuff I have the 8K 48gb zeskit good point if I don't want input lag go Straight to the TV if your TV have 4 HDMI 2.1 then to the receiver from the earc that's how I have mine set up good teaching techno
Nice Mac!
Found this out yesterday as well. In addition, setting to passthrough reduces the delay which causes sound to be delayed from the video on screen. Found this out testing call of duty on PS5
Great video and it is making me think about my set up I am about to install, LG C9 and denon avr-x3600h. I was considering the eARC option. As the denon does not support HDMI 2.1, connecting a PS5 to the denon I guess does not make sense. Based on this video I could connect it to the LG (as it has HDMI 2.1) and use the eARC back to the denon. Does it matter that the Denon is not HDMI 2.1? Do I loose anything with this set-up? I would still have most other sources connected directly to the amp i.e. Sat...
The Amazon Basics HDMI cables are High Speed with Ethernet too. I’ve had good luck with these cables and they are a very good value 👍🏻
Good tip!
Yes I have a few of those and they are good and cheap
@@TechnoDad Belkin Ultra HD High Speed HDMI Cable 2.1, support eARC/ARC? My tv sony x950g
There is a company called Perfect Path cables and they offer locking hdmi cable. If you have cats as I do they come in real handy:)
any hdmi cable that is bundle on your tv, monitor, gaming console is fast enough
Thanks Techie, thats cleared up a lot
When using the Zeskit cable the LG CX wouldn't recognize my JBL 9.1 soundbar. Luckily, i switched to a Basesailor hdmi cable and the soundbar was immediately recognized and everything is working fine now. Thanks so much for the video!
I wholeheartedly agree with you closing sentiments. I have been one of those people have been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for this feature to move forward in the last couple of years. My setup is in the family room and use surround exclusively for family movie nights. For this reason i have had all my sources plugged into tv for the better part of 5 or 6 years. Essentially using my receiver as a sound bar. Great video!!! Liked and susbcribed!!
Thanks parnilm! Welcome to the channel!!
This is a great video! Thank you for sharing this information; now I can setup my Denon and C9 correctly. eARC seems like such a great solution and honestly I prefer this method over running the TV switching through the AVR. eARC allows me to do just that and get the best audio experience available today.
Is it better to connect media player and gaming directly to the tv or to the DENON aVR?
@@n25992 for the new consoles that take advantage of hdmi 2.1, it seems better to direct connect to the tv (at least right now). Another advantage I like is that you don’t have to do anything to the receiver when you change tv inputs. Yeah you can do the same through the receiver but it makes it easier for the whole family to use the TV control vs fiddling with the receiver.
@@Tulipo08 how about for Apple TV for example. In order to get best Audio and video quality ?
@@n25992 Apple TV doesn’t take advantage of HDMI 2.1 so now worries connecting to a receiver then TV - you can have dolby atmos this way of course. Even if you direct connect to the TV and then EARC to the receiver you can pass through dolby atmos from the Apple TV sources. From a video quality perspective neither should offer an advantage over the other. Really you have both options and can play around to see which one works better for your use.
@@Tulipo08 well appreciated , thanks a lot for your time. That answers everything to me . Cheers
Just bought the Sonos Arc and you saved me a ton of time and trouble with pairing it to my 2019 B9. Clutch dude, clutch
Sweet Anthony! I'm glad you found my video!
@Anthony Sadler
I have the same combination running 2019 B9 with Sonos Arc. But I am freaking out as I do not get Dolby Atmos from any source. Not from internal Apps such as Netflix, not from Apple TV 4K.
How did you fix this???
@MalteW it didn’t work for for me until I followed the sound prompts either. When you change the settings to pass through and eArc, it should work. Be sure to also make sure that you have high speed cables running between the tv and the bar as well. I’m running Audioquest Cinnamon for my connection and it works like a charm. The cable is even an older one (5 years) and it shows Atmos with no issues. Stream a newer movie like Endgame or Black Panther and you should see it every time
I just bought an LG CX and am planning to pair it with a JBL 9.1 sound bar. I have also been running a Roku. The question is how should I connect all three to ensure I get Dolby Atmos? I wasn’t sure how the Roku fit into the mix. Thanks!
Thank you, this finally fixed my LG C9 to Sonos Arc challenge
Nice!
This is a perfect video.
