Hi Stu great video , Please keep them coming . I,am a plumber / heating engineer and your tips helps when repairing brick and block work, when I take a boiler out leaving the old flue hole , So thanks .
Nice job, I really NEED to learn how to use this bricks to build a complete house and how the plumbing and electrical works can be done. Thanks Please I really NEED to learn so much from you.
Watched this with my just-turned-five-year-old son last night. When it went to fast speed when you were laying the bricks, he got mad and said "Too bad it was all sped up" so I promised him I'd ask whether there are videos of the whole freaking job. :D My son would watch hours of Stu Crompton if I would let him!
I’m thinking of doing this for my French doors, but as rising damp is a huge issue in my house, would it be beneficial to fit a dpc/dpm to prevent bridging the house dpc?
Hey buddy - nice job that one. I am about to do the same in front of french doors. I already have a lock block area and patio slab area where this will be built. Will follow your advice to put the mortar on and build the brick base. there is a little area where there is no lockblock/paving slabs, but a garden area which I have to dig out in order to make the step in front of door. How do I go on that area? Shall I compact the aread firmly first and then lay the base mortar? or I have to replace the area with hardcore base?
Would you use the same technique for building a raised patio? I want to build a couple of course high wall, build up the inside and then lay the slabs on top. Also would I need a double skin of bricks? Great videos by the way....really helpful 👍🏻
Thought so with accent, iam in warrington so if I need brickwork doing my self will give u a call mate, will also pass your name & number on...... keep up the good work mate and excellent videos.
Great work and love watching you at work. I notice there was a pipe running in to the brick work and was wondering how you tackled that with the flagstone. Did you make a cut for the pipe? Also wonder how any future maintenance to the pipe will be a challenge, perhaps why the step was only one course high.
Great vid - thanks for that! Do you have any advice when there is an air brick under the doorway which would be blocked in this scenario? Also, when it is a concrete base underneath which you would need to build the step onto? Cheers!
Remove said air brick and incorporate it into the brickwork step and then connect a piece of pipe something like a rainwater downpipe over a air ducting pipe to the renewed air brick and poke it through the hole left when you removed the air brick
I saw nothing wrong with the bricks at the right end. There is always variation, and those are in keeping with that. Sometimes people can pick anything apart.
That’s borderline to high. 175mm max height for risers. May have squeeze 2 steps out the pos. always like to have the slab up just 10mm from under the plastic cill on door. Am a believer of coming out to similar level of inside. Normally patio doors 900mm. Top platt. But regs vary
Cracking work as always stu. I'm trying to do the same ( I'm complete novice). I've been told not to touch the wall on the house because of the damp proof course. Apparently don't build above six inches below the dam proof course. 🤯. What are your thoughts? So much info to take in
By the way I'm a time served bricklayer who has worked on massive contracts and Stu is a man I would have loved to work alongside. I'm retired now from bricklayer. An ambulance service man now for the last 25 years
Good to see him come back and rectify his work not many builder out there that would do that hat off to u sir 👍🏻
Top lad, going back to change the bricks. I can’t get my builder to come back and finish the job he started! Thanks Stu
Stu takes pride in his work real pro !!! 🙏
Fair play for spotting your mistake and sorting it out. Theres not many out there like you stu
Lovely stu even something simple like this you still manage to make the finished thing look amazing
Also stu , I’ve got a recommendation for a songs in your videos I think it would be good it’s called blue and evil by joe bonamassa
Mate a wonderful job as always. Never thought I could take comfort from seeing your great work. Good stuff!
Stu makes it look so simple, if only it worked like that for me.
Massive thank you for this video, I'm attempting to do a similar thing in my garden and it's given me real insight into the process
Hi Stu great video , Please keep them coming . I,am a plumber / heating engineer and your tips helps when repairing brick and block work, when I take a boiler out leaving the old flue hole , So thanks .

Coincidentally I'm doing the exact same on Monday! Very neat 👍

Outstanding brickwork 👍👍🔥🔥
Do steps need to be 150mm below the DPC like other paving/patios?
champion job stu....... :D
Cheers chloe
No puedo parar de ver tus videos!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍 excelente
I’m thinking of doing this for my French doors, but as rising damp is a huge issue in my house, would it be beneficial to fit a dpc/dpm to prevent bridging the house dpc?
surprised he didn't do it here, I would 100% use dpm to protect the wall, and a half a bubble gradient on the slabs
This video is fantastic... What sand cement ratio would u recommend for doing this job? Thanks.. Or would you recommend a pre mixed mortar bag, thanks
Great work

Кромптон чини велику ствар јер убеђује свакога од нас да и ми покушамо да будемо мајстори.
То ради маестрално.

