Did this a few days ago, it's easy on the side shown in the clip, on the other side the engine needs to be jacked out of the way meaning the rear engine mount needs to be loosen.
@@autodocuk I did it! It took me 1 hour for each one. And it took me quite a while to figure out I had to jack up the engine to get one of the bolts out of the right control arm.
I looked up this video to see how hard it would be... easiest co trip arm I’ve changed 👌🏼. I did a 2015 rav 4 last week on both side and I thought I was never going to get it done. Had to lower the whole subframe all around and still had to stand on top of a big as pry bar while I removed the bolt that was coming into contact with the motor 😬

Very professional video. Who originally made this video? I can now go out there and do this smoothly and with confidence. I already have it on my flat bottom jacking self locking jack stands. The wheels are off and it is waiting patiently for me. Got my PB Blaster to soak the bolt first. She gonna be tight, I need some lube. :)
Thank you for your comment! You're absolutely right, of course it is better to use the ball joint separator for this very job. Best Regards, Autodoc Team
Thank you for your comment! We replaced it because of the worn-out arm bushings, it was clearly noticeable when diagnosing the suspension. If only it was this easy! I tried to do this job on my Yaris and the horizontal front bolt was broken off inside the subframe!! Absolutely inaccessible. I have to try and find someone to do the work on it and possibly get a new K Frame installed :(

Ha ha... yeah... I know what you mean! I'm from Canada where we dump salt on our roads 6 months of the year. A similar video of me doing this job working on my echo would have to be an epic 6 part miniseries. Each bolt removed successfully would be the climax of the episode, celebrated with champagne and an evening soak in the hot tub.
Why jacking up the front suspension before tightening the two bolts on the control arm?? I did mine without the jacking up and now have loud click sound anytime i roll on uneven surfaces.
Hi great video, but now I have a problem the wheel alignment is out. Or to put it another way when driving in a straight line the steering wheel is offset. How do I correct this as all I've done is replace the suspension arm. Thanks
All you have to do is set the tow in again with the steering wheel in the center position. I do it with an old school method at home. Works perfect every time. If people only knew.
Passenger side requires loosening motor mounts and raising engine 1/2" to slide contol arm in place. Manual says remove windshield wipers and a bunch of other stuff off the firewall. Not necessary if you just raise the engine a little bit. Motor mounts are on top of the engine. The video does not show the slot in the rear mounting point of the control arm that must match up to the chassis for the part to slide into place. Very important.
WRONG WRONG WRONG. BALL JOINTWAS NEVER TORQUED, BUSHING BOLTS WERE NEVER TORQUED WITH CAR SITTING ON THE WHEELS. VERY BAD INFORMATION. There again what would you expect from a "TECH" wearing gloves. Become a MECHANIC -----kid!

@@MeMe-yy9fs You had to jack the engine up?... What year Yaris is it. mines an 08 plate and looks slightly different to this.
Ok. Now show the passenger side. :P

after this work, would wheel alignment be necessary ?
Nice video. Do you have one showing this job on the right side of a 2013 Suzuki Alto. Thank you.

My new arms from Detroit Axle do not have pins. It came with self locking nuts.
Does anyone know if this wishbone fits 2010 toyota ractis also? they look very similar online.
Very helpful video . No alignment needed after control arm change ??
Yes, after any work related to the suspension of the car, it is recommended to correct the alignment camber.

@@autodocuk If I was only as good as the guy in the video. lol. Took me a lot longer to get it done.
Is the control arm the same on a 07 sedan ?
wonder if someone will still answer this
You will very likely need a ball joint separator for this job, FYI.

You can just hit the control arm with a hammer and it’ll shake loose 👌🏼

Savage Basement did you get it fixed?
@@jeffscomp sorry for late reply. Yes I got it fixed. I had to take it in and someone had to cut open the frame and weld a new nut inside. Costly.

Tightening the bolts of the chassis of the car is required in its test position.

Its easy on hatchback , try that on a sedan and we talk after that , its not working like that trust me

anyone else notice that the driver side wheel is on the wrong side of the vehicle? look at the tread pattern.
Thank you for the feedback! This video is considered to be an informative one, and it is approximate. Best regards, Autodoc.
thanks alot
What was wrong with the old part?
One of the main reasons for the replacement is the failure of the ball and silent blocks, and the deformation of the lever itself.
Good job but the tire is backwards
That will be $500. Have a nice day! Haha jk Nice video.
Thank you for sharing your opinion!
passenger side was way worst. thought i could do it off the video but i was wrong

@@tercelfan Same thing happened to me. I just jacked up the engine without having to loosen anything.
Ok. Now show the passenger side.
Replacing the lever on the right side is the same as the left side is a mirror image.
