Honestly, this would've made a good (maybe) Friday 13th Movie. Camp Crystal Lake is shut down and a woman has turned it into an Orphanage and she's taken Jason in and he's bonded with her because she's kind to him like his Mum. Bunch a kids by the Lake and want her gone, bish, bash, bosh; Jason Rampage.
Props for Tony checking and letting people know that flag isn't the official CSA flag. I find it hilarious that they had so many different flags and redesigns over the course of the war. I really think the bars one is popular because of Dukes of Hazzard and stuff.
The movie was pointless, it had nothing to do with the original even though its supposed to be a direct sequel. Why not have it set in the 80s and have some college students move into the same house that the murders took place. And how does leatherface survive 2 shotgun blasts and a chainsaw uppercut to the face?? A far better ending would have been the younger sister sees her older sister get decapitated, then she wakes up as they drive off.
The writer of this film is my professors fiance in my screenwriting class and he came to class to talk about the scriptwriting process and how hard it is to make it as a hollywood screenwriter. He seems like a nice guy but oh my god, that “your canceled” line in the bus made me shiver.
I had a lot of laughs with this one. I loved that it was an hour long. The mask looked dumpy, but seeing Leatherface kill influencers was fun for me and I laughed throughout the movie.

It's not dumb fun though, Zombie Jason getting Frankensteined to life is dumb fun. This didn't lean hard enough into being dumb fun, it was just boring dumb with dumb characters and dumb moments. Even something like Freddy Vs Jason with terrible characters was full of dumb fun, this just wasn't.
I had a blast with this entry. I went into this as more of a black comedy horror like part 2 or 4. The gore effects, Leatherface, & cinematography were great. And why not real Stretch instead of fake Sally as the hero?

Interesting, the effects were one of the worst actually. Not all, but the last 3rd of the movie was one of the dumbest ever witnessed. And you can compare to part 4, but part 2 is an actual good movie. This leatherface was not scary at all.
I have something to say about the mask. I've seen it without hair in a behind the scenes image. He cut earholes into the mask like a COVID shield. That's how it's stuck to his face.

There’s something at the beginning on the TV that said that Leatherface was approximately 16-20 in the first one, so he’s not AS old, but he’s still almost a senior citizen .
I’m on the side of the discourse that thinks this is dumb fun. It’s decently shot with some good kills and enough “so bad it’s good” moments to keep me entertained. All the 2013 one had going for it was Daddario bouncing around lol. The culture war stuff in this was funny as a backdrop. It’s just there and doesn’t really pick a side on any of it, but it’s amusing as added context. Anyone calling this woke or anti gun wasn’t paying attention. That being said the only films I actually ever really want to come back to multiple times in this franchise are the original masterpiece, the insane over the top sequel, and the beautifully shot mean spirited gritty remake. Those 3 are all very different but execute the material well. The rest of the films are all over the place in terms of quality and execution.
There's a line before the mom dies when she tells leatherface don't go into my room and he goes into her room to get his chainsaw as she hid it behind her wall to make sure he wouldn't do anything bad, so she didn't want him to go on a rampage. She was a nice lady who didn't deserve what those asshole kids did.
That one older cop who gets shot through the neck is that Lt. Gorman guy from Aliens who does a shit job leading the team. He's basically the same guy here, but as a cowboy cop.
As someone who lives in Texas, it's true that people elect people in a state like California, knowing what that means for their taxes (as in, the taxes go sky high to the point where millions of people just leave the state), then they move to Texas for the lower taxes, and then vote for the same types of people who raised their taxes in California..... Brilliant move by these geniuses. We have a saying in Texas: "Don't California our Texas." Good video guys. The movie was okay, but wish they would have incorporated the original mask in some way (Maybe Leatherface put it in some "science class" liquid that preserves frogs or whatever, then pulls it out of the wall with his chainsaw and puts on the original mask.) The "woke" bus scene with the cell phones and "cancel" talk was so cringy it nearly destroyed what little momentum and quality the movie had.
OK, Tony keeps calling it an anti-gun movie. But based on their own description of the movie (I haven't watched it myself, this is base on their description) it's a anti-woke movie that lambasted "woke culture". The woke mob becomes responsible for the death of a woman because of their issue with the confederate flag. They all become prey to leatherface who has been made to be sympathetic. The school shooting victim only gains a chance at surviving when she imbracess the belief in arming one's self. The killer comes out as the hero almost. This seems more like a right-wing movie. Not saying you should feel one way or another about that, but how do you confuse that with being anti-gun??

