I don't know, I see if as a good thing You can do a few things. Potentiality leave things directly to family, in which case they'll probably take some of the highest- value items, and then go through the rest of the belongings in a similar way strangers would, just going through the rest of it and trying to decide what to throw away. You could donate things to specific people or charities. Or, your things could go to An estate sale. Worst case scenario though , your things would sit there, abandoned. Not for sale or anything. Gathering dust And falling apart over the years. For me, that would be the worst case. I'd much rather have strangers trying to buy some of the better, more useful things to help them in some way, rather than have the stuff go to waste
That's how you can tell strangers your story. Some people benefit their family by leaving stuff to sell. Death comes to all. We don't need stuff on the other side.
Oh don’t remind me. I’ve been thrifting antique hunting for 30 yrs and the last two months I’ve been wanting to declutter but I can’t get motivated to start . You end up with more of a mess before it becomes cleaner.😳😳😳
I went to this sale on day 1 and the last day, two hours before closing. The amount of stuff that was not purchased due to extremely high prices was ridiculous. If I were the family I would be very upset with the amount of stuff left. I purchased 11 items from my two trips though. I tried to negotiate on some silver pieces at the check out table but they wouldn’t budge. My prize was the turkey plate by Blue Ridge Potteries!!! I purchased two of the large David Winter houses as well. The Japanese fur with the broach!!!! Omg someone actually purchased it! It was stunning!
I live estate sales. Amazing finds, unique and beautiful. San Antonio,Texas is full of many retired Military personnel who have traveled all over the world and collected a lifetime of unique items.
It’s the greed of the estate company. The family took what they wanted prior to the sale. I would be very upset if after a 4 day sale half the house contents had not been sold. I went on day 1 and the last day 2 hours before closing.
Among the many reasons I watch your videos is your genuine reactions to things. For example...the sailboat art. When you said, I love these...I have never been on a sailboat, I don't have a sailboat...I just lol. Your reactions are so true to form for you and that's why we love you.
Remember this is an estate sale. Not the regular good will, good will bins, or any other thrift store. So be prepared to spend a little. And if things are “too high” come on the half priced days. Good video, enjoy seeing what other people collect!
I enjoy your videos so much. Liked your books alot, but I just cant wrap my head around your love for old grungy paintbrushes, lol but I always like your reaction when you find them. You’re just fun Julie! ❤
The board with the holes is to put your hot casserole dish in and put the pegs around the dish so it won’t fall off, I have one and I love it for taking someplace
This gave me nightmares of my parents' place. It's not nearly so big, but every time I turned around there was another drawer or closet or cabinet of stuff.
That's what estate sales are like where I live. Hundreds of dollars for anything. They ebay price check first, plus Tax. I'm just in a little Canadian town, not fancy at all.
I am lucky..three to five estate sales every weekend and by Saturday a lot of the people just want to sell stuff and the prices are way less than rummage sales ❤❤❤
That house was a very large estate home! From what little I saw of the inside it was beautiful! Lots of awesome goodies but I couldn't afford anything there. Thanks for taking us along!
Hi! The little house`s Are David Winter from England, hand painted and very collectible in the late 70`s We sold a lot of them at the gift shop "Harry´s" in Germany.
I like that color of pale green too. Unless I were to resell this stuff I wouldn’t want to take it home. It’s just too much, but it looks like fun to do this.
Do you know anything about the couple who live or lived there? They were massive collectors. The stack of handled copper pieces are for melting butter. It can be easily poured with the spout. The scallop shells are used as dishes to bake and serve seafood.
This was a fun adventure! I love sailboat, nautical textiles, art, etc. What an amazing house, workshop, library!! What an amazing art collection! I love brushes, also, and have a small collection! Industrial finds are my favorite!
