Make your art [STAND OUT]

  • Let's talk about making your characters POP! Professional artists have learned the secret to making almost any piece look, and that is...
drum roll SILHOUETTES! Or a better way to put it, making the characters in your artwork stand out from the background AND foreground with the help of edges and value control. Let me know if you'd like to see more of these art tutorials for beginners where we just discuss a broad art topic like "values" because most of my art tutorials are "how to draw" videos. I kind of like making these time lapse ones where I walk you through a concept.

Honestly love your videos man, what size canvas do you recommend using for digital painting

Thanks! And nothing wrong with a good 1920x1080 at 72 "resolution".
I personally put my standard canvas at 16x9 inches at 300 res though, but that's big

Ah I see, Awesome thankyou for the insight. I was painting and drawing on to small of a canvas. Like I would have to shrink my brush size to 3 for details so I'll take your advice onboard 👍

Wait this isn't grass? This is good tough I was going to ask if we will be receiving other tutorials such as lighting value perspective etc. I guess this answers that, thank you.

I know lol I'M SORRY! I was planning on releasing the grass one but I had this idea in my head and thought of a great way to discuss it and didn't want to lose the idea, so I pushed the grass back to wednesday.

Is this more art for GAU? (Gammatrap Artistic Universe) or is it a commission?

When I see the how many different iterations of the vision for this piece there was, it seems kinda sad that they just get drawn over and never finished. I was actually really wanting to see the end result of the knight with arrows in him.

Oh well there's no rules saying I can't make another one :) or YOU (if you wanted to) could. That'd be cool

@@Gammatrap it would be awesome if I was skilled enough to. Best I can draw is stick figures. Any time I try to draw something more detailed proportions just come out all warped and it’s just terrible.

Best of luck! If there's a background, then just keep that silhouette interesting.

Hi Gammatrap , I love your tutorials :) can you merge all the stylize mini tutorials(like the grass one, treasure box, e.t.c) into one whole concept art so we can know how to use them in the scenery.

Hey man what’s up. So I have an issue, I feel like I overdo my pieces. They end up looking weird, too realistic, and not at all stylized. Do you have any recommendations on tutorials to learn stylized brush strokes and lighting?

    • @Gammatrap
      @Gammatrap  3 года назад +1

I'd suggest to just focus on big shapes and set a time limit for yourself. That tends to work for a lot of people in the start

Thank you for this explanation! I was earsing the whole background of my artpiece the other day, not knowing why I didn't like it. Now I realised that it was just too bright and caught too much of the attention from the character 😅

I really liked this video. I've finally gotten time to retune to do some art but need a bit of a warm up. Really enjoyed watching this. Hopefully my next art piece does well after learning this.