I liked it a lot but it's not a very good movie. A guilty pleasure movie for sure. It's shot really well and the positives outweighed the negatives for me. But way too much social commentary that didn't add to the plot, imo. Plus this whole getting in one more jumpscare before the movie ends has taken its toll on me. It worked best in the original Friday the 13th and it's just not effective anymore.
This was literally the first movie I can say that I truly hated from the 1st second to the very last. It took me three times to even make it through it .
This film gave me new appreciation for 3D's "Do Your Thing Cuz!" and the prequels hot teen Leatherface. Yes, this movie was well shot and had some cool gore moments, but it wasn't nearly as scary as it could've been, nor as dumb fun as it should've been. If it had been more in the vein of Hoopers sequel or Next Generation or even TC3D, I'd probably have enjoyed it more. This is not a good movie, the only good thing I can say about this movie is it's still better than the PD remake and it's prequel.
There is an unused scene from texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 that had Leatherface taking out a bunch of drunks in a parking garage. Part same unused sequence would have also had Joe Bob Brigg's cameo. only other instance entire series Leatheface fights a crowd
So I always wondered why we call it a "chainsaw dance" when it's never resembled a dance. It really in both movies just looks like he's angrily swinging his saw around more than it looks like he's dancing.
In the 2nd film, his dancing around with the chainsaw, and thrusting it repeatedly into a tub of ice between the screaming protagonists bare legs is meant to look like exactly what it does. 😏
The cinematography is way better than it deserves to be for this movie. Kills were filmed great and for fans of leatherface who just wanted to see carnage this definitely delivers. The plot and actors hold it back from what could've been a great sequel but all in all i liked it for what it was. I think people are hanging too much on the wokeism of the movie not realising that in the end the movie is making fun of all that stuff and delivering what you want. Rooting for leatherface to kill crappy human being woke millennials that you're made to not like. All in all. It's way better than some of the sequels that have been put out there. I'd rank this as #5 in a top 5 of TCM movies
The movie was entertaining for what It is. Douchy main charcters I enjoy cause their all gonna die. Stoner nerd has the same feeling I had after watching this. It's got many problems and you can nit pick it all day, as head nerd did but it's probably the 3rd best film of the series. Watched the full review of you guys picking the worst of the 8 films and I really enjoyed It, surprised two of you didn't care for this new one. Anyway don't get jaded before watching a film listening to other people's take on it, It will only taint your movie watching experience.

I liked it. I will give it props for being the most gory of all the Chainsaw movies. I’ll also give it props for doing something a little different and not retreading everything from the original movie by, ya know, having a dinner scene recreated beat for beat like Chainsaw 2, Leatherface, and Next Generation.
I thought it was pretty cool that they brought the character of Sally back. It was something that has never been done before surprisingly considering the number of sequels they have. I didn't even mind that another actress had to play the role. I mean 50 years had gone by so as far as physical looks they could get away with it. What I didn't understand was what the fuck was the purpose of bringing her back if it was only just to kill her off. And they basically did it like as soon as she confronted Leatherface?!?!?!? Like come-on she was supposedly a Texas Ranger who was badass and prepping for a showdown with Leatherface. She trained for over 30 years for this and ends up dead?!?!?!? The people on the panel are right. You could omit the whole Sally story from this and it would have still been a complete movie. So I loved the idea but it was extremely poorly executed.

