finding this band at such a young age was a blessing and a curse for me, like all these years since then and i’ve yet to find another artist/band that scratches the same itch these guys did it’s crazy so unique
Hey dude loving the DGD reactions! Make sure when you do the next album(acceptance speech) to do the 2.0 version. It’s the remixed and mastered version of the album and sounds so much better. Keep it up dude!
Glad you are enjoying so far… Jonny Craig is 1 of my fav vocalist… I skipped the self titled and Happiness album just to see your reaction to the Jonny albums but next I will go back and listen to the rest in order. DGD is a very unique band. You’re so right they are a different vibe. Chill but upbeat.
I WISH I could listen to this album for the first time again. Oh my god. i think its sooo underrated except by, of course, dance gavin dance fans. I wish more people gave it a chance, even if its something they dont think they would like or if theyve never heard dance gavin dance. this is the first album I would recommend to them fr
This album was intended to be their swan song of sorts, with the band bringing back the original lineup for one last slam. This is the first album where every single guitar part was written by Will Swan, their main guitarist through the entirety of their run and the progenitor of the genre, and he is quoted as saying he went all out with the guitars on this album, maybe even a little too far at times. Lucky for us, rather than being the end of the band, this album and its subsequent touring ended up being rejuvenating for the band.
The first 3 Slaves albums with Jonny were excellent, they changed their name to Rain City Drive with Matt but Colin and Felipse were in the studio with Jonny today so I think he's either doing a vocal feature or they've got a new project together
IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL CLOUDY DAY WHILE I WAS A JUNIOR IN HIGH-SCHOOL WHEN THIS ABSOLUTE BANGER OF AN ALBUM CAME -OUT………….!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTE BEAUTIFUL MEMORIE’s Though …….
When this came out I was a senior in high school and I legitimately listened to nothing else for about a year. It was my hyper fixation. To this day it’s my favorite DGD album. There’s something about it, man. I can’t even articulate it.
I remember listening to this album the day it came out and absolutely falling in love with it. 13 years later I still listen to it regularly and still have all the feels. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Their whole discography to this day is something special I feel not too many know about still. The crazy thing is this was suppose to be their last album and I'm so happy it wasn't! I know ALL the drum parts to the this album, matt mingus is one of the goat's of drumming. And will swan IS the GOAT of guitar to me hands down. I was happy to see your first time listening to it and enjoying this masterpiece.
Such an underrated song, and Tillian said they’ll probably never play it again in an interview with the band- prob cuz he could never do what Jonny does to this
DUDE, thats crazy your comment about hiking. I got and old car and drove it hours out into the mountain for a camping trip and just had this album to listen to. It was perfect. Those moments driving are burned into my brain for these songs.
If you're looking for some similar bands, I recommend Eidola. They're not funky like DGD, but they are very, very soulful and combine it with post hardcore very well. Degeneraterra and To Speak, to Listen are both in my top 10 albums of all time. And then there's Hail the Sun, which is also "swancore," (genre named after DGD guitarist). Give Wake a listen. You won't be disappointed.
ive spent many years driving around binging this album. every blue moon, i enter another dbm2 phase. one of the most unbelievably innovative albums in all of post hardcore. this band has had many swancore replicas, but NOTHING compares to true DGD. absolute geniuses.
Watching you watch this I feel like I’m listening to this album for the 1st time again. Meanwhile I’ve heard every song a million times. You got the same musical mindset as me 😂
This music gets me moving at work and during my hobbies. I remember when i first heard dgd and jon had to grow on me but quickly did. You said, everything is so fresh even after well over a thousand listens, probably thousands by now. Still pick up little nuances that make me cry sometimes because whoda thought we could have something so good. New DGD tickles that a lil
Loved this reaction! One of our favorite bands and albums! If you like Dance Gavin Dance I feel you might enjoy my bands debut single “Retrace Embrace 🫂”. Looking forward to hearing more from you! ❤
I'd also love to see a reaction to a band that doesn't get a lot of attention, Sea in the Sky. Their album "Everything all at Once" is great and has some crazy instrumentation
Just fell into your rabbit hole of Dance Gavin Dance, one of my all time favorites. I would suggest trying out Protest the Hero, another very prog band but more on the hardcore/metal side. Start with their first album Kazia.
As far as other bands like this, there are some decent ones in the recommended I can see. I See Stars, We Came As Romans, Hands Like Houses, Jamies Elsewhere, Dayseeker. These are all amazing bands with similar sounds.
I believe johnny was at his peak here. fresh back into DGD and everything from the past behind him. I do think the tillian era sounds great (separate the art from the artist) in its own way but it never captured the band going its hardest with the guitars and bass going lightspeed like battle mountain 2
I like to think the call at the end of blue dream is Jonny going to the studio and didnt want her eyes to be green and sing about blues eyes and he hung up like "i know your eye color bitch dont tell me"
Man I love seeing people as excited about this album as I am
Its like all yall only exist online. No one I know personally that I'm not siblings with likes these dudes or music in general as much as we do.
Agreeeeeeee
they'll be a band that will pop up in maybe 10 or so years that'll mix rnb, soul post hardcore and jazz like this album did. way ahead of its time.
I wanna lead that band
These guys literally created a genre. 10-20 years from now they’ll be taught in music theory.
finding this band at such a young age was a blessing and a curse for me, like all these years since then and i’ve yet to find another artist/band that scratches the same itch these guys did it’s crazy so unique
@kochisean no joke bro. I literally cry a lil tear because I feel alone in my connection to this music and it be hitting hard and no one gets it.
@@davidbrown-chavez1187you got pipes?
Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex is so slept on
Yes, it is all together. DBM2 is a masterpiece dude, in my humble opinion
Hey dude loving the DGD reactions! Make sure when you do the next album(acceptance speech) to do the 2.0 version. It’s the remixed and mastered version of the album and sounds so much better. Keep it up dude!
Yes sir!
100%

