Congrats on 10k dude. This is only the second video I've seen from you but your are a fantastic creator. It's been almost a decade since I was an optimistic teenager spending hours every single day watching videos about cars on RUclips but your content takes me right back to those days. Just passion for driving. No super flashy cars bought solely for the purpose of flexing on social media by a person who doesn't appreciate what the engineers made it capable of (if anything it's opposite of that with your comments on its lack of "playfulness" 😂) . No over-edited B-roll with hardstyle music blasting in the background. No a * * hole personality coming through in the video. Just a dude sharing the details of what it has been like to afford his... * somewhat * attainable car if I lived on a different continent 😂 Being broke I naturally stopped watching videos of cars I would never be able to buy but this style of video is pulling me right back on. I don't know why your videos were recommended to me based on my recent watch history of mind-numbing garbage but I'm really glad they were. Hope your meetup went well. Congrats on 10k, and here's to 100k 🥂
This why they invented track days, then you’ll find it’s limits legally, track is the way forward for you to be able to have more fun and really stretch it’s legs, I’ll be at Brands hatch in my Trophy R on the 18th of September if you want some passenger laps
@@MickDrivesCars Pop the rear light from the roof, 2 second job, suction cup to the roof with the arm and the camera on, job done I can send you a pic of the one I have, it’s rock solid
I get this same feeling with my megane 3. By the time you feel like you are working the car a bit, your doing dangerous speeds. I've driven it on spa and then i started to notice how insanely quick these things actually are.
It's interesting that you mention getting the feeling of a car being "too planted", when I was picking new tires for my Miata I specifically chose a "bad" option (Nankang NS-2, a very cheap "performance" tire) so that I can play at the limit of grip even at legal speeds. I'm sure it would suck to drive on these tires at a race track, but that's not something I've tried yet. There are even a few famous cases of cars being shipped with "bad" tires for this reason. For example I remember hearing all the talk about people complaining that the Toyota GT86 has Prius tires fitted from the factory
Yo, excellent video. I’ve just finalised a deal today and picking up my RS Trophy next week. What An amazing test drive. Don’t see many on the roads due to everyone wanting German these days so it suits me a lot
So right as it is a tad wide...I have had to re wire my driving to adjust to the width...Love the car and just went past my one year ownership as well. Same colour but a 280 Cup with the 18's. Love the car and yes it has immense grip though I think the 4 wheel stear does add to the handling without you even realising.
Great video. Seems like you've got a good one, my 280's manual gearbox failed last month (mazda box) just over 25k miles. But overall your review is pretty bang on, I average 28mpg but I work in the middle of Manchester. You said your next service is spark plugs, but you're only on 21k miles on a PH2. Is that just the Renault recommended interval? I've not had anything mentioned to me from Renualt on my 2019. I also have the issue with the width, its absolute gorgeous to look at, but on my terraced street I have to put a wheels width on the curb so nobody turns into it when parking. I never get bored of mine. On Saturday I did a track experience day in a ferrari 430, Lamborghini LP560, and a Porsche 997 Turbo. And I was still glad to leave in my Megane RS. The only car that was more fun of the 3 was the Porsche. I agree with your point about it feeling too easy to drive. I've only understeered in the car once going around a corner, but it immediately came back into grip just by letting off the throttle. The 4 wheel steering is magical, but it's so hard to explain to anybody who's never driven the car. I also had a crap dealer experience, I bought the car from Renault Manchester and was told its got 5 years warranty. I took it to my local Renault for a repair and they were adamant that the system said my warranty had expired (3 years old), but I stood my ground and had to contact Manchester Renault myself to have them set it right. I've not had an issue with being treated poorly, but that's probably because they're used to me being in as I owned a 2020 Clio from them before the Megane RS. But yes, the prices they charge are absolutely daft. One of my favourite things about the car, is how good the engine and exhaust sounds. I rarely go a day on the road without someone turning to look at what they hear coming. No doubt some are probably surprised or disappointed to see it's a Renault.