Tidy job stu👍
cheers Karl mate have a nice weekend bud
TBH I did clock the different bricks you laid but didn't think it would be a problem as they were in the return and wouldn't be seen?
Beautiful!
What's the mix for the bed of the flags and for the pointing? Also was it necessary to prime them?
Would you use the same technique for building a raised patio? I want to build a couple of course high wall, build up the inside and then lay the slabs on top. Also would I need a double skin of bricks?
Great videos by the way....really helpful 👍🏻
Good job 👍
Cheers from Brazil!

stu crompton you've entertained me again . That's another 10 minutes I didn't have to listen to the wife 😂😂👍
Lol Dave!!!
Do you have to fill it in under the slabs?
Hi Stu, great video. I'm doing exactly this job. How long do you let the bricks and mortar set before laying the flags on top? Cheers
Wheres the best palace to get the weep holes from ?
Stu when building a step up does it matter if you bridge the damp course.
nice job👍
How did you dismantle?
Great work and love watching you at work. I notice there was a pipe running in to the brick work and was wondering how you tackled that with the flagstone. Did you make a cut for the pipe? Hi stu , just curious but how much do u normally charge for these sort of jobs ?
Sorry my mistake lol I watched it back and saw the rogue faces haha I was going by the tops of the bricks 👍🏻
How do you put the plates? In the horizon or with a slight slope to the outer edge?
Absolutely great video mate thank you, please ditch the background music you have good insights and nice personality
Always like to see flags on a full bed personally
I saw nothing wrong with the bricks at the right end. There is always variation, and those are in keeping with that. Sometimes people can pick anything apart.
Hi stu lad what's building control for risers/tread etc, so much conflicting info out there. Cheers keep the good work up 👍
That’s borderline to high. 175mm max height for risers. May have squeeze 2 steps out the pos. always like to have the slab up just 10mm from under the plastic cill on door. Am a believer of coming out to similar level of inside.
Normally patio doors 900mm. Top platt.
But regs vary
Hi stu how you doing and keep up the good work mate 🙂
all good Liam buddy
That’s good to hear how about kc
Kiln dried sand swept in-between the block pavers instead of debris...would be best.
it was dried cement, so that was fine. thanks for watching
Shoddy job mate shoddy job
Only kidding haha
They will probably paint the brick anyway Iike the house.
can you put up a playlist or maybe some of the artists?
Nice work and what's the first song called realky nice 👍
how does it hurt by martin hall
@@Jonny-ez3dh thankyou mate
Nice job stu but still don't look centred to door frame
Am Rand zum Haus , hätte ich eine Siliconfuge gesetzt. Sonst gute Arbeit
They didn't want to move that electrical conduit? That would bug me every time I walk in the door 😄
it was left there for pessimists :)
Excellent video, but too much loud music.
Cracking work as always stu. I'm trying to do the same ( I'm complete novice). I've been told not to touch the wall on the house because of the damp proof course. Apparently don't build above six inches below the dam proof course. 🤯. What are your thoughts? So much info to take in
brill m8
cheers mick pal have a good weekend mate
Stu if it was build on a solid concrete base - would you still need weep vents? Cheers
Think the lower step is too high. To my eyes, it will be equal height as upper step if it was recessed by half-a-brick into the ground.
Love the video but not a good music choice.
Y weep holes don’t need them in there no tray for a start 😂😂
Stu, what song at 6:00 minutes ? thx. nice job by the way.
darude sandstorm
Pretty sneakers
Whats the song name?
ดีๆครับ
พัชรพงษ์ ใสแสง
Exactly
ขอบคุณเพื่อน
Where new trowel stu
in my tool bag mate
"Cushty"
Should have cladded the step with the flags would look 100 time better
Cladding would have ruined the brickwork appearance and the traditional way of building.
By the way I'm a time served bricklayer who has worked on massive contracts and Stu is a man I would have loved to work alongside. I'm retired now from bricklayer. An ambulance service man now for the last 25 years
I m your old remember but you don't reply my sms
