Have to disagree about The King Of Comedy comment. Sure it does remind it, but weirdly I found Rupert to be likeable through out the film and it had a lighter tune. This is a dark psychologic thriller and I doubt Arthur will remaing sympathetic through out the film

if you notice as he goes more and more insane he gets calmer and calmer more confident till the end as he goes on the talk show hes truly a diffrent person then who he was before becoming joker

Yes, I've seen the film by now. I expected the actions of a Joker further into his career, not his first night out, but hey, that one kill caused a riot that likely killed dozens so points to the newbie.

I'm in love with this trailer and I'm already in love with this movie. The movie shows that Joker was trying to be a good man but society just kept pushing his buttons, to the point that he becomes the monster that Gotham now fears. Gotham is Dr. Frankenstein and Joker is the monster that they created. And based on how this looks, he's out to kill his creator, and who can blame him? Lol. I love this trailer and Phoenix as already nailed the character with perfection. Can't wait for this.
Yeah Gotham always creates the villains if you think about it. For example Killer Croc his origin is so tragic 🙁

The way Arthur’s illnesses are portrayed is incredible just in the trailer. It doesn’t do the cop out BS with “He’s like this because of SOCIETY.” He clearly is sick as a result of something inside him, but the way people treat him is extremely similar to how so many treat others who are mentally ill. It’s a brilliant way to not demonize illness, show it honestly and empathetically, and show how we as people need to approach them as people, NOT their sickness. It looks to be a great movie.

Can’t wait for Joker, IT chapter 2, The Good Liar, Scoob, TENET, WW1984, The Batman, Western Promises, DUNE, Doctor Sleep, Motherless Brooklyn, Birds of Prey, In the Heights, AKIRA, Sherlock Holmes 3, and Minecraft. Some people are saying how it's interesting that they're "humanizing" The Joker, making him relatable, but if you look into the character more he was *always* relatable in some way, and there were many times when you could sympathise with him.

I got a completely different impression from the trailer. That Joker is invited on the show because they dont realize he is the guy they made fun of previously. Disguised in make up, and you can see when he is the clown that his whole body language and way of talking are so much more confident. As if he is a totally different person.

I seriously hope that the film shows him gaining clown followers who not just copy him dressing as a clown but end up serving him as a crime boss, thus enabling him to get hold of the kind of resources and weapons to commit the kind of crimes we saw of him in the comics.
This movie looks quite amazing. Behind all the intense violence and the fact that he''s a well-known villain from the DCEU, I feel there's going to be a TON of concepts that are particularly part of reality, especially with recent events occurring. I remember my Psychopathology class had explained the General Adaptation Syndrome theory of stress by Hans Selye and the three stages: alarm, resistance, and exhaustion. This is the physiological response to stress, the coping mechanisms one knows in attempt to deal with the stress, and the failure to overcome the stress through coping leading to disorder. Further, there is also a known genetic component that explains how some can deal with stress a great deal more than others through their resilience to adversity. Some are more prone to obtaining disorder than others simply through their genetics, amongst other factors. THIS is what we're going to see, and it'll truly hit home on an emotional scale. This will further the discussion surrounding mental illness, its stigma, and will shed light on the journey some go through involving tragedy and trauma that leads to such a low point result.
