- Martin Freeman is a man of many genres and he has mastered most of them in his 27 year career. We first fell in love with him as Tim in The Office in 2001; he gained cult status as Dr Watson in Sherlock in 2010; and then hit the big time as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit in 2012. Martin won a BAFTA and an Emmy for Sherlock and last year scooped an International Emmy for his portrayal of Chris Carson in The Responder.
Tony Schumacher spent 12 years as a policeman in Liverpool before a period of poor mental health forced him to take stock. While on the road to healing, Tony tried his hand at stand-up comedy and, encouraged by his wife, decided to pursue his dream of becoming an author. Tony has written three novels and penned his critically-acclaimed BBC drama with Martin Freeman in mind.
Nick welcomes our guests with a negroni while Angela prepares the best bolognese by Martha Collison, a dish specially requested by Martin. The meal is paired with a Villa Antinori Rosso by the experts at Waitrose.

Cannot explain how happy I am that the full episodes are now hitting RUclips!
Fr
Me too!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
There are some available on the Waitrose channel.
Yes!
Me too 😁
One of the best interviews I’ve watched in such a longtime. It really reminded me of having dinner with close friends. Angela is a hero of mine, amazing interviewer who is humble and so talented. Grimmy’s years of experience just lets everyone shine.
Right! I love the format for this reason. It feels like a dinner party between friends, like you say.
I just realized that not only do we get to see our favorite artists and receive receipts, but we also learn geographic of how the food is made differently and the history of food. Love it. Thank you to both of you.
Episodes on RUclips make me so so happy .natural conversations and food ,drink .seriously good 👍.
This is my favorite show, I need more of it!!!! I need more content from my friends across the pond.
When she was saying it’s a southern thing , she was referring to the south of Italy, where as she said a lot of Italian immigrants to New York came from. But I know, I was confused for a moment too thinking she was saying NYC was in the south 😄
I eat the tortured remains of animals now because I was worried about processed food. Glad to have pork pies, scotch eggs, pancetta, and group 1 carcinogens back on my plate! Genius
Well said mate ruclips.net/video/KyvX_Qnk3D4/видео.html
He's really a bit thick isn't he 🤣🤣🤣
My thoughts too
Did you watch Earthling Ed's analysis of this podcast? Honestly, the podcast infuriated me. How insensitive and thick are these people?
I think it's just an excuse. His real reason is, he missed eating meat and didn't really give a fuck anymore. I'd respect him more if he'd said that. For full disclosure though I'm not a vegetarian or vegan either.
The only thing I hate about this is that it’s not 2 hours long 😭❤
The Negronis definitely fueled the conversation of the last three quarters of this episode 😝
They hardly drank any.
I freaking love this show! Thank you everyone for this wonderful thing. Love from Australia ❤
Hi, thanks soo much for putting theses up on RUclips! it's so great! Qq, any chance we can get a camera shot of the meals as they're being brought out or served? Would love a good look at the food! 😊
Isn’t the whole meal there (pasta, ground beef, pancetta, cheese) very processed food?
Just saying, if the idea is to eat less processed foods then maybe get some whole foods on the plate while talking about his issues with vegetarianism.
It’s also a very unhealthy meal there full of carcinogens and saturated fats.
Let’s all get healthier, better informed and more protective of our planet and life on it, not more ignorant.
There are lot of levels in food processing. Pickels are a processed food as is ground meat. But ground meat is just that, meat that has been put through a meat grinder. Compared to soy or oat based meat substitute which is heavily processed due to especially soy noy being that suitable for human digestion.
@@TwistedNerve1 ground meat is a category 1 carcinogen along with asbestos and tobacco. Soy is a bean and over 90% of soy is grown to feed farm animals. Only 6 to 10% is consumed by humans. Pickles are cucumbers but I’m not saying they’re a health food either.
Again, ground meat is a carcinogen. It increases your risk of cancer if you eat it.
@@TwistedNerve1ground meat is a known carcinogen. It is conclusive that it raises your risk of getting cancer if you eat it. I’m not saying eat processed meat substitutes(although they are much better than ground meat) I’m saying eat whole foods. Fruits and vegetables nuts and seeds.
But definitely do not eat things or feed your children things that we know cause cancer.
Great satire about hypocritical people justifying their immoral behavior: person eating processed meat explaining that he is worried about processed vegetarian food. 🤪And of course they all love animals as long they are cats or dogs . Just hilarious 🤣
He was saying that asa pescatarian he was eating too much meat-like food, which is ultra-processed. He was not able to get all the nutrients and then he chooses a more balanced diet. He never said that he's going to eat ONLY meat from now on.
@@benedettabergamo1972 Still: why is he substituting the „very processed meat alternatives“ with only very processed meat? 🤨
It just isn’t an argument. It’s an excuse because of taste over moral.
@@benedettabergamo1972talking about the health concerns of eating processed food while eating a pie with carcinogenic animal flesh is being a dumbass and a hypocrite
Can someone explain to me why they don’t upload the full version of all the episodes? If you are recording the whole thing anyway?
Being able to watch the entire episode like this is brilliant.
It’s strange huh? I checked the Waitrose YT channel and there was one full interview from memory.
Could be because they license out the full episodes to a cooking channel or the like… so can only show edited versions & short clips for promotion…
@@raqueldobson1I’ve never seen them on a cooking show I don’t believe that’s the case
@@harrietxo2310 - not in the UK…remember the production company owns the rights to licensing - there may be exclusive deals in place outside the UK/Ireland distribution, happens all the time…
I wonder if it's also because of the extra work to edit it?
ohh nick nearly said Costco! 🤣 Love these episdoes!!!!
Martin Freeman looks like a Ray Walston in my favorite Martian . Thank you for sharing
This was a delightful interview
Really??

