Just bought this camera here in Oz and am finding these videos quite useful. I know that Canon seem to update these EOS releases every year or so but the 550 will do me for a while. I like the feel of it in the hand and it'll take me a while to get my head around all the menus and functions. Thanks for making these walkthrough videos, they're informative and easy to watch.
@Appleaddict22 Hello, no problem. If you shop around then the Canon 550D is a good fit and might just be in your budget. Otherwise my money would be with the Olympus E-PL1 (if 720P video is OK).
i just bought this camera about 20 days ago...i m still in great love with it!!!!shooting every second of my life in a way annoying for the others!!!hehehe...but when they seen the quality of picture and video they taking poses!!!hahaha
just got one with the efs 18-55mm is and the tamron af70-300mm very happy i couldnt make my mind up on what new cam too buy , till i seen your vids on this thanks davomrmac

Something nice about the Canons, besides overall design, is the shutter releases are totally seperate (no integrated switches surrounding it) Decent lenses are more expensive than the camera bodys though, that's the only downside.
I am planning on buying this camera as an upgrade to my canon hv30, mainly for the excellent video this produces, just wondering if the axcess shoe at the top accommodates the dm-50 mic? The mic is shipping in the mail right now, which i had planned on using for the hv30, but after seeing the reviews of this camera i'd like to know if it was a waste of my money.
@AETrainingDavid97 With a wide selection of lenses, I think you could make this work in most situations. However, for ghost hunting, maybe look at low lux recording camcorders, check out the specs of offerings from Canon, Sony and Panasonic. Anyone else have any recommendations?
when you focus/zoom manually with the kit lens during a video, can you hear that later in the video, i mean the zooming and focusing, does that make a sound you can hear later..?? ( i know it does in autofocus mode, but what about manual focus..??)
@andreiblond2508 550D great for photos & video. Nikon D5100 great for both, plus does AF during video. My money would go on the Nikon, or perhaps a video cam would be more suitable. Depends what you need it for, photo or video?

Hi, I´m from Buenos AIres, Argentina. I have a T2i and I used to film a lot, I recognize a known bug on this camera: OVERHEATING.. That is a concern for me, after record near 20 minutes of video (in few steps), the display shows a signal saying: Almost burned. So, I need to turn-off the camera and wait a few.. not a deal ! Question: There is a way to solve this problem? Question 2: Does the T3i solve this problem? Thank you !!!

@ScrewCevo I would suggest a minimum 8GB, preferably 16GB card and yes you can erase or format after you have transferred your photos.

What do you think is better Canon 550D or Sony A55? The Canon looks like it has a better build quality but Sony has more features.