Love the scale. It is really fun to shop along with you. Even though you didn’t get them, I loved those seashells. Those are so hard to come by flat and beautiful like that. I create beachy pieces of art and decor and sell them at a shop in the town where I live. So it’s always fun to see all of the things that you film even if you don’t buy them I really enjoy it. Thank you for the fun video and I can’t wait for the next.
those bent wood tubular leg dining chairs in the formal living room are called ant chairs and go for $120 each in some places! Very MCM ! The aqua colored sewing machine upstairs is probably better than new machines and is circa 1950-60s about 120 in my area ! They over charged for that rug in the attic ! this is a upper mid tier estate sale.
I've seen some gorgeous furniture at these type sales. My problem was getting the furniture from point A to B especially large or heavy pieces and that can get expensive.
That was fun! I didn’t know you had this channel until 12 minutes ago! I’ve subscribed, I can’t get enough of you Julie! You have such a great vision for what you can do with all the treasures you find! Greetings 🇨🇦
I love the green books, you picked up, I watched a different video on the color green and how they use to make the color green with arsenic, and if you buy vi tigre en books, you need to handle them with gloves, as they might contain arsenic😬
Arsenic was used as a dye for both clothing and books in the mid- 1800's. Only a fraction of green books used this dye. If the book is less than about 150 years old, it's fine. The practice was stopped entirely by 1880.
Wow what big house. And expensive. You chose wisely. I loved those large shells you saw when you went out back. I didn't catch what price they were. Thank you for taking us.
Julie I love estate sales and like you I always find a few things I like and can afford. I don’t resell, so I have to be careful so I don’t get too much. I dint want to end up on the hoarders show. 😂 I am very seasonal, so things go in the attic or garage and come out when it is time..lol ❤❤❤ I love the blue book . I I have two sets of scales like that and than the big ones that are like the ones in grocery stores but ours is rusty crusty…just like you like and us too. ❤❤❤
When I was a little girl my grandma had this old bag full of marbles some more homemade out of clay. They belonged to her two sons that passed 12yrs and almost 4yrs. She passed in 1985 at 83yrs old. I'd love to know what happened to them! Love that rug at the top of the landing❤.. but those are ridiculous prices😳 The home itself is amazing, inside & out! The work shop is the best room lol. I Finally found my first big rusty paint brush!!😊 Still looking for an old scale. You did find some great pieces!
When scanning a room for the overall effect, like the workshop at 9:54 it's important for the viewers eyesight to go s l o w l y. Yes it feels too slow for the person holding the camera but it's not. My brother did that for a while, zooming, giving us 'whiplash'. He was surprised. He didn't feel like he was doing it so fast. It takes practice.
Sorry, but as a person who not only loves antiques and history but has used beautiful china every day of my life [ mostly from charity/junk shops/car boot sales ] I can tell you that the different size teapots are simply for use depending on your number of guests. A hot water pot is usually made of silver. [ I have one, discovered in a box of junk thrown out ].
Becareful of the green old books they may have arsenic in them I seen something on line about it they used arsenic to make the green color years ago...they said not to handle them unless you have gloves on...
It sounds as if the prices were eye-watering to you, which means they are all probably over-inflated, but initially I thought that maybe it was just that from country to country, things vary substantially in value. Cute though that scale which you bought for $12 was, I think you'd pick that up for a couple of pounds in UK. Occasionally I saw a price that reflected the same kind of value as here, like the rug for $1200 which seemed to be silk and hand woven. But really all came into perspective for me when I saw that they were even trying to sell their half-burned candles. At that point I think I'd have been fleeing down the driveway back to the real world. Really cute and well loved house though. It was cosy and charming.
My son and I almost went to this sale. He was interested in the cars. Those prices are out of my range as well. Would have loved just to see the house. We live in Dyersburg and don't go to Memphis much anymore.
I agree with the comments that some things are over priced, but the Tabriz Persion rug if purchased in a store would likely be over $5000. It’s an heirloom rug that you could have for a lifetime (and it would have a greater longevity and be cheaper in the long run than buying multiple cheaper rugs).

