If you haven't read Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, I suggest you do. One of the most important things to carry as a Hitchhiker is a towel. This video is the best example of that idea. Star Trek would learn well from this education. Great video!
One of the best ways I found to use a shemagh to increase warmth, once when stuck out in cold weather with insufficient (Army) issue clothing was to take my shirt off, tie the shemagh around my neck so the majority of it draped down my back. Then put the shirt back on. It is only your back, but it adds a whole extra layer of fluffy. It made a significant difference. Easy to quickly remove if it warms up or you have to get to physical work, just untie the knot and pull it up past your head.
Great video and review. "Hitch hikers' Guide to the Galaxy " says the most useful thing to carry on travels is a towel, shemagh is the bushcraft equivalent. Always have one on (earth or forest green), one in kit and orange blaze in kit.
Great video David! Everyone should have one! Laundry bag in a river, tie 2 sticks to opposite sides at both ends to carry a bundle of wood, strain boiled foods, cover food from flies, and the list goes on!
I bought my three shemaghs in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, for pennies on the dollar. That was in 1986. I still use them to this day in my van. I live and travel throughout the U.S. (nomad). One is in my Go Bag, and the other two became curtains for the rear two door windows. They are held up by magnets. When hiking I used them to filter debris from creek water.
A buddy and I went on went on a three day kayak trip down the Mississippi River a couple years ago, camped out on islands, it was a great time. I brought my shemagh primarily as a sun blocker, ended up using it to sop water out of my kayak in the middle of the river more than once, amazing piece of gear!
I remember you using the sniper veil as a sling for the PKS Forest Tool on Dirty Rotten Survival almost 10 years ago. Always thought that was such a nifty idea. Used it that way ever since.
one thing i can say about the pathfinder squadron they are awfully resilient. making information, interesting AND useful isnt easy especially after the dozens and dozens of topics and different approaches to those topics to boot. keeping us coming back for more takes hard work so... cheers dave and crew.🍻
I bought some from your store a few years ago. One I gave to my youngest daughter for a christmas present. She really loved it. We had fun looking up videoson how to tie it. This was years ago and I think they were a little bit more than the sale price even then. Still got the others. Think I better pack one or two into my hiking kit .
I carry two cotton handkerchiefs everywhere I go. To the office, to church, everywhere. Part of my ten Cs EDC. Hardest to EDC is the container; A sheet of foil can be made into a cup, wrapped in the handkerchief :-) I’m always wondering if I’m carrying too much gear but it’s quite comfortable and not bulgy so I don’t mind.
I was going to get a couple full-size handkerchiefs the big ones instead of a shamog but I need to get 100% cotton ones and it's hard to find actual Cotton ones they say they are but a lot of times it's fake nowr 90% so on. im definitely getting one from self reliance store.
Dave fill that shemagh with cat tail fluff and fold over, and it makes a great dressing. Similarly it can be a temporary feminine pad if the need arose. I’ve used mine as a belt and possibles bag numerous times.
Four items the Dutch army gave me and I never returned , which are actually still in the trunk of my car for over 15 years as a civilian: Gerber Entrenching tool, Poncho, Leatherman and the Shemagh. Very useful items.
It's the coolest piece of kit that I never seem to use. I've carried many, many times over the years and never used it and have never missed it when I didn't have it. It might be that I carry enough other gear to cover most of what the shemagh does: a merino buff, a water filter, a tourniquet, an oversized orange bandana, etc. It might be more handy if I was more of a minimalist.
Really wish this sale had a limit lol by the time I got off work they was gone! Hopefully u run across another great deal on these or something else. Really good sale and great salesmen to pass that savings along
Do the color patterns mean anything? I wear one at work when it’s cold and windy. I’ve got some weird looks from middle eastern people as they drove through my work zone. It’s brown with small black checkers on it. Ty
You're awesome Dave. Are there any railroads near you? I'm in Cleveland Ohio and can't afford a car but would love to hop on a railcar and take a class.
Seems like a good thing to have but I would be hesitant to use it for much in the winter other than a scarf. Cotton is not ideal in freezing conditions because it can freeze. Kinda like why people tell you not to lay towels out for cats because they will freeze to them if it's cold enough. Otherwise I can see it being very useful.
Well crap...I JUST BOUGHT two of these a couple weeks ago when your titanium tent stakes were on sale...and by on sale I mean you were practically giving them away! And now you're giving away shemaghs! Conveniently I'm off on Friday, I'll be home AND it's payday! Got an alarm set for 12:55....I hope you have blaze orange for hunting season.
I’m new to this topic & your channel. My husband & I are wanting to learn a lot about survival with our country & world changes. Where do I find your store or shop on line? Thanks for your informative videos!
One thing that I will say is, that I HATE cotton. While I do carry a couple of Bandannas for use as sweat bands, and what have you, when it comes to something this size, I prefer wool, though they're harder to come by. They're great as a scarf, but I've also spent summers doing trail work, with a water soaked Shemagh on, to stay cool and keep sun off my body. It works great, provided you're in a water rich environment.
A net is like a machete; Two of the most underrated pieces of gear for the woods. I've lost count of how many survival shows I've seen where a simple net would've fed them on the spot.
I’m concerned with the quality of some of the shemaghs I’ve gotten in the past. Maybe you can clarify since you have a lot more experience but should they be so thing you can see through them? Just seems wrong but I can’t find any that aren’t like that.
Special is 1pm EST thank you for your support. Please like and subscribe