I have been trying to hook up my Klipsch Cinema 400 soundbar for the last two days and have been Googling non-stop. Finally, thanks to you I now have HDMI-ARC working on my TV! I can't thank you enough!
Hi! Awesome! I’m so glad you found my video. Enjoy!
This video is very prescient to what I'm dealing with and I'm glad I found it. I hooked up my externals (4K Fire Stick, PS3, Tivo Premium X) to my LG C1 and run all audio through my older Pioneer VSX-33 receiver. But I'm still confused: I take it the oled tv can send eARC; can my older receiver receive it? Or do I need a newer receiver? As far as I know, the receiver has DTS and THX at best. As an aside, I now find the oled struggling and jittering with all the externals hooked up to it directly.
Outstanding explanation! Thank you!
You’re very welcome!
Very interesting video. Thank you !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice one. Just wondering, why you connect player to TV instead to AVR? I have all my devices connected to Denon AVR (player 4k, PS4 pro, android box 4K, IPTV 4k) and just one cable between TV and AVR via eARC. Thanks.
Excelente video explicativo ....aunque esperaré la Nakamichi con HDMI 2.1
Thank you! This helped me out with a weird issue where my audio would cut out every few minutes and the video would black out every so often. Rewired from player to TV then TV to receiver and changed appropriate settings and no more issues!
Nice!! It could also be the cables used...
Great Video Channa !
Thank you Bobby!
Thanks for this video. I just got a Denon X6700H to use with my Apple 4K TV and PS4 Pro, that are connected to my LG CX. I lucked out and got a PS5 pre order in. So that will be swapped in when it comes out. Currently I have those 2 sources going through the Denon. But it can be finicky at times with switching or recognizing one of the sources for some reason. So now I'm thinking maybe I should use the LG CX as the switcher instead to handle things better. It's nice to have choices.
#VeryInformative @TechnoDad Subscribed! ✔
For this setup to work, is it mandatory that the AVR/soundbar also have a EARC port? Or will this work with TV (EARC) and Sound System (ARC) combination as well?
Thanks techno Dad I really appreciate it
You are very welcome!
Excellent, very informative.
Thank you!!
Nice video editing 👌
Thanks!
Happy new year and big thx for your videos... I have questions regarding digital sound out on LG TV. You said that Auto is for ARC and pass through is for eARC. I've a budget LG tv (UN7300) with a standard HDMI ARC but I've have both options (auto/pass through)
1/ what's the point of having pass through option since my tv don't support eARC?
2/ what's the difference between both options (I mean what auto really do and what pass through do)?
3/ I have the JBL Bar 5.1 (with real surround speakers which support PCM/LPCM, AC3 and DTS) I know that my tv don't support DTS as all LG TVs of 2020 and ARC pass through don't support LPCM so the only option I've is Dolby digital and am wondering if auto is the right choice rather than using passthrough!?
PS: I can detect a difference between both options; when auto is selected surround speakers are a bit louder when pass through is selected the front speakers (from soundbar) are a bit louder and surround speakers are less louder.
Plz help auto or passthrough which is the most accurate in my case and what's the difference between both.
Man that's a VERY good point.... I was expecting ALL ports to be 8K, too!
Anyway, I have a Denon X4000 with a 4K HDMI splitter to my 4K TV, but now it's a good time for an upgrade.
Regards from Costa Rica!
Nice!
Awesome video
Thanks for quality information. Had a doubt though.
If my soundbar setup supports Dolby Atmos while my TV does not have Dolby Atmos in it. And I connect the soundbar to TV via HDMI eARC (supported on both of them). Will I be able to experience true atmos?
Thanks
Another great video, I think most people connect their devices to the AVR or pre/pro because they typically have more connections that the TV, also its much neater for your cables runs. I will just wait for when we get all HDMI connections with the 2.1 support.
Yes, and that’s how I have everything connected. When you decide to upgrade your TV, you are not required now to upgrade your AVR thanks to eARC. If your current AVR doesn’t support new features of HDMI 2.1, you can connect directly to the newer TV and use eARC to send uncompressed audio to the AVR. You can keep you AVR a little bit longer. Man, I should have made this more clear...
