Compressed air will force water out of a tank. You had some in your tank which forces the water out. That’s why the gas valve is in the game. To stop the gases from coming in. You need to allow the gas to escape in both which causes the water to not come in as it’s pressurized. You could push compressed air into the top tank in your video and this would force the water out and into the bottom tank.
I really hope that this gets worked out because the gas system is a really awesome mechanic and i have ideas that i want to try. But maybe the solution to filling fuel or ballast tanks is to pump them down to 0 atmosphere to avoid the weird air lock thats happening, at least until its fixed. There should also be a co2 scrubber to remove the co2 from submarines or space ships
On the fluid tank I’m guessing that the problem was you weren’t putting air into the tank as you pumped water out into the “ballast” tank creating vacuum in the fluid tank so when you opened the valve on top the fluid tank sucked everything back in. On subs I’m thinking you’re gonna have to make a second tank (smaller so it’ll pressurize) to pump air into from the ballast tank as you fill it with water then when ready to drain the ballast you pump the pressurized air back into the ballast from the 2nd tank. I haven’t had time to try it yet but hopefully this will also allow you to drain the ballast in even deeper waters than before. Also by pumping air out of the ballast tanks and creating vacuum I wonder if you can fill the tanks even faster allowing for faster dive times?
I was hoping to see temperature rising with pressure. Ever since they announced the Gasses update I was learning how to build a freezer room, heat pump, or a HVAC system to chill my cockpit in the desert. I built a big pump, powered by a medium 6-cylinder boxer engine, and compressed nitrogen as my refrigerant, I managed to get ~300psi but the gas hasn't changed temperature at all. So I couldn't pull off a HVAC yet. Since radiating heat from high pressure refrigerant is the first step in a AC system
Also something interesting is that planes will need to have pressurization systems like real life planes. Because If it's just enclosed you will die from Co2 and if its open you will die from low pressure. Although I was testing the update out and It doesn't seem like they implemented the co2 poisoning yet.
Forced induction was already a thing with modular engines. I haven't looked at my EFI controller since the update but it actually shouldn't be affected because it's designed to work exactly like a real ecu.
@@marctardif9756 Would definitely be neat. Only thing is the electric pumps are still the most efficient and come close to the limit of the fuel manifold. Meaning the air manifold is 1 and the fuel manifold is around .98 when using an electric pump.
I do realize that it is an older video, but I saw over 100 ATM in your clip. The highest I can pressurize a compartment now (as September 2024) is 60 ATM. Was it a limit added by the dev or I am doing something wrong?
Hmm, that pressure chamber-we could do airguns in big scale, not? Anyway, I am trying to emulate diesel hydraulic loco behavior with bit help from air pressure. It is doable?
Given what we saw, wouldn’t it be time to implement something like custom boilers? You circulate boiler coolant (once it’s fixed) into a custom water tank, and steam is produced once it’s hot enough. And best of all, no 10 bar limit.
In regards to the first water tank with the single gas relief valve on top. As you are pumping the water from the bottom tank to the top tank you are pressurizing the top tank and creating a vacuum in the bottom tank. When you open the gas relief valve on the top tank, yes you are releasing that 100+ pressure from the top tank, but you are then allowing the bottom tank to pull a vacuum. Because the top valve is open air is being pulled IN to the top tank because the bottom tank is still under vacuum and its sucking the water back in thus causing the water to pull air into the top tank. Despite having a pump between the tanks it will only have so much torque to keep the water going in one direction. To fix this without a relief valve on the bottom tank you could put a one-way pipe facing the top tank. This in theory would stop the water being pulled back into the bottom tank, but I've not tested this. Hope this helps everyone understand this a bit better.
I know im a bit (ok a lot) behind with Stormworks, as Ive been busy on other projects, but these updates are amazing, the closer to reality they make the sim the more interest I get.