Estate sales never fail to make me sad. I hope I can get rid of my stuff before I die so people won’t pick through my life.
I don't know, I see if as a good thing

I was coming to say the same thing.
My mother used to collect The Readers Digest books.
Read "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning"
That's how you can tell strangers your story. Some people benefit their family by leaving stuff to sell. Death comes to all. We don't need stuff on the other side.
Best promotion for decluttering
Oh don’t remind me. I’ve been thrifting antique hunting for 30 yrs and the last two months I’ve been wanting to declutter but I can’t get motivated to start . You end up with more of a mess before it becomes cleaner.😳😳😳
All that stuff was making me hyperventilate.
@bari2883 I feel the exact same way that you do! You're not alone in this.
Holy moly! Those prices!
I was thinking the same.
I KNOW - absolute insanity. That was the first thing I thought. And it is not just 1 or 2 things, it is everything!

They collected so much stuff, my goodness - it's overwhelming! 😳
I live estate sales.
Amazing finds, unique and beautiful.

"Maybe the garage has things we can afford" as you walk upon 2 vintage cars!🤣
IKR! 😂
The board with holes should have pegs to secure your casserole dish no matter the size😊
Yes!! Thank you!!
That's interesting.
Persian rugs are handmade and expensive for good reason but they were charging almost full retail.
Don’t step on this $1,200 rug…oo look at this box! So relateable! 😂 I loved that part so much
Wow! They were really proud of their stuff!💰💸💰
It’s the greed of the estate company. The family took what they wanted prior to the sale. I would be very upset if after a 4 day sale half the house contents had not been sold. I went on day 1 and the last day 2 hours before closing.
@@lorirock2630,
A lot of them don't even give away what they don't sell. They throw it out!
Can’t believe the high prices
Probably should see the original prices
Among the many reasons I watch your videos is your genuine reactions to things. For example...the sailboat art. When you said, I love these...I have never been on a sailboat, I don't have a sailboat...I just lol. Your reactions are so true to form for you and that's why we love you.

Good LAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Beautiful rugs but DANG girl those prices
Remember this is an estate sale. Not the regular good will, good will bins, or any other thrift store. So be prepared to spend a little. And if things are “too high” come on the half priced days. Good video, enjoy seeing what other people collect!
You found lovely things even though there weren't very many. The scale is a real score
I enjoy your videos so much. Liked your books alot, but I just cant wrap my head around your love for old grungy paintbrushes, lol but I always like your reaction when you find them. You’re just fun Julie! ❤

I love estate sales but they do remind me not to acquire junk because it’s just going to wind up in a garage sale or junk yard eventually.
That's what estate sales are like where I live. Hundreds of dollars for anything. They ebay price check first, plus Tax. I'm just in a little Canadian town, not fancy at all.

THAT IS A LONG WALK.
Elegant home and absolutely great items.
The marble collection is amazing.

What an amazing house. Thanks for sharing it. That train room was so interesting and they had beautiful pieces of furniture and artwork.
I love alot of the dishes how ever the prices of that stuff was outrageous
This was a fun adventure! I love sailboat, nautical textiles, art, etc. What an amazing house, workshop, library!! What an amazing art collection! I love brushes, also, and have a small collection! Industrial finds are my favorite!
Ooh I need to go to more estate sales. Not that I'm going to buy anything, I just like to look at other people's stuff.

The Jalna books are great reading. Try to get the whole series!
I just love all the southwestern rugs! Beautiful 🤩
Hi Julie! Love everything you found but my favorite is the scale!😍
LOVED the gasp when you saw the paint brushes! I too get excited about other folks junk. Julie, you've got me going to estate sales! 🤦🏽❣️
Love the little duck 😊
LOVE the Green Scale... Great buy for $12 dollars.
Great estate sale.. the menfolk will LOVE that train set.omg
Love the scale, great find and the green books are an awesome color ❤
I've seen some gorgeous furniture at these type sales. My problem was getting the furniture from point A to B especially large or heavy pieces and that can get expensive.