@@TechnoDad Oh no you made it very clear I understand what you were saying. I use to have everything connected to my tv then ran a HDMI cable to the receiver. But that was when I had just 2 devices, but now I have at least 6 connected devices, and most TVs just come with 2-4 HDMI connections. I see your point of if you dont have the current 2.1 for both consoles just connected those consoles to the newer tv and the rest on your AVR. I am just old school wanting all my devices connected to my Processor, That is why I will wait for a new AVM60 wth all its HDMI ports 2.2 hopefully. But like I said before most games won't be developed to run on those new consoles at 120hz at 4k just 60 if we're lucky lol
Sir, i have a question. I heard that they have problems with hdmi 2.1 on some av receivers. I recently bought the yamaha rxv6a. So if im buying a ps5. Is it better if i connect that to my LG CX and use my av receiver just for sounds? Will it work?
Hey TechnoDad man I’m excited about EARC, picking up an open box C9, God willing. But I’m wanting to upgrade my receiver! With Denons latest release, how far behind do you anticipate Marantz to be with their new flagship? I want my amp and receiver to match so I’m Marantz all the way
Great insights. I've connected my LG OLED to my NAD T757 AVR. Though the ARC works, I notice that the sound output is lower than, lets say, a regular RCA analog input. Is this normal? Have to crank up the volume to near -30 dB for decent sound levels. It's the same 'low' output level with optical as well. What could be the reason?
Thanks for this, I was having intermittent audio drops using LG TV eARC with Denon AVR. It resolved when I changed Digital Sound Out from Auto to Passthrough, great tip. You would think "auto" would actually be auto. I even spent money on a fancy Monster HDMI cable trying to resolve it before I saw this video.
Nice! Glad you got it sorted out.
We have an older Denon Receiver (AVR2113CI), and are using only for sound (everything is connected to the TV). If we set the TV to eARC (which we have) will it work if the receiver doesn't say eARC? We are using a high speed HDMI cable. Do we need to get a cable that has ethernet? I was a little confused there.
I have the LG E9 55inch. And just in general if you have any of the LG 9 Series OLED's I think its safer to just use the 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 cables. The AMAZON SecurO Max cables have always been good for me and their braided flexible cables.
You saved me from drinking today, keep up the good work.
Awesome!
Doing exactly this with my Denon 6500 and my new LG C3, since the 6500 will only pass through 4K @60hz for my Oppo 203 for video. 👍👍 Good video Thanks
You’re welcome!
I believe all hdmi 2.0 and 2.1 has ethernet
I got the lg sn11rg soundbar which supports earc now I just need to get the lg cx and ps5
In respect to Earc: Is this working for all hdmi ports of the LGC9? As only 1 port (hdmi2) is explicitly defined as having just normal arc? Let’s say you use the hdmi2 port as input to the receiver and a new console (ps5 or xbox series x) directly on another hdmi port to exclusively send the audio to the receiver. This will work without any issue?
I’m confused, I just bought the Sony x900h tv and am looking to upgrade my cables. Should I buy HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 2.1 ? 18 vs 40 or 48 and less than $ 40 per cable, can you help ? And what about 4K cables vs 8K cables ?
Hi Sir. Thanks for helping us out. I have an issue. I have the LG OLED CX 65' and having audio issue. I have my windows 10 PC hooked up (hdmi 2.1 to input #1) into the TV, and from TV (hdmi input #2) to my old DENON AVR-590 (input #1 dvd).
The video works great. windows property shows highest 4k resolution but my audio doesn't work. I followed your video instructions on my LG settings but still no audio. It only allows me to use my TV BUILT-IN speakers. Both of my hdmi cords are 2.1 48ghz as well.
I also setup the "device/device connection settings properly as well. Help? TY!!!!
Thanks (you got a new subscriber)! Your video unblocked me in my eArc setup! LG 75SM9070PUA, settings eArc like you described + connected the HDMI cable to HDMI 2 (not 1, I could have looked that up). On the other side, HDMI cable to output 1 on my Yamaha RX-V685, set on AV1 input (and make sure you have nothing connected to AV1 on the backpanel), and... It works! I'm just happy my 5.1 is now outputting the TV sounds (Amazon Video app on LG). This is great for LG apps. Now my opinion is I'd prefer still using the receiver as a switch for all my devices. My open cabinet is in the corner of the room with a 25ft HDMI (+3 audio cables) to the TV which is in the middle with 3 speakers. Plugging devices to the TV means you have a cabinet under it which is not the case for everyone.
