There's Porsche, Saab, Volvo, Citroen, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Fiat to name a few that have quirkiness, engineering, racing pedigree, innovation, all of it.
Lancia comes on top of them all.
There was a time when they were the cars for whom wanted understated yet elegant and dead gorgeous, luxurious and beautifully engineered cars. Also they weren't afraid of trying, questioning the norm and make things their own way.
They have built the best rally cars ever, they race rally and many other track disciplines including endurance racing simultaneously, something not many or any other manufacturers can say, all through the amazing yet small (compared to others) Abarth team.
Coolest brand on the Planet, by far.
May well Maturo Competition keep bringing these beauties to the road and their owners enjoy them fully.
Thank you Johnny, another cracking episode with my favorite rally car of all time.

Lancia did the Beta coupe with a 1300 twin cam and the Delta had a single cam 1300. It was an underbored 1600 and you could rev the hell out of that engine. It would sit right past the red line as long as you liked once it was warmed up. I had all versions of the beta engine and I found the little 1300 was the most fun. It was only 82bhp officially but it felt like much much more. They didn’t weigh all that much either about 900 kilos from memory. Definitely under the tonne

Fantastic iconic car, after the Stratos the most beautiful rally car ever. Anyone else feel they have junior F40 vibes?

I'm always amazed at how iconic the Martini colours are to those of us at a certain age. It's essentially posh Buckfast. 😁
