Great video, a real help but my lockshield valve seems to be different?
Your valve has a place to attach the hose and then and another part where you use a spanner to open the valve to let the water run out.
On my valve there is only one single drain off with the square nut sort of inside the part you attach the hose to.
If you attach the hose you then can't access the square nut to open the valve.
How do I use this type of drain off valve? Cheers

My system has taken 6 hours to drain. I tried to make it go faster by attaching a hand-pump to the end of the hose to pull on the water. Central heating work is hard!

Do you have to wait for the water to cool down before draining/removal? If so, how long must you wait?

It's probably advisable to do it when the water is cooler and when the heating is off. Give it at least an hour to allow the system to cool down, you don't want to get scalded.

At about 1:00 you missed out the step where you have to fuck about with the drain valve for hours on end because the valve gets stuck (after years of inactivity). Then you have to pull the entire valve body out and behave like Moses holding back the water for a while.

Don't you have to turn off the water?

It’s a closed pressurised system. It’s not fed by running water