Out of all the other sequels/reboots... Its better than 3D, maybe Leatherface 2017 but i only saw this one on release date Next Generation only good part was Matthew McConaughey.
I enjoyed the gore but hated the plot, and the ending just annoyed me to death. This movie wants to be a direct sequel to a very raw movie. All the modern bullshit they shoved into this movie stuck out like a sore thumb. I’d say 5/10 being generous.
I really liked this movie. Yeah, it's its own thing, but it kind of has to be to have any sort of spark or life to it. It's wild to me how puritanical people get about their franchises. They really tried and it shows.
58:04 and It goes from the Standoff upstairs in the house to next scene Leatherface outside and then Sally Reconfronting him. I say it was a dumb bad edit how somehow that happened.
Not trying to justify the film (even tho I do like it) but I feel for the director coming in on only 2 weeks notice...kinda got dumped on his lap. Also the mask is held up on the face because of the hollow ear holes on the mask, so they can go over his ears. The sally character was poop town and we actually get a chainsaw massacre which is cool...i really like this film, but this episode was fantastic haha!

If it had been more in the vein of Hoopers sequel or Next Generation or even TC3D, I'd probably have enjoyed it more. This is not a good movie, the only good thing I can say about this movie is it's still better than the PD remake and it's prequel.

There is an unused scene from texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 that had Leatherface taking out a bunch of drunks in a parking garage. Part same unused sequence would have also had Joe Bob Brigg's cameo. only other instance entire series Leatheface fights a crowd

So I always wondered why we call it a "chainsaw dance" when it's never resembled a dance. It really in both movies just looks like he's angrily swinging his saw around more than it looks like he's dancing.
In the 2nd film, his dancing around with the chainsaw, and thrusting it repeatedly into a tub of ice between the screaming protagonists bare legs is meant to look like exactly what it does. 😏

The cinematography is way better than it deserves to be for this movie. Kills were filmed great and for fans of leatherface who just wanted to see carnage this definitely delivers. The plot and actors hold it back from what could've been a great sequel but all in all i liked it for what it was. I think people are hanging too much on the wokeism of the movie not realising that in the end the movie is making fun of all that stuff and delivering what you want. Rooting for leatherface to kill crappy human being woke millennials that you're made to not like. All in all. It's way better than some of the sequels that have been put out there. I'd rank this as #5 in a top 5 of TCM movies

The movie was entertaining for what It is. Douchy main charcters I enjoy cause their all gonna die. Stoner nerd has the same feeling I had after watching this. It's got many problems and you can nit pick it all day, as head nerd did but it's probably the 3rd best film of the series. Watched the full review of you guys picking the worst of the 8 films and I really enjoyed It, surprised two of you didn't care for this new one. Anyway don't get jaded before watching a film listening to other people's take on it, It will only taint your movie watching experience.

Just because you have brought up that people should still watch episodes for movies they havent seen/not interested in, this is one of those for me. Always tune in unless its a new movie that I am about to watch, and then I still add it to Watch Later list so that I dont forget to come back to it 👍

I liked it. I will give it props for being the most gory of all the Chainsaw movies. I’ll also give it props for doing something a little different and not retreading everything from the original movie by, ya know, having a dinner scene recreated beat for beat like Chainsaw 2, Leatherface, and Next Generation.

I thought it was pretty cool that they brought the character of Sally back. It was something that has never been done before surprisingly considering the number of sequels they have. I didn't even mind that another actress had to play the role. I mean 50 years had gone by so as far as physical looks they could get away with it. What I didn't understand was what the fuck was the purpose of bringing her back if it was only just to kill her off. And they basically did it like as soon as she confronted Leatherface?!?!?!? Like come-on she was supposedly a Texas Ranger who was badass and prepping for a showdown with Leatherface. She trained for over 30 years for this and ends up dead?!?!?!? The people on the panel are right. You could omit the whole Sally story from this and it would have still been a complete movie. So I loved the idea but it was extremely poorly executed.

I enjoyed the gore but hated the plot, and the ending just annoyed me to death. This movie wants to be a direct sequel to a very raw movie. All the modern bullshit they shoved into this movie stuck out like a sore thumb. I’d say 5/10 being generous.
I really liked this movie. Yeah, it's its own thing, but it kind of has to be to have any sort of spark or life to it. It's wild to me how puritanical people get about their franchises. They really tried and it shows.

Not trying to justify the film (even tho I do like it) but I feel for the director coming in on only 2 weeks notice...kinda got dumped on his lap. Also the mask is held up on the face because of the hollow ear holes on the mask, so they can go over his ears. The sally character was poop town and we actually get a chainsaw massacre which is cool...i really like this film, but this episode was fantastic haha!