What a great house I spoke out loud when I saw the cars!!
The silver was very cool i would have bought n all those candles
OMG the scales you found were so cool!!!
That was a huge and beautiful house.😮 Wow
Loved the old paint brushes!
I never go to estate sales where I live. They are always way overpriced.
Little duckie is precious!
Ok, Julie, you must go sailing...and take us along!😊
That was a fun sale!
Loved the green books but the little duck was awesome ❤❤❤
Must’ve taken years and years and years to collect and complete and to maintain. So amazing.
Love the scale and the green books.
It may have been expensive, but you did get some nice things and it was fun seeing the house itself.
I love the green books, you picked up, I watched a different video on the color green and how they use to make the color green with arsenic, and if you buy vi tigre en books, you need to handle them with gloves, as they might contain arsenic😬
So glad you told people about this!
Arsenic was used as a dye for both clothing and books in the mid- 1800's. Only a fraction of green books used this dye. If the book is less than about 150 years old, it's fine. The practice was stopped entirely by 1880.
I would have grabbed the tart tins next to the white ironstone dish stack at 1:47.
Greedy estate sale planners do not realize if they would come down on their prices they would sell way more item. They want top dollar for junk.
Wow what big house. And expensive. You chose wisely. I loved those large shells you saw when you went out back. I didn't catch what price they were. Thank you for taking us.
I love the scale and the books.
Wow! Those prices. But I agree with you, it's just fun to look. But you got a few good things. The books are my favorites
Julie I love estate sales and like you I always find a few things I like and can afford. I don’t resell, so I have to be careful so I don’t get too much. Whoever is the dealer, their pricing is absolutely greedy and outrageous. More expensive than the antique shops in California.
Very nice sale, same whinning complaints. Proves there is someone to buy the junk.
The tray with all the holes ,would be a great bathtub tray!!!
The scales was my favorite
You were so smart to check out the workshop. You never know what was put in there

I am from the uk and the two teapots one would hold the tea and I think the other one would hold hot water to top up the teapot ❤️

@@verenamaharajah6082 have been thinking about it and I think you are right thanks for the reply ❤️
The houses look like David Winter Cottages from England. They are made from a carved mould and hand painted. They only make so many of each one.
Becareful of the green old books they may have arsenic in them I seen something on line about it they used arsenic to make the green color years ago...they said not to handle them unless you have gloves on...

You and Max need to buy this beautiful old house!!!
There’s all the marbles I’ve lost!
Julie a fan from Ireland. I love your flips ❤
Beautiful home but I'm not sure about their pricing. Always enjoy your adventures, no matter where they are!
Whoa!!! Those prices are ridiculously high! Nice haul…
Wow Such A beautiful House
Some of those items were way overpriced for what they were. the chair was underpriced - strange! You did well with what you bought though :-)
I love the china cabinet
I agree, I would have jumped on that. Even at 750$ that was actually a bargain compared to everything else..gorgeous!
My son and I almost went to this sale. He was interested in the cars. Those prices are out of my range as well. Would have loved just to see the house. We live in Dyersburg and don't go to Memphis much anymore.
I loved the copper pieces! 😂
Omg that house so good
that state sale is for people who has a compulsion to spend on used item. nothing was cheap
Love the glass duck head! Everything in that sale was very overpriced!
I go to estate sales all the time, those prices are insane.
Overpriced on everything! I would have not bothered.
That is one tag sale that is actually an ESTATE sale. Those people had money, taste and style!
I agree with the comments that some things are over priced, but the Tabriz Persion rug if purchased in a store would likely be over $5000. Tray with holes was for casserole dishes.
By the price of things, this looks to be run by an estate sale company. All I can say is WOW.
The reason why green books are hard to find was because the dye they used to color the outside of the green book had arsenic.
What happens if they don’t sell the contents?
Bit over priced for someone junk
Very nice items there.
The two teapots. One is for the tea and one for hot water.
Estate sales that are priced that high are such a let down.
Great house but very expensive. Can't fathom why you'd buy books for their colour and not for what's written in them though. That's a joke, right?
I never realized people would buy books just for the color of the cover.
I would have purchased a lot at that sale!
That bevelled glass bureau is a bargain !
Crazy prices!