Yessss....It happened to me in Alberton in 2018 October. I was ignored...some guy came to me and told that it is very expensive (indicating that I cannot afford it)...Well I really wanted this car so I went to The Glen and bought it.
when you are driving fast, do you turn off the traction control? I found it making HUGE difference in my Audi S5 - with traction on, it's almost impossible to make it "dangerous" on a public road. Turn traction off.... Now every hard breaking requires tiny input to the steering wheel to keep going straight, accelrator tap in 2nd can almost oversteer you etc. You still have to go fast, because the car is that good, but it unlocks fun at lower level of speed

Very interesting hearing your customer experience with Renault's aftersales. If your 2nd key wasn't coming from France, I wonder where it was coming from, to take almost a year to arrive😂I currently work at BMW aftersales as an apprentice and unless a part that a customer needs is a low-demand item on major back-order or a discontinued part for an old car, it would take no longer than 10 working days from Germany haha. First of all, for me actually thinking about getting one of these in the future, this video was great. Of course I‘m gonna go for a test drive in the future at a dealer near me. However… I find it weird that the Renault dealers has such an arrogant attitude towards you. They‘re not like that at all here in Germany. This is reserved for the Mercedes, BMW and Audi dealers😂.
Well if you felt uncomfortable at the Renault dealer I don't advise you the Audi "cathedrals". They won't consider you unless you're equipped with a 2 piece " Uber Alles" suit. Jokes aside congrats for the 10k.
Fuel economy good ???, my vrs 245 has nearly same performance and my long term average is 39mpg. Im not sure how they calculate power by vrs has very muscular performance 280lb ft @1500
39 is very good for 245bhp! There's not many cars 300+ that can do 30+mpg though - most golf R will do 25-30, can't really think of anything that does crazy good MPG in that power bracket (not diesel).
the very reason why you're not getting much out of it at 50/70 may well be because the far is car more capable and can be pushed waaaaaaay beyond that. take it to a track.
I had a R26 was a fun car to drive but absolutely terrible reliability. Went to the Renault dealership once ! Was a terrible experience. Completely different experience from Porsche that I own now they couldn’t do enough for you including free coffee and biscuits 😊.
Nice work on the video and thoughts. 370hp? Too much for front wheels to handle. Also, if you choose to purchase a performance car, you have to pay premium for parts. Brakes are life saving and it is your responsibility to maintain them. Maybe a boosted Fiesta ST is what you are after. The true capability of this type of car can only be unlocked at the track. Perhaps look inwards when your human interactions are not what you envisioned. No one cares what you wear when you enter a dealership, perhaps, its your personality I have owned Megane 280 cup and 24 Honda Type R. I am as fat and wide as the Megane RS and also happen to dress like shit. i have had no issues with staff at any Dealership over the past 7 years. Great advice. Thanks. 👍
I’m sorry but your take on the car being too “competent” is a bit naive and arrogant lol. You’re saying the car should’ve been made to a lower spec just to suit your inability to drive it to its limit
It's more like at legal speeds you just can't get anywhere near the limit. You can watch videos of me at the track very much exceeding the limit but it's not socially responsible to drive that hard on the road.
@@MickDrivesCars I mean that’s why legal speeds are there in the first place right? They’re there so when you drive at the legal speed you’re in control of your car. I completely understand what you are saying but I just think it’s a very odd way to criticise a sports car for being too sporty.
@@tyebando5123 Send an ND Mx-5 down a backroad at legal speeds and it will get closer to the limit, move around, communicate and just generally ''feel'' faster. Same with like a R53/R56 mini or any number of enthusiast cars. It's the 245 width tyres. It's too much grip for having responsible fun.

@@MickDrivesCars Both my FK2 CTR's got 35 mpg + which I loved.
the very reason why you're not getting much out of it at 50/70 may well be because the far is car more capable and can be pushed waaaaaaay beyond that. take it to a track.
Can u tell me what is the mpg on the highway on 75 mph or 125 km/h and in the city how is the mpg
38.5mpg at constant 72mph... So maybe 36ish?
City if you're gentle and use stop start, 22-25 is doable. Heavy foot and you're easily in the teens.
I had a R26 was a fun car to drive but absolutely terrible reliability. Went to the Renault dealership once ! Was a terrible experience. Completely different experience from Porsche that I own now they couldn’t do enough for you including free coffee and biscuits 😊.
It's a shame its grey tho 😢
What colour would you prefer?
@@RM-pn8wy no offence bro! I would say yellow haha 🤣. Grey looks great too!
Thanks. 👍
Wish my Clio got 31 mpg 😭😭😂😂
Put some budget tyres on it lol.
But then you lose wet performance which gets dangerous. No way to win.
Cars getting wider is the worst trend in auto industry
They really are getting silly now - even ''tiny'' class cars are really wide. You can't get the supermini experience anymore
Mate you driving it like a granny and complaining it's missing the "danger" element lol