No joke dude, I've had mine for over 15 years, still going strong. Never travel or camp without it. invaluable.

Gotta love that you have a whiteboard, and you use it as a mounting surface for your blackboard.
Great video David! Everyone should have one! Laundry bag in a river, tie 2 sticks to opposite sides at both ends to carry a bundle of wood, strain boiled foods, cover food from flies, and the list goes on!
It makes the best scarf in winter. I stay alot warmer .

I can confirm Dave is the biggest and best salesman for a shemagh in the world! I have a few, and now I need to buy a dozen more. 😅
Excellent video and you included some uses that I had not thought of. Also I really appreciate the mention!

The number 1 multi tool, one of my most used items in camp plus I wrap up my canteen and poncho in it and tie round waist for walkabout
Reminds me all the uses of the Boy Scout neckerchief we learned when I was much younger.
Great lessen for newbies and advanced campers, hunting, ets ,very detailed ! Thank you David 👍

Just got one for Christmas. this is decent timing, it’s always good to get new ideas for how to use a piece of gear

Smokin' deal, Dave! Thanks for sharing.
You’re doing amazing work, David! Mad respect!
With the Fire category you could use the shemagh for gathering fire wood, bark, or even for foraging
love the shout out to Waypoint Survival
Thank you Dave for taking the time to record this.
I love my shemagh note: if submerged in hot water the color runs😊thanks Dave😊
My Shemagh goes with me everywhere, sometimes two, I was familiar with lots of uses but some shown her I never thought about, thanks Dave
I bought one on the bridge at Venton County Fairgrounds during the Pathfinder Gathering 2023. Green.
Use mine during cold winter weather all the time. Will be great during spring pollen season coming up.
Thanks Dave for all you do, and for all your knowledge.
Thank you Mr. Canterbury I always enjoy watching your channel and I absolutely love your product. Thank you for sharing.

Lots of uses I never even thought of. Thank you!
Thank you for your time. Thank you for your products too. A couple years ago i bought your bearing block and its still like new. I love that item.
Yet another outstanding video and i definitely have watched the hobo videos from another favorite channel- waypoint survival
The snow / ice melt was a new one for me, very clever. Good deal for those who were able to take advsntsge
There's a frood who really knows where his towel is.
Love this video. Kept thinking that you could use it as shamoie to wipe the blackboard off though😅
I'm using Shemags since 1980, never going outdoors without one.
I was going to get a couple full-size handkerchiefs the big ones instead of a shamog but I need to get 100% cotton ones and it's hard to find actual Cotton ones they say they are but a lot of times it's fake nowr 90% so on.

