- So yeah, Season 2 Episode 6 of House of The Dragon. This episode offers a lot of my favorite traits of a Game of Thrones episode, but nothing is perfect. Now, don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of compliments for this episode, but there’s also a couple critiques, I also have some questions, and then we have the last few minutes of this episode that I think will make or break the episode for fans, depending on how you view it, and I can’t wait to share with you my thoughts on the ending of this episode and everything that came before it right now -

Wish the seasons were longer so the characters could get more fleshed out with great political scheming and plots.
Ppl call this filler but thought last week was okay?? Sure
Both episodes were good just nonsense ending in 6
Alyssa is hot. That’s the reason.
Not seeing Aegon or Otto move the plot forward really affected the pacing. Those two keep things moving lightning quick while still not wasting a single second of screen time. I thought Larys displaying some sort of sympathy towards Aegon and helping him sharpen up was the best scene in the entire episode. Both actors knocked it out of the park. I’ve never seen Larys at a loss for words, stumble over his own words, or repeat himself but it seems he was visibly shaken while looking at Aegon.
A man who burned his brother and father alive? I don't think that little pep talk Larys gave Aegon was sympathy, rather it was more, as you say to get him to sharpen up. I like how you phrased that. When Aegon rules again, Larys will again be the Hand and back in power to influence policy. Right now he is ridiculed by Aemond and treated like bubble gum on Aemond's shoe.
The kiss wasn't improvised, it was in the script. Emma D'Arcy improvised the hug leading into the kiss, which is a good choice in my opinion
This episode was far better than episode 5
The thing is though Aemond is running the council like a military strategist instead of a dictator because him and Cole r the only ones on this council that has been to war. Aemond plan is very strategic, he is confronting daemon on harrenhall and forcing to him to fight on two different attacks one from Lannister army and one from Cole army with aemond behind him.
He is also making a case to destroy the blockade by getting the triarchy to attack. If the triarchy succeed n betray aemond his other fleet of the lannisters will have time enough to destroy the triarchy, if the triarchy fails however they weaken the blockade of rhaenyra.
Another moment that I like is the goodbye to Alicent and Criston it says a lot without saying nothing. The way they both look at each or glance at each when the others back is turned says a lot about their relationship. Definitely a well built up episode but my major problem is rhaenyra with the white worm……. After a serious conversation of forced incest n forced pregnancy they decide to kiss? What?
Good review and good episode.
Funny enough if he didn’t burn his own brother, him or Aegon on Sunfyre could have burned the blockade like Aegon was planning on doing without the need of inviting enemies to fight on your lands
When has AEMOND been to war 😅 Cole is at least a decade or 2 older than him. As far as we know, he’s just been to Rook’s Rest
@@Porcelynnn out of all the green council Aemond n cole r the only ones that have seen battle. Cole has won 4 battles so far n Aemond has killed 2 dragons.
Cole fought in the dornish marshes that’s y he was picked by Rhaenyra because he is one of the few knights in that time period that have been in combat.
@@jjosifovic Rook's Rest was Aemond's first actual battle, unless you count him allowing his dragon to chomp a much smaller dragon, once. Vhagar is the one in that pair with battle experience, not Aemond.
@@thing_under_the_stairs I still stand by statement since aemond and criston plan worked and they eliminated rhaenyra strongest supporter in rhaenys and eliminated a great dragon. They took over the crownlands and they are the only ones on that council that has seen war and are participating in it. While u r correct this is aemond first battle and his dragon has the experience u can use say the same with rhaenys since this is her first battle with an experience dragon.
We live in tiktok generation where people want everything quick. People want the next red wedding while forgetting that red wedding has four years worth of build up.
Not 4 years, it was almost 3.
I really wish they didn’t add the kiss between Rhaenyra & Mysaria 🙄. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes b/c of course Hollywood has to make a casual alliance into something sexual.
Right. It came out of nowhere and didn't make sense.
100%. Forced af and just more promotion of the message 🙄
Of course you get Great leadership & Respect from smacking and making out with your most trusted advisors.
I kind of dig it actually
@@dnysgrl22 What message, exactly?
