The WORST Candles of 2023!

- I have to say that I probably branched out of my candle comfort zone more than ever in 2023. There were some hits, some eh, they're good but not worth a repurchase, and yes, there were definitely some misses for me.
Before I launch into my BEST candles of 2023, I thought it would be helpful to discuss the candles that just were not for me this year. These candles were all completely NEW to me this year, even if they weren't necessarily new to the brand. Also, keep in mind that fragrance is VERY subjective and you may LOVE some of these candles. If that is you, please keep on burning them. :)

I loved watching this video! So funny- your inspiring me to make my own version 😅. I personally love both BBW Black Cherry x Marshmallow Fireside as well as KC BlackBerry Buttercream. We all have different tastes- that’s what makes fragrance fun!

Totallly agree with you on Gourgeous. I was so sure I would love it, but I found it very odd, I can’t even remember the scent … it was just weird. My #1 worst for the year is Chestnuts Roasting from Homeworx. To my nose, it smells like lemon tea … verging on cat pee.
I had that candle in 2022 & remember it being SO strong & I also didn’t like it. Yes, it bordered cat pee to me too. It came off perfume-y acidic.

This is a great idea for a video!! I really enjoyed it! The two most “trying” candles for me this year both have lemon notes. For some reason, citrus notes can give me a headache. I like these two candles, but I can only burn them for very short periods of time. They are Kringle’s Cosmic Cupcakes and Homeworx Sunday Morning Cereal which smells similar to Froot Loops. My nose only likes the lemon note for about 45 minutes.
Oh wow! My nose loves lemon so that’s interesting. I didn’t try the cereal one from Homeworx, but the Cosmic cupcakes candle I felt was just meh.
I'm really enjoying your channel!!! I agree 100% on the Kringle conceptual Halloween scents. They're too far out from my preferences, and while I applaud the innovation, I just am not a fan.

Are Homeworx candles burning better this year? After last year I have been scared to buy them.
They’re honestly not as consistent as they were pre-pandemic, but they improved quite a bit in 2023. I found that I had more good performers than bad, especially in the Fall & Winter lineup.
@@katiesjoyfullifethat is good news. They have some amazing fragrances, but they were becoming as high maintenance as BBW candles and sometimes the throw was non-existent while burning.
@@Adulthoomanfemale yes, if I didn’t have this channel, I’d have no room for Hugh maintenance candles. I really want Homeworx to do well because Harry is a master of fragrance blends & I enjoy a lot of their scents. I just want that performance to be consistently good.
I'm not a fan of Patchouli. Witches Brew from Yankee was ok but never bought it again. If patchouli is mixed with another scent like Nature's Wick Amber Patchouli, then I'll burn it and possibly like it. Spiced Pumpkin Cider from Yankee was nasty but burned it all the way through last year and will never get it again. Some scents are just gross and weird and never should've existed. Since it's subjective, I'm not a picky candle burner, I'm willing to try any scent from the brands I like once and give it a go. Making mental notes of which ones to avoid can be hard to remember sometimes. I know the scent of cat pee all too well lol. Happy burning.
My mom was a “crazy cat lady,” so I am quite familiar with that scent too 😂
@@katiesjoyfullife Haha, I've had cats and rats in the 90's at the same time and you eventually get used to the smell and litter one as well. Didn't care about the fleas though.
