I"ve lived in Edmonton most of my life and been to many places outside of Edmonton. I will give you my honest assessment.
I will start by saying every place has its pro's and cons. And of course its you who makes it what it is to you. If you are a negative or positive person, and active in life person or a glass half empty type you will see it through your own lens. I have been to Vancouver, Victoria and all on the Island, Interior of BC, Calgary, Drum, Red Deer, Banff, Jasper and all of Alberta, Saskatoon , Southern Sask, Winnipeg, Toronto, Southern Ontarion, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax and Parts of Nova Scotia, Florida, Indiana, Nevada,Montana, Minnesota, North & South Dakota, Winsconsin, Chicago, Manhattan NY, New York State, Glasgow, Edinburg, and all around Scotland. All these places have so much wonderful parts about them and of course they ALL have their own warts. Edmonton I can say the same too. But I will tell you when I return from all these places, Edmonton is such a breath of fresh air and I feel so thankful to call it home. From the most important things to me, the day to day things people do to get on with life, its so hard to beat Edmonton. Its a million plus city, that to me, always feels small, I can get to most places in 20 minutes, You don't feel crowded or driving forever in sprawl like many cities. It's park system is a real gem, and we are of course situated in the great province of Alberta with wonderful driving destinations that are awesome. Like out great southern city Calgary and all her great events and sights, Banff & Jasper and don't forget our hidden gem...David Thompson area!! Arguably the best camping area in the Province. Drumheller to make you feel like a kid, Who doesn't love dinosaurs? All the fishing zones and hiking opportunity all short rides from Edmonton. Open spaces, parks and clean air. One of the Greatest Education systems in North America. And Edmonton has one of the most amazing hospital, The McKenzie Health Science centre . The province is going through tough times these days, but I have always had work, make a good living and raise a wonderful family all in Edmonton. Yes we have mosquitoes, so what!, Its cold, so what! During the winter there is so much to do, If you are stuck inside your house complaining about the weather well I feel sorry for you. Most summer weekend Edmontonians are too busy camping, fishing, laking, hiking, festival hopping, concert going etc etc to be wining about mosquitos. Yes I love my Edmonton and compared to all the places I've been to, I am so thankful to call Edmonton my home.

Hi friend from the UK what’s so good about Canada and does it rain or snow too much ? I hate the cold and the snow. Do you get Indian food out there ? It’s not cheap at all I am Indian so does matter to me food. The cost of living each time. Housing and rent. What about permanent visas and settlement ok. Yes shopping is very much important to us. The shopping centre and health food what about the doctors and nurses medical centres. Ok yes what about the heavy snow falling and having a education and the University and the cost of living means a lot to me ok. I like to mix but the weather is very cold ok
Well love it or hate it. I like warm weather and worry about it. I love the green and good parks. What about doing a business there. Yes is it a safe place to live. I like the sun and long-standing weather sunny times. So Edmonton is the norm and got the best food and wines. So Edmonton is best for the su and a place to live thanks.

It had the highest number if racists per capita in the country so all my jokes from the 80s can be reused again!

You for gor to tell people about the 3 weeks the weather drops to minus 30 , and life becomes a living hell 😊

We have been pretty lucky this year, we only had a really bad week of below minus 30... And we get 1 crazy hot week in the summer, lol. Thanks for watching!

      -30 isn't bad I've worked in -45 before -30 feels like a spring day

This city is such a dump. I don't actually know a lot of people who love living in Edmonton. The most common response I hear when I ask if a newcomer likes the city, they respond with, "Meh. It's okay, I guess." I find the only people who love this city are from somewhere worse. I loathe this city with every fibre of my being. You can't go anywhere in the winter because it's -40. You can't sit out on your deck in the summer without bathing in bug spray. The people are boring, the dating scene sucks, I could go on but I won't. Everyone's view differs. This just happens to be mine!

I am sorry to hear that you feel that way, have you lived in other cities? I do like it here, but do not like the potholes, that's for sure!! Mosquitoes can be bad but not as bad as the black flies in Manitoba! Hope you are staying safe and well against the coronavirus!

@@PatrickFieldsRE I've lived in Victoria, Vancouver, Dublin Ireland and Belfast. They don't have proper summers in Ireland but you get enough holidays to go to Spain or Portugal or Croatia or anywhere else that has a proper summer for cheap. I paid under $100CAD for a flight from Dublin to Barcelona. I miss Ireland so very much.

I am born and rasied in Edmonton and house prices arn't cheap in Edmonton. Montreal house price are way cheaper. West Edmonton is big and has lots of stores but America shopping is way better more better shopping malls and outlets. Edmonton is boring.

Thanks for the comment! Edmonton is pretty affordable compared to Toronto or Vancouver, I really enjoy it here. Hope you enjoyed it while you lived here! It depends on which U.S. city you visit for shopping, we do have some great malls!