Love these shows so much!!
My friend's father is from Tennessee (American South). He makes his spaghetti bolognese with 2 large tins tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 small can tomate paste, adding ground beef and or italian sausage, sautéed onions, garlic powder, dried Italian herb seasoning... 😊
Ah Martin just gets more handsome. I really like the beard
IKR he’s so fine
Will we get the full episodes of the other guests? Pretty please 🙏
THIS MADE MY STOMACH CHURN! THE VACUOUS COMMENTS!!!!
Absolutely cracker of an interview. So enjoyable but especially for me the discussion about the Scouse accent. I love understanding the complexity of the island because its regional accents are fascinating.
(Especially understanding the rigidity of the English class system and how it’s changed over time.)
I need full episode with Stanley Tucci, please 🥺🙏
I really do not listen to/watch many podcasts, but this one is fantastic! Thank you for uploading the complete versions. 😍
if you named the channel the same as the podcast it would make finding this a lot easier. No one knows who "S:E Creative Studio" is. Great show though!
Love you all from North Cal 🍷🍇
I love this podcast xxx
Brilliant! Love it.
Great show👏👏
ruclips.net/video/KyvX_Qnk3D4/видео.html
He is so. GOOD.
His justication for going back to eating meat is such a textbook cognitive dissonnance example.
I didn’t listen to the whole episode, what was his justification if you don’t mind?
This is a great podcast, and AN AMAZING SHOW! If these were released on BCC or something it would be appointment television.
Love this 👏🏻👏🏻
you should get Claudia Jessie from Bridgerton on your podcast! She loves food!(especially Bibimbab) it would be perfect
Martin Freeman is one of the sexiest actors alive.
Can’t see him the same after that movie
He’s tiny in real life

You were made to work together ❤️
Both funny and brilliant.
Got to admit, I'm more a watcher than a podder.
Without a doubt (and I'm poor) waitrose do the best meat anywhere.
Love a home delivery.
I look posh 😂🎉😂
Please don't stop.
Have you had Greg Davies on x?x
I love the fact that they know they can be blatent about being hypocrites because their audience would never realize 😂
When I stayed in England for a couple of months, I was so pleased as a vegetarian by how much more vegetarian friendly your restaurant menus are than they are here in Canada. However…I did get tempted by a sausage roll purchased at a market stall. It was delicious! 🤭 Never had another one though.
So let me get this straight: he was vegetarian for ethical reasons because he was never comfortable eating animals, but now he is ok being unethical? 🤦
He chose this lifestyle for 38 years. I doubt he is an hypocrite. He chose what was best for him and I don't understand why people care so much about his diet.
@@benedettabergamo1972 But isn’t it hypocritical to stop being vegetarian because of processed food while eating mostly (non vegetarian and some of it even carcinogenic) processed food?
@@UTubeLion He never said that he is going to eat only meat from now on and exclude vegetables, fruits, ecc. He wanted to bring more balance in his diet. Probably now he can adjust his diet better by excluding meat alternatives.
@@benedettabergamo1972 He probably also did not only eat processed meat alternatives, did he?
But now he is substituting it with processed meat. While saying things being processed is his problem.
It does t matter if he also does eat fruits. He probably did before as well. It’s just an excuse not an argument. And still hypocritical. Isn’t it?
@@benedettabergamo1972 justifying animal consumption because you want more balance is still immoral. It’s clear now that you don’t need meat or dairy to have a balanced diet, but unfortunately a lot of people don’t realise this.
As someone who’s on a extremely diet. I understand where they’re coming from with the simplicity in simple food/meals
Best thing ive ever eaten; a crisp sandwich made with cheap white bread 🥰
I watch this one for martin
i want james and ed on so badly
This Ed?

Being a good cook takes practice. Also being able to find all the ingredients and affording the ingredients to cook.