this album blows my mind everytime
Privilously poncheesied right into will soup is one my favorite moments in an album ever. Those two songs so fucking good.
This album was intended to be their swan song of sorts, with the band bringing back the original lineup for one last slam. We still have them going strong. Hopefully they're like rush or rhp and write and tour forever.
Good stuff, man. There are 2 "Hot Topic Exclusive" songs on this album, "People You Knew" and "Perfect", Highly recommend
Perfect will always be goated man
Perfect might be some of Jonny’s best work of all time
You should listen to the Emarosa albums with this same lead singer Jonny Craig. The albums are called 'Relativity' and 'Emarosa' by the band "Emarosa"
The first 3 Slaves albums with Jonny were excellent, they changed their name to Rain City Drive with Matt but Colin and Felipse were in the studio with Jonny today so I think he's either doing a vocal feature or they've got a new project together

Bro the drums on this album are something else. Matt is always amazing but this album in particular has some of my favorite drum parts from him

Holy shit forgot how good the end of purple reign is!!!
Such an underrated song, and Tillian said they’ll probably never play it again in an interview with the band- prob cuz he could never do what Jonny does to this
absolutely. It's emotional!
Your face when Will started rapping for the first time 😂 I was waiting for it. Spooks goes so fucking hard
My favorite album dgd 😍🔥🤘🏼
DUDE, thats crazy your comment about hiking. I got and old car and drove it hours out into the mountain for a camping trip and just had this album to listen to. It was perfect. Those moments driving are burned into my brain for these songs.
Great reactions so far man, also let's see that tier list at the end again so we can see where they all stand so far :)
Great Reactions bro. Keep it up, watching and liking every video. DgD is my favorite band
god I can’t wait for Mothership lol. guess i better stick around till you get to it

🤙
DGD peak.
You'll be back to this album if you have the ear for it. Everything else is nice but doesn't come close.
Enjoyed jamming it with you. What you said at the end was straight facts. Best album

Your gonna love the tilian era 2012 - present
I’m sure he will like them but I think he really likes the chill jazzy vibes jonny and his albums bring tho.
Tillian era can be so bland
Please do Secret Band if you haven’t yet. It’s the same band members but just Jon Mess (the unclean vocals) they have two good albums
33:05 hearing this lead for the first time is like losing your virginity lol. unforgettable moment
Emarosa -relativity … you won’t regret it
this is the one right here
Emarosa self-titled is also a fucking good choice, i think it's better than Relativity.
Just fell into your rabbit hole of Dance Gavin Dance, one of my all time favorites. I would suggest trying out Protest the Hero, another very prog band but more on the hardcore/metal side. Start with their first album Kazia.
The way he heard blue dream. I had the same nostalgia
Their best album, in my opinion! My only critique is the mixing and can't really make out what Jonny is singing. Prime Dance Gavin Dance!
poggin'

Do not even mention a single one of those bands in comparison to DGD ever again in your life
@@wanghaf_Gl0yper I love all those bands, but seriously, they couldn't hold a candle to DGD
crazy that swan soup is the least listened on the album

I come here to feel like i have friends with good taste.
Love people that love the same music as me
Pls check "Lost Isles" by Oceans Ate Alaska - imo one of the best metalcore albums of decade.
I love your DGD reactions. You should check out Lower Definition's album The Greatest of All Lost Arts. Thank me later :)
Good Tiger!!!
The album quickly went from my least favorite dgd album to my favorite
pls react the album of A day to remember - For those who have a heart 😖😖😖
GOD the bass on Swan Soup is sex
Holy shit I really listened to it after reading your comment it's so good! Previously poncheezied into swan soup is so fucking good.
What’s it like to be a marble?
Did I get something in your eye?