Hello Fred! Thanks for subscribing! With any long HDMI runs, you are going to need a good HDMI cable. Since your setup is that way, you should just connect everything to the AVR if you can. Cut down on long wire runs...
Hi,
We just bought LG c2 and trying to setup my denon avr-s750h.
We enabled earc and pass through.
Now the thing is when we turn on tv and select tv mode, all sounds comes through sub woofer until i pick multi channel speakers on denon avr.
How can i use denon dolby.
Any help
Techno dad! Love your videos first off. Always learn a lot. Question for you. Assuming my cables are capable will my set up work....xbox series x connected to lgc9 hdmi 1. Cable from hdmi 2 on lgc9 to my denon 8k receiver. This should give me video from my xbox to my speakers. Big question is will the cable from my reciever to my tv capable of transmitting my video for my fire cube in another input in my receiver?
Hello friends, could you tell me if I can add the crown XLS 1002 amplifier as an external amplifier to have the 11.2 channels in the yamaha RX-A3080 and thus mount a configuration 7.2.4
Yes you can
Hi i have bought sony s20r but hotstar and Amazon sound is very low. I have connected hdmi arc cable from my TV mi 5x 55 .
Hey brother, I just purchased a Nakamichi shockwave 7.1.4 soundbar and I have my Digital sound out setting on my LG 2019 as auto. Would you recommend that I chance it to pass through ?
Hi Channa, just watched the vid and I'm trying it on my XBR-65X900F and my Sony STR-DN1080. I have the right cable but it is still not working, do you have any suggestions..Thanks
I got and lg c9 and the Nakamichi 7.2.4. The nakamichi support ARC if I do what the video says. Connect my PS4 , apple tv 4k directly to the tv it’s going to work and play uncompress audio??
i'm trying to wrap my head around all this. looking to upgrade my 12 year old plasma tv and my super old denon 2808ci. i want to get the lg C9 which has earc. i want a receiver that can play 4k at 120 hertz so which avr should i get?
Nice video, sorry I think I miss something. What is the source of your test? Do you test it with the usb port of the lg oled ? Im looking a tv that has eARC but also make passthrough to my receiver hdmi 2.1 only with usb. I dont want to buy an nvidia shield for do that.. Thanks for the video.
I just got a new Samsung 65” 9000 series and I’m gonna get the Sony str-dn 1080 I’ve got a blue ray player ,the cable box and a roku and not sure if I should hook these to the tv or the receiver. What would you recommend?
My denon 4400h fits all my needs right now in a few years I will upgrade when hdmi 2.1 is well adopted along with more TVs.
That’s probably what I will be doing. I’m fine with my Nakamichi sound system for the time being. But as soon as there are cheaper sound systems that support hdmi 2.1, then I will buy. I currently have the LG CX and am not using it to its fullest potential because my sound system doesn’t have eARC.
blackopsfan00 luckily my 4400h got an earl update. If even it didn’t I’m still fine with the sound. As for hdmi 2.1 I want to wait for a few years for the tech to mature. No use upgrading my Z9f for hdmi 2.1 yet as much as 4K 120 sounds so delicious right now LOL.
the lg 2020 tv only has the Earc text over 1 hdmi 2.1 port so how does that work if u want to passthrough lossless audio from i.e ps5 to my avr?
Since im thinking of connecting the ps5 to the tv and then the earc port goes to the avr but wont it then be lossy audio since the ps5 is in a non Earc port? How does that work? Can the tv receive lossless audio from a non earc port as long as its 2.1 hdmi and then send the audio to the earc port which then goes to the avr?
same question if i have a nvidia shield pro, can i connect it to the tv or must it be connected to the avr to get lossless audio?
Hello TD!
I want to connect my NES console via RF cable on my Oled LG C1.
But when I connect the cable I can't find the A/V channel.
Any suggestion?
Thanks
For the DTS issue with the LG CX couldn’t one connect their DTSX capable br player to their DTSX capable AV receiver to get DTSX sound? Why would one need eARC to do the decoding. Same thing with streaming. If your br player has built in apps and movie is streaming with DTSX sound just use the br player app rather than the app on the TV.
I recently bought a Denon AVR-X4700H to replace my 20-year-old Sony that didn't have any HDMI inputs. My TV is a 2015 LG 49" 4k model with 2 HDMI inputs, one being ARC. Would it be worth upgrading my TV to something newer that has eARC or would the Denon receiver compensate for the TV's lack? PS thanks to your video I changed my TV audio output to ARC - I didn't know I had to change it.
