    How about doing a seniority with compatible fishes?

    Thanks for your advice! I was also wondering if a water heater was necessary because I heard beta fish need to have a tank of water about 75-80 degrees of heat

      I've always had good luck keeping them in a regular bowl without a heater and the water stays at room temperature. If you are worried about temperature regulation (ie your house often gets really hot or really cold) then add a heater for sure.

    What if my betta doesn't finish his pellets? how long do I leave them in the tank before offering him another feeding?

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  7 лет назад +1

      I feed my betta once per day, 3 pellets. He usually finishes them, but if he doesn't, I still offer 3 more the next day. If your fish is not eating all that you put in, I would try reducing the number of pellets by one each time you feed until he eats all that you offer. Each fish is different and usually they get into a routine.

    Hello I just got a beta fish and I was wondering how much I feed it a day?

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  8 лет назад +1

      Hi! Thanks for your question. I usually feed mine 3 beta fish pellets per day. If he doesn't eat them all by the next feeding, I fish them out and just give him one or two the next day. Usually he scarfs them down though :)

    Hey so I just got my beta fish today and I gave it food but it didn't eat it so what can I use instead

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  7 лет назад

      Sometimes it takes fish a few days to adjust to their new environment. Has your fish started eating yet? I would recommend trying a different brand of betta food pellets if yours doesn't like what you have been offering. Some fish are picky.

      Jaclyn Friedlander what is the temperature for the betta fish

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  7 лет назад

      Usually bettas like their water between 74 and 80 degrees, 78-80 is optimal and 73 is too cold.

      They like them but they don't need them. I have kept them successfully with and without plants.

    !!!NOOOOT TRUE!!!
    Betta fish need at least 3 gallons (THOSE BETTA BOWLS ARE THE WORST)a filter and a heater. Bettas can live up to 10 years in captivity when well cared for

    • @legitleyla3023
      @legitleyla3023 5 лет назад

      Wrong it's 2-3 years and they don't need filter that's why people but them filter is expensive buy a Betta fish it can breath without a filter or a heater do more research just saying

    Do all male betta ms fight cus i have two together and the dont attack each other btw they are both in the same tanks now for days please rply

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  7 лет назад

      Generally, yes, all male bettas will fight each other. If you have gotten lucky for two days without them fighting, my guess is either one of them is actually female, they will mate in a few days and then one will kill the other or you just happened to find two very rare Siamese fighting fish who don't feel like fighting.

    • @lemonpepperwings3479
      @lemonpepperwings3479 7 лет назад +1

      Jaclyn Friedlander the both of them are males cus i live in beijing and female fish here are very rare. And yes maybe i do but thank you for replying

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  7 лет назад

      No. They will either mate and then one will kill the other or they will fight and one will kill the other.

    • @funpetkeeping7229
      @funpetkeeping7229 7 лет назад

      Matthew Santos Yes but you need a 10gallons +(if your new to fish)

    Why does my betta not like my white led light? I have to run blue moonlight led all day.

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  6 лет назад

      That's a little surprising, although all fish have their own personalities. Most betta fish like to have a night and day cycle. What behavior does yours display, indicating he doesn't like the white light? Could it be the intensity of your particular light? Does it flicker at all? Sometimes I wish fish could talk so they could tell us what their issues are...

    • @barnhartmd051977
      @barnhartmd051977 6 лет назад

      Jaclyn Friedlander
      Well when the blue moonlight is on he is out and about all day swimming and playing in his 25 gallon tank. When we put the white light on he goes up and lays on the magnet in the corner of the aquarium, or he will swim around the top edges flaring non-stop. So now we do the blue moonlight all day and nothing at night.

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  6 лет назад

      That sounds like the right call for your fish. The blue light and then no light is probably providing his personal cycle. If he is happy and healthy, it could be as simple as personal preference and it sounds like you're doing the right thing :)

      10"/10"/10" is ok Mam? Please suggest a tank size...

    • @JaclynFriedlander
      @JaclynFriedlander  6 лет назад

      a tank that holds 5 gallons of water should be sufficient to keep your betta fish happy.

    • @udaydas6291

      But why you kept your bettas in bowl at past?

    • @JaclynFriedlander

      I keep mine in a 10 gallon tank. All of the images in the video are from a stock photo site, none of them are my own betta.