Your the only person I hit like as the video starts. Everybody else I have to watch the video.
Yes, that and a nicely made quality Bandanna are my EDC.
you could always attach the shemagh to a stick and collect the dew early in the morning off grass. Use it like a mop.
Right on, thanks Dave

Nice stuff David. Thanks for the tips. Gonna try and sneak in an order for an orange shamaug.
Gotcha, Dave. I'm looking forward to Fri.

Your products are AWESOME 💯.... THANK YOU DAVE💪👍
All fantastic ideas!!!
Awesome. Added a few more ideas to my list of uses.. thanks brother. Keep it up
Thank you Dave!
Wow I paid $14 bucks for mine at a surplus store. Now it is pretty cool with skull and crossbones on it like the one your showing.
Great rundown.
Really wish this sale had a limit lol by the time I got off work they was gone! Hopefully u run across another great deal on these or something else. Really good sale and great salesmen to pass that savings along
In the summer i soak mine in cold water, wrap my head and it keeps me working, walking roads in Vegas.
The mesh style can also be used as a mosquito/bug net to protect against bitting flying insects
Great video !!! Maybe a new series?? Cover an item and all its uses. Plus maybe something you have a lot of stock in and run a special on it.
Another good vid.
Knowledge is power.
What time zone, please, Dave? I'm in Australia, will need to set an alarm.
😴
Good one... These are great ideas!
Do the color patterns mean anything? I wear one at work when it’s cold and windy. I’ve got some weird looks from middle eastern people as they drove through my work zone. It’s brown with small black checkers on it. Ty
Thank you.
Great clip Dave!
That’s a steal at that price!
Excellent demonstration
You're awesome Dave. Are there any railroads near you? I'm in Cleveland Ohio and can't afford a car but would love to hop on a railcar and take a class.
Absolutely brilliant
Great. Are you going to put a limit per customer? Thanks
4pm est on Friday. I see 5 colors listed, 3 of them out of stock. 2 colors of sniper veil listed, only one still in stock, and that priced at $8.99.
Most colors were sold out in the first hour I’m sorry you missed it

For the ladies: tie diagonally opposite corners behind your neck and the other two corners behind your back for a quick halter top.
Thanks Dave
You should put a link to your website in the notes. I don't know where your website is to purchase one of these.
Dates? Doesn’t show on sale. Posted last week? Did I miss it?😢
Eastern time for the sale?

Dave is losing some weight and it's not just that former Corporal guy. LOL 😝...lookin' good sir!
Worked overnights for years and this was a cheaper option to blackout curtains
It's become my blankie

Do you know if and when the earth brown pathfinder jungle hammocks are going to be back in stock
I've seen them with a catchy little phrase on them about a river and a sea.
Hopefully, those spontaneously combust.
But, yours look great!
Great video dave! I will be getting me one Friday for sure 🤙🏻
Plus, they're high speed, low drag! 😁 Love the channel Dave! OG subscriber...
Great video Dave!
Idea for date on tent pole availability again?
Nice scarf. Thank you.
Why can’t we find a larger bandana, or all-cotton wild rag cowboys wear that’s usually silk? Can’t you make one, Dave?
Great video as always.
A link to your site would be nice

I am trying to purchase a Shemagh, but I do not know how to do it. There are no instructions on how to do it.
I hate blow up pillows. But I still use them. Wrapping the Shemogh around it makes it far more comfortable.
Your awesome and awesome video be safe out there big fan 😎👍🙏
How many should one carry? I currently own four (4) of the cotton type.
A net is like a machete; Two of the most underrated pieces of gear for the woods.
I've lost count of how many survival shows I've seen where a simple net would've fed them on the spot.
Does a shmaiugh unravel when you cut it? Any can u just fix a cut edge by burning it?
awesome thanks very much 👍👍 I'll take 2 of each type
Self defense. A nice round stone, wrap, tie down with a bit of paracord, makes for a nice, flailing, improvised opinion enhancer 😅
I’m concerned with the quality of some of the shemaghs I’ve gotten in the past. Maybe you can clarify since you have a lot more experience but should they be so thing you can see through them? Just seems wrong but I can’t find any that aren’t like that.
