While we’re on the topic of Yusei’s cards, share with us your stor(ies) of resolving Converging Wishes. I wish they’d retain the Clustering Wishes name instead.
Hey that’s what’s up I suggested this topic on the dark synchro video! I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not but either way thanks man! Always love your videos :)
The reason why Yusei has the best deck out of all the Protagonists is because his deck is, at heart, a Synchro Spam deck. A lot of protagonists have to jerk off the new summoning mechanic their series focuses on. Their decks are made to be versatile but not powerful and extremely bricky. How many random one-off Fusion Monsters did Jaden make once, in a filler episode of GX? Same with Yuma & Xyz? Yuya with random prefromer pal pack filler? The anime prioritises random specific effects which gets the protag out of a pinch and that's not very conducive for a good deck design. Fact of the matter is Synchros can be used to make a wide range of levels, whereas most Xyz deck focus entirely on one Rank/Level Number. Fusions also fall into this really specific niche. That being said the Yu-Boys from Arc-V had much better designs in their archetypes. Predaplants follows a modern Fusion design of being really generic, whereas Phantom Knights are good engine for Rank 3s.
yusei deck was garbage (i have try to run it in ygo pro and it bricks alot), he was also guilty of playing an EXTREMELY situational card each episode just so he could never played again, season 1 judai deck was the most consistent deck of all the protagonists. Besides the protagonists: hell kaiser, aki izayoi, crow, johan, z-one, insector haga, asuka tenjoin, serena, evil carly and rebecca were the most consistent decks.
No its not if you check his deck list and supports that he had its fairly balance but it won't top regionals or tournaments with the decks that are now in the game. Also Jaden's deck was trash in the first season then came neos and spacians then evil but only used for a few episodes then but now its how you play meta decks that's it best deck 5 negate board pass turn. You choose what deck you want to play work around the deck adapt and try testing it out but no meta here and there.
to answer the question about yuma: like three or four dude's main strategy was genuinely to play bujins, but he didn't have yamato or any bujin cards for that matter so he just did it with utopia instead. when he _did_ remember that he had other xyzs, zexal was generally good about letting them see at least another duel somewhere down the line the only real victims of "single duel filler" are, like, the numbers that he _actually bothered to make use of,_ but couldn't be bothered to remember after the fact. albeit, that's a weird case in this context since those numbers _were_ used by someone else before then, so ...
I absolutely came to adore those super weird and awkward anime moments in where it's like: "Ahh man, I can't wait to see what kind of super-scenario-specific and wacky card they came up with this time!" 🤣😂 I feel like they probably specifically wrote duels from the anime to intentionally showcase all the random jank from concurrent sets.
Back in full power orcust format, there were 3 ganes of a locals where effect veiler won me the rounds not by its hand trap effect, but because i was able to normal summon it and synchro off oviraptor and giant rex into trishula. BROKEN
With the winrate of course Yusei is. Though Yusaku didn't lose any duel if I remember but he lost a lot against a bot during his kidnapped days if you count that one. But in terms of OP cards god Atem takes the cake for that.
@@pauloazuela8488 Idk if the god cards are like Pokemon's legendaries, where you can say a protagonist is more powerful having acquired them. Iconic, sure, but with Shooting Star Dragon, you kind of need to build the deck around him a bit more and Junk Warrior is in competition with generic Level 5 Synchros.
I would like to maybe see jack atlas or some one from the GX era, since you did most of the duel monster characters, and are moving on to later series. I would say jaden next to round out the main protagonists but i can only think of Bubbleman, for some old decks and aqua dolphin which was used recently, unless neos would count cause of the occasional rainbow neos play, so i don't think a video on him would be long enough or interesting enough.
I'm glad Resonators got an equally good search card as Tuning, though without the mill.... speaking of which ya gotta do the Master Of Faster Jack Atlas now

Debris Dragon + tuning ware with double summon + quill bolt hedgehog from the graveyard = Stardust was my go-to comeback plays back when I was in school and we didn't have Op decks
the only reason starlight road isn't banned, especially with the new release of stardust dragon support, is because on it's print it left a teeny-tiny detail from it's anime counterpart: that special is treated as synchro summon. Think of it a lil bit.
Noticed ya skipped a protag, Judai/Jaden from Gx, but that makes sense he played pure elemental heroes (No masked heroes) and then Neos Spacians. However he did play some op cards, and would be cool to check out. Edit: anyone wants a list of op cards Jaden used, have to say Grand Mole, Necro Gardna, Dandylion, Rainbow Neos, Hidden Armory, and Aqua dolphin. I know it wasn't exactly super strong but i remember the day i got scrap iron scarecrow. When yugioh was a bit slower the amount of frustration it caused among my friends cause it was a negate one attack every turn. :) hehe
From GX I suggest Jaden and Zane. From 5D's I suggest Jack, Crow and Aki. For Zexal, I wouldn't focus on one character or other, but make an entire video about the anime Numbers, which ones were used competitively and which ones were not... maybe more than one video.

