Ok so I just confirmed with the leader… he drew her at prelims and so he danced with her for the first time at prelims and then they progressed to finals together and danced together again as well. But that WAS there first time ever dancing together.
I know this was from a month ago, but the point with this type of competition is to randomly pair them up (sometimes they have danced together sometimes not) and then they play a random song the new “couple” has to dance to. The point is to be a lead/follow situation, when they are this level the man should be able to effectively lead and have the female follow the basic steps, they add a lot of flair to them since these are pretty much all professionals. You can’t see it all from this angle but even when they were moving “up the stage” he was leading with is hand on her upper back by her shoulder. Any of the gentlemen is this competition could effectively lead any lady on any dance floor, but it wouldn’t look as pretty since we don’t all know the basic steps.