See.... I don't see the kiss that way at all. I see it as purely organic. Rhaenera was just talking about wanting to be a man. So, what does she think men do? Battle (picking up the sword) and lust. Also the cherry on top is Mysaria is Daemon's ex lover, so she is in a sense, trying to become Daemon, just as her dialogue insinuates.
I’m looking forward to see what Larys and Aegon will be planning together.
My guess is that they will sabotage Aemond’s regime that led Aemond to make a drastic measure like burning Riverlands to prop up Rhaenyra as a hero for some time, then radicalize the small folks against Rhaenyra by making her tax policy more draconian than what it actually is to make Aegon the true hero who arrives after Rhaenyra has been dealt with.
Which is quite similar to Illyrio and Varys’ original plan for Viserys, Daenerys and Faegon.
Great ideas but I could barely hear anything due to the music. I only finished the video because you have great insight. Got yourself a new subscriber 😊
Thanks for pointing that out. Nobody has said anything. Music definitely needs dialed back. Thank you
II feel the sense of exhaustion with the Team Black characters between Daemon at Harrenhal, Jace and Rhaenyra feeling passive and the Velaryons continued toothlessness. The Blacks are clearly painted as protagonists and are the main appeal to most people.
I hope Rhaenyra listening to Mysaria more than her own son (Jace) in the future episodes will be portrayed as a bad thing, not a good one.
Because Robb Stark was killed for making so much less mistakes than her.
I feel Mysaria is in it for herself and hope Rhaenyra realizes she isn't completely to be trusted.
*Fewer*
Robb Stark was killed for making far FEWER mistakes than her.
@@nunliski It is for sure in there already. I just try to ignore it and enjoy the parts that seem true to the storyline.
The kiss scene is really bad for one reason
SPOILERS
Since there will be no Nettles i can see them do Daemon dirty by turning him into a b*tch, how? Well if there is no Nettles there is no jealous Rhaenyra therefore they will need to find another way for the Daemon Aemond duel to happen, what comes to my mind is Daemon will find out about Mysaria and Rhaenyra and decide to go on a quest to prove his love or some retarded shit like that.
I've overlook many changes but if they turn Daemon into a pussy HOTD is trash
even worse, in their continuous attempts to make rhaenyra seem righteous at all times, they'll demonize Rhaena and make her do something that "forces" Rhaenyra to have a problem with her. Mind you, she attacked Nettles out of jealousy and hate and the themes were even classism and racism. Nettles and Rhaena are both innocent characters yet now Rhaena will be vilified by this show and really Daemon is probably about to go down as the worst-adapted character of all time.
Showrunner: may i be free for one hour with the refrain of Nettles Nettles Nettles
No nettles, red flag
I wasn't fond of the kiss. I thought the hug was a great moment of female solidarity (although it isn't clear to me whether Mysaria was telling the truth or just saying something she thought would get her sympathy) where we were invited to think about what a female ruler could do for the injustice that befalls mainly women, children and other powerless types in the realm. And then, no, they just fancy each other. Felt like a let down.
Because dragon seed in the books is 6 months long then battle of the gullet.
It’s dragging man. How many seasons do you expect them to squeeze out of fire and blood? Still need most of the dragon riders, still need almost every major battle. Season 2 only 2 episodes left. If season 3 doesn’t pick up the pace, it’ll be obvious they’re going to stretch this thing to death.
Jasper Wild is base af 😂😂😂
Captain Stay Out The Way
This is the last episode I’m watching. No Nettles casting news yet the show wants to focus on smallfolk and misogyny. Very laughable and ridiculous to me. This also just tells me Daemon won’t get his much needed arc and redemption. Not to mention Rhaena’s character and symbolism at the end of the dance is getting ruined.
What is Rheana’s symbolism?
Surprised you didn’t throw in the “lazy writing” part in here too while you were at it.
flawed but still great? naaaaah flawed = bs worst episode yet
The only people who think that this episode was bad, are the unwashed masses who just want to see dragons and do no care about character development. They are the same people who watched game of thrones in bars.
Love the vids my man, helps feed my HOTD fixation just right🫡
Thanks!