If you connect a system like this: water cannon-----fluid valve-------water tank, and you open the valve, the tanks will get pressurised at 380+ atmospheres in 3 seconds and the cannon will shoot the water out at a pretty fast rate
With that last tank with the water on top and air below, the reason the waters not fully dropping is because yes you've let air into the top chamber to allow the water to drop naturally with gravity without pulling a vacuum in the top tank, you haven't allowed the gas to escape the bottom tank, the weight of the water will compress the gas untill the pressure of the gas is stronger than the weight of the water. If you think about it logically, the water has flooded the pipe, the gas has no way out of the bottom tank due to the equilibrium of the waters weight Vs gas pressure. If you were to pump air into that bottom tank you would either push the water back into the top tank or the gas pressure would become greater than the water and it would then go up that single pipe and out the top relief valve. To transfer tank to tank the best way is to either have a gas relief valve on both tanks or in that scenario have a second pipe with a gas valve to allow the water to fall into tank and push the air up the gas pipe into the top tank. Hope this helps
Fr, best update yet, with all the backlash about the broken creations doesnt matter, I used to get like 45 frames driving around, after this update im getting 75+ the game actually seems more smooth. Issues with fuel tanks and stuff like that were expected because that how space and volume work, yk you ahve to put air into the fuel tank to push the fuel out otherwise you'd have a vaccum. for the buoyancy stuff its tough, but fine it makes more sense if you think about it, although jet engines do need to be fixed other than that, im surprised and happy, but to the people that are like ahh the game is so buggy, just give the devs a break. A its not their decision what they have to dev, usually its executives, and B stormworks is a really complex game, thats why no game comes close, scrap mechanic was its only runner up but that stopped getting updates because of how ridiculously complicated the game is. I assure you the bugs will be fixed, but fr just enjoy the game for what it is, multiplayer is fun af, yes its buggy but thats not the games fault thats usaully PC hardware fault with desyncing and such.
people were pissed because boats sunk for no reason and jet engines didn't work. and i would not say "give the developers a break" since they're charging money for this shit (the boat issue is sort of resolved now but some bigger boats still sink)
dude creations all across the workshop are broken. if they had developed a proper buoyancy system from the beginning, creators wouldn't have had to rely on the pivot glitch to make their creations work. The removal of the pivot glitch has ruined many creations without a proper way for creators to rectify it.
Normally we would put a check valve on the pump outlet to stop it flowing backwards when the pump stops because the tank would have hydrostatic head pressure due to the height difference. Not sure if this is simulated in-game?
The gas system is broken now. I experimented with standard tanks and saw the following: even if you completely pump everything out of the tank and feed the liquid there through the filter, it will still create pressure, and it is simply unrealistic to pump the liquid to the entire capacity of the tank with an electric pump. It seems as if the developers have created a gas that is invisible to sensors, which is present in any space and cannot be pumped, or liquids simply have the ability to compress in the game, and the volume of the tanks is smaller than in the properties. I hope it gets fixed because it causes a lot of problems.
I mean, real SCUBA air cylinders consist of 21% oxygen and 78% nitrogen, so you wouldnt pump pure oxygen into the cylinders, it would be nice to see that fixed.
4:35 this is a little frustrating, because scuba gear IRL uses Oxygen and Nitrogen, like real air. If you breath pure oxygen, you get oxygen poisoning.

At 14:50 the he asked the question he doesn’t understand why it’s going back into the water tank at the bottom instead of staying in the tank with a window at the top the negative air pressure is pulling the water back into the water tank. That’s empty window container
Ok, some questions: is it enough to just make a fluid port inside a room an one directly attached outside (at about sea level, let’s say in a ship) or do you need a pump to pump it in, also can you have just a oxygen tank, that refills the room with just oxygen or do you need to use all components of air?
Pretty sure if you put a pump between the fluid ports the side that gets pressurized will receive O2 so create a way to bleed the pressure and you will be good
I think not. Nitro is made from nitrous oxide (laughing gas). But if we're talking nitro like in nfs, the kind that recharges, that I can imagine with a pressurized airtank of sorts, more air more fuel moar power, in exchange for more heat. I haven't tried yet. But it's a cool concept.
I think I will like it eventually, but for now I'm kinda annoyed about all the creations that stopped working. Pretty much everything that uses fluids or closed rooms is somehow affected

So i guess the big question here is this: does this mean we can get the bends from scuba diving now if we dont do decompression stops?
Sort of, if you ascend too quickly then you start to take damage. But I don’t know if there is a actual system to simulate the bends
Also we would need a dive computer for deco stops cause otherwise you would have to use a table and I don’t think many care to
