To correct this video, the current Frito Lay executives were asked about the story and they were not able to clearly deny the janitor story. They actually came and said that the guy claiming to be a janitor was in fact crucial to the development of hot Cheetos but did not go far enough to say that he created it. They also confirmed he was a janitor who eventually moved up the company. To say this story is a scam based off the Los Angeles time is funny, when there has been numerous other stories saying the opposite. Even so management at Frito lags have said their is truth to it.

i remember when flaming hot cheetos came out in the early 90s. they were first marketed to mexicans during the first trial run. at that time, there was no other group in the US that would eat there snacks with hot sauce or hot spices (even our candy & alcolic drinks were/are spicy) & drowning our chips/snacks with hot sauce & lemon juice has been a staple in our diet for centuries. richard is either the creator or at least an adviser to flaming hot cheetos. he would not have climbed up the corporate ladder by just working on the factory floor, he would have needed great ideas for the company to move as high as he did. to make a mexican snack (flaming hot) their had to be some sort of mexican input especially in those times.

Like his wife said in the movie people didn’t know what to do with a cholo Mexican from a little city as the founder of a billion dollar brand and a pioneer in how spicy seasonings are incorporated in todays snacks, people obviously still don’t know how to process it today🙄🤷🏽‍♂️ I guarantee if it was a white man’s story people would have no problem letting that guy keep that title🤦🏽‍♂️ 30 years later people still want to bring down this beautiful story, be fucking real. I’m tired of the disrespect we get as Hispanics , give us our damn respect!💯

Give you your respect? There’s VERY little evidence he made it. Show me some please. “give us our respect!” You didn’t do anything do deserve my respect. And if you think you deserve someone’s respect just because you ain’t white, you ain’t right.

They do explain that in the movie because they didn’t go with the supposedly recipe so they did give credit to the developers kinda hinting it wasn’t him or it was.?

The real inventor of Flamin Hot Cheetos is actually a white woman named Lynne Greenfield, on the suggestion of a Frito Lays salesperson(based in Chicago) named Fred Lindsey. She worked as the head of the development team that invented flamin hot cheetos back in 1990-91.
So yeah, just like the late wrestler Eddie Guerrero, Richard Montanez LIED, CHEATED, and STOLE the idea of "inventing flamin hot cheetos" lol.
Though to be fair, Richard did apparently invent Flamin Hot popcorn in 1993.