I need to try this food of the gods pork pie! Can someone ship one to the states please?
Sure
Wow Tony, you're such a sensitive guy who likes animal videos and cries when Spot loses his mummy in a fictional book.
Just after joking about how much you love to eat real animals who are stolen from their mummies at birth and murdered as babies. Such a nice, light-hearted podcast!
Wow a lot of triggered people in the comments 😂😂😂
Woman doing the cooking and cleaning plates in the background while they talk 😂 so old school 😂😂
they are so very funny
Have you ever watched the documentary Dominion 2018? Maybe have a look at that, it is not an easy watch, by the way, and then you will understand why there is nothing funny about that conversation.
Vegan and non-vegan food can be processed guys. The cognitive dissonance here is ridiculous. Do you even know how processed a scotch egg is? How can you go from laughing about eating meat to then crying over fictional animals.
Don’t listen to this guys. Go save the world.
I thought Nick said “Jew-o” at first!
Why doesn’t Angela cook her own recipes? Why is she always following other people’s recipes?
Because it's sponsored by Waitrose, so she probably follows a Waitrose recipe.
Belly laughs, bellies full
It was genuinely disappointing to hear him say this.
What a sad case. After all that time and now extolling death. I mean it's his choice entirely but why be so gluttonously proud of yourself? I suppose people change their principles .
The fact that he's so insanely defensive about it out of the blue shows that he is actually not proud but insanely self concious and that he's very well aware how cruel his choices were
Today's Sunnday, today's Sunnday, sunday is roast a beef is everybody happy? You bet your life we are. Today's Monday, Today's Monday, Mondays s washing day is everybody happy? You bet you're life we are. Today's Tuesday, Tuesday is soup is everybody happy? You bet your life you are.... etc etc
What a sellout by Schumacher. There isn't a Waitrose in Liverpool
He says "I don't want to eat processed food" while eating a meal full of processed cheese and meat products. And then talking about eating ultra processed food such as pork pies. He never cared about the animals. The irony and cringe is overbearing.
If he never cared about animals, why did he abstain from eating meat for 38 years? It doesn't make sense. At best, we can say he changed his mind about the matter or he had other reasons to give up.
@@benedettabergamo1972 because he was pretty much eating fish the whole time, which is an animal
YOU use the word overbearing at the end of that rabid response!? 😂😂😂
It’s like someone being accused of slouching by the hunchback of notre dame.
FUCK ME, this is genuinely the most cognitive dissonance and disconnect I have ever seen in my life. A pork pie is one the most heavily processed and unhealthy 'foods' you can get your hands on...someone please show these melons what happens in a slaughterhouse.
It's so disappointing to hear somebody as likeable and well-known as Freeman talk such nonsense.
Also reminds me of Bill Hicks. Freeman is so famous, he probably has accumulated more than enough wealth by now. Yet, he participates in this overly long commercial?! "Off the artistic role call forever!"
The hypocrisy and ignorance on display here from all 4 corners of that table is astounding. The strawman justifications for eating unethical and processed, carcinogenic food is laughable here.
And Tony, so proudly moved by Spot losing his Mum while heartily guzzling down beef and dairy is just detached from logic.
Disappointed isn't the word. Poor efforts at being decent conscious humans.
Absolutely no mushroom in a classic Bolognese - sacrelige !!!
Well there's hypocrite if ever I saw one. You encouraged people to 'eat kind 'for the animals and the planet and change their diets to Vegetarain but you obviously never believed in or were practing what you were preaching.
he had been vegetarian for 38 years, I doubt he never took the cause seriously, he wouldn't have lasted a day if it was so. He just took a decision for his own health
@@benedettabergamo1972 he was not even vegetarian dude. You can't be vegetarian AND eat fish. Big brain.
@benedettabergamo1972 yeah, he had a big dilemma, but made a decision for his health to eat less processed foods, like pork pies and fish & chips.
@@benedettabergamo1972So you're saying he was a dishonest liar for 38 years? How does that help his case exactly? You people can be so deranged.
If you care about your health so much, the last thing you should be eating are pork pies. Just saying.
@@ayyowassup in fact, he was a pescaterian as he later admits in the podcasts
My daughters vegetarianism ended with beef fried rice
Good, vegetarianism is unsustainable.
What a ridiculous thing to say 😂
It has nothing to do with how ultra processed food is. You either care about animal suffering, or you don't.
My daughter's meat-eating ended with tofu, roasted vegetables.
@@catdowntheroad5765 Terrible, my condolences to your daughter's health.
Fibre is the worst thing you can eat , protein and fat are the way forward , meat breaks down easily without fibre in the diet , whole foods like eggs , meat , fish , no grains or cereal are best
Utterly ridiculous statement 😂
Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Nonsense or not 😂
It's a southern american, like New York - go almighty this show is awful in terms of it's accuracy of food cooking - which is what it's supposed to half be about.
I'm gonna stop watching now. There was another episode where Angela said one minute "Oh, it has to be exact" and then 10 seconds later said "Well, it's up to you, it can be for however long you want".
It's all bollox to sell Waitrose gear and I live in Ireland and there isn't any !!!
