    I especially enjoyed and appreciated Dr. Pierce's loving and repeated summarization of Elisha's miracles as foreshadowing Jesus Christ's gifts to us. The summarization has become a sweet mental package in my mind for easy retrieval and pondering. Thank you to Dr. Pierce for your insight and your manner. And thank you to John and Hank for the weekly podcast. Your efforts are a blessing.

    Thank you especially for linking Elisha’s miracles with the Savior’s mission. I have been taking on president Nelson’s challenge to learn about miracles, and this lesson hits all the buttons. Thank you all for opening my eyes. Loved it!

    Thank you for your efforts in enlarging the gospel to apply in our everyday lives. These podcasts are listened to multiple times by me and have not only increased my understanding of the specifics of the scriptures, but it has also widened the breadth of my faith. I thank you for that.

    Thank you Brother Bytheway for including the quote from President John Taylor. I have added it to my book of significant (to me) quotations. Knowing there are angels around us 10,000 times more interested in us than we are in ourselves brings great comfort.

    The thing that is fantastic about studding the Old Testament We are learning so much about the consistency of the gospel through so many dispensations. I'm impresed too with the fact that these prophets are performing the same miracles that the savor will do many years in the future.

    I have been listening today and quite enjoyed my expanded knowledge. Then when we had our zoom call with our grandchildren in Indiana, they told us about going to Nauvoo for their Youth Conference and all got pictures with Hank Smith. They were anxious to share their chance to meet a celebrity in the mormon world.

    The lengthy quote from Elder Holland that Hank Smith reads is in the January 1982 Liahona, not the Ensign.

    If Elijah represented Moses and Elisha is representing Christ and his miracles, could the writers be saying that Christ would be greater than Moses was? Even doubly greater? Lots of interesting thoughts

    Maybe we think that we're not worthy to receiving a miracle blessing from God, after having a life of less blessing in life

    • @judithrasmussem2922
      @judithrasmussem2922 2 года назад +1

      Did Elisha, or the Savior, ever ask about the worthiness of an individual before blessing him with a miracle?
      We know that there is “none worthy but the Savior “. We are all striving to become worthy through the Savior.
      The Savior loves YOU enough to suffer and die for you. Did he suffer for “worthy” people only?
      No, in His life He continually went to the sinners and the lowliest people in society. Please don’t count Him out of your life.
      Don’t deny His love and sacrifice for YOU.

    Very knowledgeable. I have a specific question about the 40+ “boys “who were mauled by the bears. About half of the podcasters and commentators said they actually were not killed but Follow Him said they were. How can I reconcile these completely opposite presentations?

      I would agree with the expert. And also realize there are many examples in the scriptures where things are not literal but symbolic. Perhaps it's hard to say 100% what is literal or symbolic.

      I have always heard they were killed. Most of the people on this podcast have a great depth of knowledge and a better grasp of the early language. I would think the others might be mistaken. I tend to believe the written account insofar as it is translated correctly.

      I believe we have to acknowledge that no one has all the answers. All teachers are doing the best they can with their understanding of the circumstances presented in the scriptures, the commentary of church leaders and often their understanding of the original text. If there is no where that states something exactly we will continue to look for the best answer. Thankfully, in this case, it isn’t an important detail as far as our salvation is concerned. Always the answer is, pray about it and wait on the Lord to help you come to a personal understanding.

    ENOCH, MOSES, AND ELIJAH, ALL (PRE-RESURRECTION) TRANSLATED BEINGS, WERE WITH CHRIST IN HIS RESURRECTION
    54 Yea, and Enoch also, and they who were with him; the prophets who were before him; and Noah also, and they who were before him; and Moses also, and they who were before him;
    55 And from Moses to Elijah, and from Elijah to John, who were with Christ in his resurrection, and the holy apostles, with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, shall be in the presence of the Lamb.
    -D&C 133
    All translated beings accordingly receive what amounts to an instantaneous death and resurrection. Those who were translated before the resurrection of our Lord "were with Christ in his resurrection." (D. & C. 133:55.) Those who have been translated since the resurrection of Christ shall continue to live as mortals until the Second Coming when they shall receive their immortal glory. It will be resurrected, not translated beings, who shall return with the city of Enoch.
    -Elder Bruce R. McConkie (Mormon Doctrine, 807)

    Nothing was said about the 2 women who promised each other they would boil their sons and eat them and after the first woman boild her son the second one hid hers, I'm sure I'm not understanding the connection.
