As you guys probably know also finding the Equal Time Point, is readily accomplished on the disc side or face of Dead Reckoning computers E6B or MB-4A. The only math required is the addition of Ground Speed Continue (GSc) and Ground Speed Return (GSr) after that it's all done with the above handheld computers no further math required. As to doing a 180 reciprocal to return to airport in small plane VFR, you double the WCA, change the sign plus to minus or minus to plus. Example: Your intended track is Zero-Nine-Zero True, wind from North 360 deg.(no head or tailwind component) against port side of aircraft. WCA is minus 10 deg. Left for Hdg of Zero Eight Zero . I must return to aprt. If I do a 180 from 080 that's 260 deg or south of West. Now the North wind is against my right or starboard side. My desired track is 270 deg. I have to crab into the wind 10 deg. from 270 plus 10 =280 deg. Hdg. My original Hdg. of Zero-Eight-Zero WCA minus 10 deg. I now change the minus to a plus , double the WCA to + 20 deg. adding to the original reciprocal 080+180= 260 + 20= 280 deg. Hdg to crab into the North wind 10 deg. Where head or tailwind component is present with crosswind each leg of flight would have to be calculated as you so clearly indicated. This vid goes in my favorites WELL DONE !!!!.
