    Finally!
    Edit: I didn’t remove the plastic on my pine tab screen too!

      hahaha... yep. I need to get a screen protector. On version 1 I found a compatible Android tablet tempered glass screen protector.
      If I find a good one for version 2, will share.

      I left mine on for a long time as well until somone told me there was a screen protector already applied under the peel off plastic. At first it will not be an enjoyable experience touching the screen because of the sticky residue left over by the peel off layers glue, but it wipes of pretty quick through normal use.

    funny, i have been daily driving linux for about a year now and i have only opened the terminal/console about 3-4 times now!
    you are right, to properly understand linux i should do more terminal work, thanks for the push, i will try to use it more from now on!
    as always, love your content and i cant wait for more!

    Thank you big time. I finally got time on my hands to get back to my PinTab2 and remembered the wifi issue ... This is a total gamechanger for me. With a USB dongle it worked, but also having a USB-C to A dongle was sooo stupid ... thanks again!

    I love the pinetab. I don’t need wifi for the way I use it, but I will definitely be trying this out on mine.

      It's a great little device. Would like to see them sell the rtl-sdr modules again for it like v1!

    • @cliffchism9187
      @cliffchism9187 6 месяцев назад

      @@RTPTechTipswow. I had no idea the pt1 had an internal rtl-sdr module. That would be awesome for pt2. But, i dont see it happening. Not a whole lot of room in there (although i never specifically looked for any sort of expansion slot). And its pretty hairy getting it open without cracking the screen. Not something id want to do unless i absolutely had to.

    • @RTPTechTips
      @RTPTechTips  6 месяцев назад +2

      Well, it didn't come that way entirely - it came with a small internal antenna that wasn't good for much - I ended up buying some connectors / parts, grinded some down to fit inside tablet, and drilled a hole for external antenna port. My video on this: ruclips.net/video/V-C6JzXhXbA/видео.html
      I really think tablets with SDR could have been a huge selling point.

    • @RTPTechTips
      @RTPTechTips  6 месяцев назад +2

      Had to really grind the parts / SMA bolt on various places and did various experiments - the first one involved bending things to prevent screen breaks.
      Needless to say once I had everything the way I wanted, it worked out excellently!
      Here's an example using the pinetab + internal SDR to pull transmissions from my Qubes laptop speakers (speakers acting as remote transmitting microphone), a potential security concern example: ruclips.net/video/bK-CcnfP_ws/видео.html
      I'm going to see if I can source this module, as I'd love to do the same to Pinetab v2. It's so useful to have all in one Linux laptop / touchscreen SDR.

      Preliminary stability for me has been quite bad. Hanging on reboots and so far almost unusable.

      It's always nice to see! I'd like to do more pinetab videos. It's a nice device, with realistic use cases in mind.
      Sometimes I'll work on it while watching / reading something on another computer.
      Makes a nice portable script /development / education device.
      May see how it handles SDR work. 😀

    Thanks. I am going to try this now. Sucks traveling with the dongle hanging out of the side. Now to figure out extra keys on the virtual keyboard like arrow keys and tab.

      Just a warning: mine became a bit unstable and hangs on reboot. Haven't applied any upgrades since then though, or had chance to look at it yet.

    an easy solution, lovely stuff
    real quick, the vid starts with a LOT of fluff, when the fix is a quick edit of some text and 1 command

      @RTPTechTips  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for feedback / comment RunicLena!
      Yes indeed - I never write a script (or notes for that matter!), I just start talking and let the editor sort it out on most videos. 😆
      I also noticed this 'off the cuff', uncut video came out extra fluffy, on first review. 😅
      Sometimes (as smaller channel), not all videos feel worth the edit time (this one for temp issue, likely only to be useful for short period). ;)
      Thanks for your comment.
      Based on your comment, added a couple timestamps to help users skip my random talk. ;)

    How to get connected to Internet? Do I need some items? You able to use Internet inside the PineTab 2.

    • @RTPTechTips
      @RTPTechTips  4 месяца назад

      It has an internal wifi card. If you follow what is shared on video, should have some wifi functionality. It wasn't entirely stable when I last tried it, but may check for updates.

    • @zweiwing4435
      @zweiwing4435 4 месяца назад

      @@RTPTechTips please add the link of that item. I wish to purchase it.

      Just so you know it is still not stable for wifi and I don't recommend getting it if intending to use wifi at this time. The video covered how to test the internal wifi - but it crashes and I don't want you to get the wrong idea.
      The Pinetab 2 is mostly for those interested in Linux arm development.
      With that said, here is a link: pine64.com/product/pinetab2-10-1-8gb-128gb-linux-tablet-with-detached-backlit-keyboard/
      Though the internal wifi is not stable, I also have used ethernet attached to usb-c for most of my network access - for greater reliability.

      @@RTPTechTips why the company started sell if they know the device is not good state?

    • @RTPTechTips
      @RTPTechTips  4 месяца назад

      @@zweiwing4435Pine64 sells / designs hardware around their single board computer designs for communities to play with. There are volunteer devs, mostly.
      They started out making only single board computers, and now have released pinephone based on their sbc design / hardware. And tablet / lora gateway based on sbc design.
      I do think they should have chosen a different wifi for more support.
      Just want to make sure you are aware of the wifi state not being ideal yet.

      Absolutely - I wouldn't recommend it for most non-techies.
      I have received MUCH email from 1st time ever Linux users who bought the Pinephone etc thinking it would be a good learning Linux investment (it is), and others who were disappointed it wasn't "ready" for them.
      Many layers to the lingo.
      I try to make understandable for broadest possible audience (even if algorithm doesn't care, haha). ;)