Man you dont know how much you helped. I thought my lg b9 doenst support earc as the back sticker only says arc on it. I bounght a new jbl soundbar 1300 and wasnt playing in dolby atmos. Now that i have enabled it, its rock solid 🎉🎉. Thank you so much again. Iwas considering to get a new tv if i have not seen your video today.
Ayyyy!! I'm glad you found my video. This stuff is a bit confusing sometimes.
Great video techno Dad! Question: I have my Oppo connected directly to my tv; and my tv EARC port connected to my AVR receiver that only have ARC, do you still get lossless audio? Even going from EARC TO ARC?
That zeskit hdmi cable. Even though it wasn’t labeled on box but it was on website, did it actually support Ethernet? I bought two of them and want to know if I need to return
Hi just have this problem with new LG 86 un 8080 conection to YSP 2500 sound projector...no sound at all.
so the YSP ARC doesn't have to support eARC just ARC ,the hdmi cable is probably without ethernet ? ( It was all fine with the conection to the previous Samsung screen ,was ARC to ARC )
What is the best way to reset my flat screen TV to match with my Denon to get the picture of the Denon display on to the flat screen thanks.
I have a LG OLED C2 EVO and ive done that with eARC so the sound comes out of speakers only do i have to go into AVR X2800h DAB. MAIN and set up Dolby Digital plus. So i can hear it though my AVR. The Dolby Digital i dont have to go into it my TV to get it. Is that correct. Because at moment just have stereo and MCH Stereo showing on the AVR.
Thanks very much..
Techno Dad, I am currently facing some issues with my Denon AVR X3500H with ARC. Whenever I switch to TV audio it works fine. But then when I switch to HDMI, i directly goes to cabl/sat and it takes a couple of presses to switch the audio and video to say for eg bluray. Any reason why that happens? Is there a way it can go directly to bluray rather than default to cabl/sat
What if I don’t have anything but the LG tv and the Receiver? I’m just using the apps(Netflix,Disney, appletv) on the tv. My issue has been if I hit info on my receiver I only see DD+, UNKNOWN and unknown again but it lower case letters. I know my receiver has Dolby Atmos and Vision. Also I only have 5.1 setup. Do I actually need to use extra speakers in the height audio ports on the back of the receiver for it to show up or can i still get Dolby atmos using 5.1 setup?
Great info, thank you...can you tell me if all you said applies to a setup using an older Samsung with. ARC and a newer AV receiver with eARC ?
Yes, absolutely. All the settings should be the same, you just won't get the lossless audio.
I also cannot figure out which settings to change on the denon...imput wise...can you elaborate
Thanks for the great video!!
I have a question about how to set up my system, maybe you can give me your insights and opinion.
My equipment:
DENON AVRX3700H
SONY XR65A80J OLED 4K HDR TV
Panasonic DP-UB820-K Streaming 4K Blu Ray Player
TiVo Edge for Antenna (converts over the air signals to HDMI output)
Here is the big question. How do I route the audio and video data? Do I connect the blu ray player and the TiVo directly to the Denon, where the Denon connects to the Sony TV? OR....
Do I connect the blu ray player and the TiVo directly to the Sony TV and use the eArc capabilities of the Sony TV and the Denon AVR???
OR.....
Does it make NO difference?
In the past, I have always plugged everything directly into the AVR, and used the HDMI switching to swap between components. Would that change as well, if I plugged everything directly into the Sony A80J?
Inquiring minds want to know, and thanks for your help!!!!
P.S. I am JUST making the leap to 4K for the very first time. I just got the Denon this week, the Panasonic Blu Ray 4K arrives today, and the Sony A80J gets delivered on this Saturday, so I want to be sure I do everything right to enjoy the very best possible video and audio.
PPS. Do I even NEED eARC at all? IF I just route EVERYTHING through the Denon, and pass the 4K signal up to the Sony A80J, does eARC become irrelevant?
So my tv has ARC only and I have it going through x3700h denon so when I'm watching 4k blurays I'm getting uncompressed Atmos True HD and when I'm streaming Aka Nvidia Shield pro I'm getting Atmos DD+ ? So I need to upgrade my TV to 2.1 earc. Thanks
