@Ezra0994 I mean that was only a year after Helen passed, but at the end of the day, I don't know him so there is no judgement from my end. It must have been so hard on him and their kids.
@@Imreallyboredsickyou sound judgy after trying to explain you’re not judgy. 14 months is plenty for someone who lost his wife to cancer and watched her slowly decline. No need for us to evaluate the situation as outsiders.
Lost my wife on the 5th of may out of the blue, it’s been the most difficult time of my life, she was only 38, knowing he’s been through the same thing and come out the other side still going is truly amazing to me 👍
My sincere condolences on your loss 💐 I don’t think we see everything that one is going through, some are able to present better than others. For some that (work) may be an escape from their suffering.
Hey - sending you warmth, over there. Remember: grief comes in waves, and they don't go away, but they do get easier to surf over time. You're doing your wife a service carrying on her memory and finding peace. You'll come through it, too. One internet stranger to another, wishing you the best.
Yeah, that show was great. I'd loved it and still do. (Bought it on little silvery discs as we did in those days... and the folding knife he uses to cut the plums (Spyderco Police Serrated)) "Band of Brothers" was a treat but "Life" hit me harder. That was a really nice "Dish" episode. But to short...
Holy Smokes! The only other Dish podcast I ever clicked this fast on was with Josh Homme (ok ok, yes, I have a thing for the Gingers 🤭). Love this! He’s such a great actor. ❤
Love, love, loved this episode. As ever Ange and Grimmy were the perfect hosts to their exceptional guest, Damien Lewis, not to be confused with Daniel Day 🤣. Brilliant just brilliant.
I absolutely love how they have the most fab guests on! It’s never a really bland celebrity that’s just promoting a movie or something. Damien is so likeable and charismatic (and really hot 🥵)
Lovely to see Angela align with Waitrose but put her own spin on it. It gives the watching audience the permission, if you will, to make the dish their own. Very nice toppings, too!
30 mins flew by, could be 45 mins episodes with 2 courses every time? And a few questions about Billions wouldn't have gona amiss. Brilliant as usual though, and love Ange getting the guest in the kitchen again, although missing the Ange cam!
One of my all time favourite actors going back many many years. I also loved his wife Helen McRory as an actor for many many years and was shocked to discover quite late in the day that they were married. Obviously I’m not big on tracking actors’ social lives. I was so sorry to hear of her passing and for all of the family dealing with the loss. I must say, this was a delight to watch and also to discover that Damien is quite funny!
@@Imreallyboredsick Actuality, it’s McCrory. Just had eye surgery and hard to see so did not notice the typo.i ’m typing on my keyboard by hand placement and obviously making some errors. Perhaps you did the same, which would be quite comical.

I was having dinner at The Devonshire a few months back and he was two tables down. I am 52 and was pathetically thrilled to see him there. He's done so much but Band of Brothers will always be a seminal performance for me. Ps if he likes negroni's and bourbon give the man a boulevardier!!
Discovered Damian Lewis in 2002 PBS Forsyte Saga as Soames Forsyte. Have followed his every performance I've had access to. Wish I had opportunity to attend his concerts. ❤❤❤
aha! I knew I've seen Angela somewhere... I remember her now from a segment on Gordon Ramsay and they interviewed her as she was managing one of his restaurants at the time. Was watching Band of Brother clips and saw this video in related list
Loved this episode, and I made the recipe on the website tonight (using a waitrose pumpkin!) but it was a bit flavourless. Ange says she uses a bit of sage in hers, which I really think could help, but from what I can tell from the video, it's just in the topping? I don't know why my risotto was lacking so much favour? I must say, the roasted seeds and kale were delicious, and I also shredded and roasted the pumpkin skin with it too. But I felt like that carried the whole dish. I am keeping the leftovers to make arachini though.
I’ve always known he was British by birth, but I feel Damian’s normal speaking voice is like a guy putting on a fake British accent. All kidding aside, he’s definitely one of my favorite actors.
Has Nick Grimshaw cut up one of his jumpers and stuck bits on to his jacket? I think I recognise the material. If I'm right I've clearly binge watched these podcasts way too many times LOL! Love Nick and Angela together, please keep going :))
Please, please take note people that risotto is not supposed to be like mashed potatoes in a bowl! It should be creamy and if you tilt your bowl it should flow to one side.
Angela, you have inspired me to make this risotto to woo my boyfriend who normally cooks for me. Would you please tell us more about the crunchy topping for the risotto? It doesn’t seem to be the same as what is in the online recipe. 🤨
I'm not sure what it is here but if it helps some crispy kale or calva Nero cabbage is lovely on top, coat in oil and roast till crispy. I'm a chef and this is what I use at work if I'm making something similar.
His portrayal of Capt. Dick Winters in Band of Brothers is still one of the best biographical performances ever.❤
💯👌🏻👍🏻etc.
It really is hard to top. Even the other veterans who served with the actual Winters said he nailed it. Can't get much realer than that
I agree totally
Love that he is happy after his wife's passing a few years ago. Good to see him so happy
The beautiful and very talented Helen McCrory
He's been in a relationship with singer Alison Mosshart since 2022.

He's genuinely a very nice man as well as a very good actor. It's easy to like and admire good people.😊
OK, can you tell me which guest Ange didn't love??
@Leo-wz4nh ofc, she wasn't so keen on Vanessa Williams or Katherine Ryan, it was quite obvious
One of the best episodes yet! He's a phenomenal actor & definitely someone id love to have a pint & a chin-wag with ❤
I love this podcast. Angela is so likeable as is Nick. They have a great natural rapport.
Arguably one of the most successful TV actors of our time. And the guy does not age

Damien Lewis is a national treasure
Watching Nick twirling his hair around his finger like that whilst talking to Damian... me thinks he was a bit smitten... adorbs.
What a legend! He’s been through a lot but still has such a great sense of humour 💛 Another great Dish episode!
Ange shooing him away with a compliment and immediately belting the risotto into shape, smiling all the while.
I love when guests are this charismatic
The first time I saw Damien Lewis was in an American show called Life. It was victim to the 2008 writer's strike. Really good show!
Totally agree! I really wish Charlie Crews got a longer storyline!

A bowl of autumnal risotto and a bowl of Damian Lewis. Dreamy 😍
His Soames Forsyte is still one of my top two favorite villain characters to this day.
I think his best performance for me! 🥰
Absolutely!! His performance still haunts me. Have watched the series 3 times, perfection.