Here's a fun one: how bad was Lawton's deck from the 5D's Crash Town arc? I remember watching the sub and the comments were ablaze on how bad his deck is in order for him to have five spells/traps and one monster in his opening hand every time.
He probably tampered his duel disk to rig his deck shuffling. I know it was brought up in Zexal in the first tag duel when people were pulling similar shenanigans but it's not that much of a stretch for someone who's main strategy is an FTK to begin with.
@@mikzpwnz_3199 Don't think so. In DM, it showed off how Marik's ghouls were cheating, so I think if Lawton was cheating, it would be showing us how he was. As it stands, I'm sticking with Anime luck.
one of my biggest problems with yusei's deck was how good it was, and im not talking about the idea that it was broken but more of that he had good to great cards yet its said that he got all of his cards from the garbage. so monsters like junk synchron someone just threw away. then you got debris dragon, sonic chick (even though it wasnt mentioned it was still a good card in the anime because it can just stay alive for yusei) and quillbolt hedgehog which was just free summoning from the gy, these are not monsters you get from the trash. i would of preffered if they were normal monsters honestly, with a few effect monsters that helped make synchro plays like junk synchron, then his spells that are specific make more sense because, again, he got most of his beginning deck from the trash. so normal monsters then spells specific to normal monsters, with not really good effect monsters like speed warrior in the mix and then the ace and sub ace.
You have to remember 99% of the trash comes from Domino City. The richest place on earth. I'm sure plenty of snobs throw away good cards cause they are slightly damaged.

This is a strategy I try to use with Yusei in Duel Links. Set a card I'm not afraid to get rid of, special summon Junk Forward with its effect. Special summon Card Breaker by getting rid of the facedown card, summon Junk Synchron. Instant Stardust

I feel Miracle Synchro Fusion was also a card Yusei used that kept being quite useful for several metas, especially in Psychic oriented decks that could call out Ultimate Axon Kicker with fair ease, which was a solid monster that was immune to destruction effects, had piercing and you gained life equal to the ATK of the monster it destroyed in battle...
He didn't play that one. I was surprised too while building my yusei deck while using the wiki as reference (where miracle synchro fusion is not listed)
hey, did you know that synchrons are actually ok? crazy i know
It's the mechanic that got us to the modern times in Yu-Gi-Oh, it's also the one that requires some of the most work, it's not as free as Xyz, Pendulums, and Links, but not as restricted as fusion

Tfw Give and Take is currently Limited in Duel Links
Actually Yusaku has the better deck.
to answer the question about yuma: like three or four
dude's main strategy was genuinely to play bujins, but he didn't have yamato or any bujin cards for that matter so he just did it with utopia instead. when he _did_ remember that he had other xyzs, zexal was generally good about letting them see at least another duel somewhere down the line
the only real victims of "single duel filler" are, like, the numbers that he _actually bothered to make use of,_ but couldn't be bothered to remember after the fact. albeit, that's a weird case in this context since those numbers _were_ used by someone else before then, so ...
@@ashketchumoldman1993 Agreed
I absolutely came to adore those super weird and awkward anime moments in where it's like:
"Ahh man, I can't wait to see what kind of super-scenario-specific and wacky card they came up with this time!" 🤣😂
I feel like they probably specifically wrote duels from the anime to intentionally showcase all the random jank from concurrent sets.
well now that harpies is making a comeback we may see even more Starlight Road.
i thought my playback had a problem or it was a level eater meme i wasnt aware of lol
Back in full power orcust format, there were 3 ganes of a locals where effect veiler won me the rounds not by its hand trap effect, but because i was able to normal summon it and synchro off oviraptor and giant rex into trishula. BROKEN
Tell us who's most broken between the anime protags! Seems like Yusei takes 1st place for now.
Atem beat a pierced street punk, Kaiba (clap, clap), and Marik (who isn't a technically skilled duelist--he relies on Ra a lot). BUT, tbh I'm a nostalgia head. I like Atem and little Yugi most.

using them same cards on Duel Links, I remember how insane that Junk Synchron - Junk Converter combo was now
That's good but you should have mentioned Shooting Star Dragon and Junk Warrior. They are two of Yushei's most iconic monsters...
He's the first duelist to use a massive air qoutes modern handtrap if im correct

How Broken were Bruno/Visor/Antinomy's cards???
the only reason starlight road isn't banned, especially with the new release of stardust dragon support, is because on it's print it left a teeny-tiny detail from it's anime counterpart: that special is treated as synchro summon.
From GX I suggest Jaden and Zane. From 5D's I suggest Jack, Crow and Aki. For Zexal, I wouldn't focus on one character or other, but make an entire video about the anime Numbers, which ones were used competitively and which ones were not... maybe more than one video.
Give and Take got limited in Duel Links because people would give their opponent Ra's Disciple and lock them out of special summoning.

@@cameraredeye3115 Anime luck isn't just for the protagonists.
He probably tampered his duel disk to rig his deck shuffling. I know it was brought up in Zexal in the first tag duel when people were pulling similar shenanigans but it's not that much of a stretch for someone who's main strategy is an FTK to begin with.

one of my biggest problems with yusei's deck was how good it was, and im not talking about the idea that it was broken but more of that he had good to great cards yet its said that he got all of his cards from the garbage. so monsters like junk synchron someone just threw away. then you got debris dragon, sonic chick (even though it wasnt mentioned it was still a good card in the anime because it can just stay alive for yusei) and quillbolt hedgehog which was just free summoning from the gy, these are not monsters you get from the trash. i would of preffered if they were normal monsters honestly, with a few effect monsters that helped make synchro plays like junk synchron, then his spells that are specific make more sense because, again, he got most of his beginning deck from the trash. so normal monsters then spells specific to normal monsters, with not really good effect monsters like speed warrior in the mix and then the ace and sub ace.
You have to remember 99% of the trash comes from Domino City.
The richest place on earth.
I'm sure plenty of snobs throw away good cards cause they are slightly damaged.
@@WitheringAurora I'd rather those be the sub ace monsters. And this isn't to say it's wrong and my way is better, it's just how I feel. I would love to see him play a deck like he did at the prison, then collect better cards as he goes. But again that's just me.
